Conservative columnist Debbie Schlussel appeared on CNN’s “Paula Zahn Now” last night to discuss Joe Biden’s “racially insensitive” racist remarks. Schlussel compared the liberal lack of reaction and outrage to Biden’s “clean” comment about Obama to that of Rush Limbaugh’s remark concerning the popularity of Donovan McNabb.

Ian…I believe it is “Donovan McNabb”.

I would like to have heard the response from the other two panalists.
csdeven on February 1, 2007 at 11:27 PM
Is that Steven ‘Screamin’ A. Smith standing next to Debbie? When did he become a political commentator? I guess he had to find a new job after his show on ESPN failed miserably?
BJ on February 1, 2007 at 11:29 PM
Say what you will about Schlussel but the babe has her fact crap together. And she is top right about it being time for the progaganda media to hold the freeking Left’s feet to the fire. But hey, I won’t hold my breath. We just need people like her to keep on puncing away at them. though I always say the Proverb applies to the Left:
Pr 27:22 – Though you pound a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with crushed grain, {Yet} his foolishness will not depart from him. (New American Standard)
Don’t matter to them. They’re always right, er, Left.

Speaking the truth on a CNN set…… FABULOUS.
Go back and look at it again, folks. It’s hillarious…
The more Debbie hits home, the more the camera moves, and then the “panel” starts to “…but, uhhhh, …wait…. my thong is on too tight”.
True, cut off a little early, but I have watched enought CNN in my lifetime to know that the reaction would not have been any different……..
Why is racism still alive in America in the year 2007….. selective outrage.
WARNING… WARNING… WARNING… FREEDOM OF STRONG SPEECH, THAT YOU CAN HEAR AT ANY FOOTBALL GAME, ANY INTERSECTION WHERE THERE HAD BEEN AN ACCIDENT, ANY ONE WHO HAS EVER BEEN ASSULTED, ROBBED, RAPPED, HAD A GUN POINTED IN THEIR FACE, JUST FOR WALKING DOWN THE ROAD, AND ESPECIALLY, IN ANY COLLEGE CAMPUS WHEN PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUS IS BROUGHT UP IN DISCUSSION IN AMERICA…
Harsh, I know, but the point had to made…….
Get over it people. You have people that meet on a daily basis, some funded by a pool of oil that we pay them for, doing nothing, but planning the destruction of you, your family, and our society.
But Joe isn’t a racist…….. like Robert Bryd or La Raza?
PinkyBigglesworth on February 2, 2007 at 12:45 AM
I’m in love.
WWIII on February 2, 2007 at 12:45 AM
He plagiarized Neil Kinnock???!?!?!?!
OMG why would anyone want to rip off one of the Welsh Windbag’s speeches? Unless of course it was part of some suicidal ploy to throw away victory in an election.
uptight on February 2, 2007 at 12:46 AM
Sorry Ian, some times I rant…..
PinkyBigglesworth on February 2, 2007 at 12:51 AM
She speaks the truth. I’m surprised CNN would allow someone as intelligent as her to represent the conservative viewpoint. A mistake I’m sure they won’t repeat in the future. However, considering Turner Broadcasting doesn’t watch CNN (as has become obvious by the fiasco in Boston that CNN reported on all day before anyone from Turner stepped forward) she may become a regular guest. Let’s hope so. That “panel” could use some enlightenment.
thedecider on February 2, 2007 at 12:53 AM
Here is the transcript of the full show.
Decoy256 on February 2, 2007 at 12:54 AM
Thank you Decoy256 for the transcript! This very interesting exchange took place:
ZAHN: You don’t think a GOP candidate would be taking more heat tonight?
HUNTER: I think this is about the underpinnings of this country. And it’s one of the subtle things that you can’t quite put your finger on, but it’s always there.
Notice the dodge. Of course the GOP candidate would take more heat. Dems have the black vote in their pocket and the MSM is there to support it.
thedecider on February 2, 2007 at 1:07 AM
…and so was Hunter.
thedecider on February 2, 2007 at 1:09 AM
All I gotta say…is Macaca to that.
Spassvogel on February 2, 2007 at 1:32 AM
SMITH: When you say something along those lines, again, you’re talking about racial insensitivity. So, in that regard, like I said, I would agree with that. But that is as far as I’m willing to go, unless I know the man personally.
close personal friends, she is, with limbaugh and the rest.
jummy on February 2, 2007 at 1:35 AM
Speaking of racism etc….The coach for my favorite college team The University of Alabama said something that was found to be offensive to cajuns and I watched a panel on ESPN today calling for his firing and I could not help but laugh after what Michael Irvin said about Tony Romo and not a word was said about it by ESPN…love the double standards.
EnochCain on February 2, 2007 at 1:53 AM
Am I the only one who noticed how stunned the CNN crowd looked, as thought they couldn’t believe what they were hearing? Funny, but I sensed horror.
Scotsman on February 2, 2007 at 2:24 AM
I think she confused “the panel” with the facts.
Look, I know that no one is going to read this but here goes… (Opinion) We are getting our collective conservative clocks cleaned. Those of us rely on the, seemingly, simplest forms of logic either fail to articulate the obvious or fail to adequately deconstruct, debunk, or shame the deservedly lame liberal arguments. (at least en-mass)It pains and discourages me that the average American cannot absorb, what seems to be, the most simplest of realities; Muslim radicals want to kill Americans. I consider myself a rational man. My grandfather fought in WWII, my father is a veteran of Nam and DSI and I served in Bosnia (1995). Needless to say we’ve either been shot or shot at in the defense or endeavors of this nation. We love America period. However at this point and in all honesty, I feel like a Venezuelan that has had his country and freedoms yanked from beneath his feet. In short, where do I aim, where do I mass fires, where do I make my last stand and go out fighting? I want my two sons to live in the America that I was born in or, at the very least, know that dad made a stand and fought for this great nation. End rant… NOW.
x95b10 on February 2, 2007 at 3:34 AM
Yeah, I would have liked to have seen the response of the other two as well. But this is such an old argument, Debbie hasn’t thought up anything new and innovative or God forbid, thought provoking.
c.a. Marks on February 2, 2007 at 6:53 AM
The answer to Debbie’s question is socialism. For liberals, the goal of a socialist America trumps everything and anything, even racism and sexism and whatever other isms come along. If you’re a socialist (as they all are at heart) anything is excused and excusable. It’s the oldest story in the book.

x95b10:
Rant away! It was a pleasure to read your post. Your sons are in good hands (yours) and come from obviously good stock. I have faith that our country will get through this thanks, in no small part, to great Americans like yourself. It will take many years and much bloodshed, but the righteous will prevail. There is no other option.
IrishEi on February 2, 2007 at 7:39 AM
Me, too. Especially racialist nitwit Steven “Down with the Struggle” Smith.
Jaibones on February 2, 2007 at 7:56 AM
Uh…Pinky? What was that quote all about?
Jaibones on February 2, 2007 at 8:00 AM
Excellent job Debbie … if anything, I’d say Hunters streak of racism shown thru loud and clear.
darwin on February 2, 2007 at 9:12 AM
Rush’s comment was directed toward the Philadelphia sports media, not McNabb. Biden’s comment was directed right at Saint Barak.
JackM on February 2, 2007 at 10:01 AM
While I love reading and listening to Debbie, I think it is about time she updates her picture on her website.
Too bad she couldn’t have another shot on sirius again. She did a fill in for two nights on Howard Stern’s channel. It was surreal as the callers were a mix between serious war on terror callers and the sophmoric “is Osama hiding in your (female body part)” type. :D
Rich on February 2, 2007 at 10:29 AM
You go girl!!
Viper1 on February 2, 2007 at 10:29 AM
Sure, there is a double standard, but good grief… we all know he didn’t mean it as a racist remark, so can we quit pretending that we are champions of PC? I have become so frustrated with convervatives lately… have you just been pretending you were opposed to political correctness all of this time because it didn’t HELP you?
DaveS on February 2, 2007 at 11:02 AM
I think it needs to have attention drawn to it because if the tables had been reversed and a Republican had said the same thing … the left as a whole would be foaming and seething at the mouth calling for whoevers head.
darwin on February 2, 2007 at 11:29 AM
There’s a reason the left is able to live under different rules. It’s because the right doesn’t hold them responsible.
As was said by one of Allah’s readers in a thread last week …
“I’m not willing to give up my turkey dinner to protest”
Probably not the exact words, but you get the idea. If you want cr&p like this to stop … you might need to tevo a few American Idols and possibly even miss a few meals.
Otherwise, stop whining.
Gregor on February 2, 2007 at 11:58 AM
I sometimes am forced to, if not watch, at least listen to CNN in waiting rooms. Being able to read that transcript once again justified why I do not choose to watch it at home.
TugboatPhil on February 2, 2007 at 12:42 PM
I asked MM and HA if they might link to Coulter’s latest article…would love to see the comments. Ian… maybe?
Now I’m going to read the ‘rest of the story’…
shooter on February 2, 2007 at 3:19 PM
Do we want to? Do we want to promote an environment where people are “held responsible” when they speak in an unfortunately ambiguous manner which might be misrepresented or intentionally misinterpreted and other people choose to accept those unintended interpretations?
DaveS on February 2, 2007 at 3:47 PM
Where is common sense??It isn’t common anymore !! To many people with this PC crapolla is getting way out of control. I am no fan of Biden but he has been doing it for years but the MSM and dems are exempt it seems when they say or doing something. It is more than obvious, people need to grow up and treat people like they would like to be treated and talked to,period! rant and words of wisdom over.
bones47 on February 2, 2007 at 9:00 PM
The left looked petty and hypersensitive when they crucified Rush Limbaugh for his innocuous remarks. Now the right are the ones who look like petty crybabies, and hypocrites to boot. Biden’s comments were completely harmless. Cut the act.
Mark Jaquith on February 2, 2007 at 11:11 PM
Political Correctness………… in it’s finests…. if you raise your voice as a Conservative Republican, but if you have the same point of view as Liberal Democrat… all is well….
If you want more examples, just stay tunned….
P.S. I like your posts, keep, keeping me honest…
PinkyBigglesworth on February 3, 2007 at 4:03 AM
Rush was screwed. The blacks need to give it a break with this “poor me” mentality. WHen ar ethey gonna know it off. You’ll be treated the way you act, so act right dammit.
