He’s a Democrat, move along:
Mayor Gavin Newsom apologized Thursday for having a sexual relationship with his former campaign manager’s wife.
“I’m deeply sorry,” Newsom said during a brief news conference at City Hall the day after the aide resigned. Newsom appeared poised but visibly emotional. He spoke for about a minute and left without taking questions.
I wonder what his 20-year old model girlfriend (or ex-girlfriend?) has to say.

Anyone notice that it doesn’t mention he’s a Democrat in that AP story? When this broke in the middle of the night, out of the 20 or 30 sources reporting it, they were all local so I gave them a pass for not mentioning that he’s a Dem…
Right now, doing a Yahoo! news search on ‘newsome’ and ‘affair’ there are currently 202 stories (which seems like an oddly low number anyway). If you have the search return only articles that don’t include ‘democrat’ and ‘democratic’, you still have 161 articles! So roughly 80% don’t mention his party. Do we need to do a flashback on how similar situations have been dealt with when it was a Republican?

My wife 1.0 (read that one-point-oh) had a similiar “fidelity challenged” attitude towards marriage. It totally sucks to be on the receiving end of an affair, trust me.

The gay “jokes” are lame, especially since every freaking comment says “there are hets in SF, who knew?” SF is full of frustrated straight men: lots of tech guys who work in downtown SF or in Silicon Valley live in the city. Hot women… not so much, and they all want Gavin (no surprise, since he’s attractive, wealthy, and successful).
The picture on the main page is of Kim Guilfoyle (Newsome), who’s on Fox News, back when she was married to Gavin. His current, very hot, very blonde, and very young, girlfriend won’t mind since apparently the affair was awhile ago during his divorce from Kim. The Mayor has impressive skills, since Kim was a VICTORIA’S SECRET MODEL in college, and he’s now with an incredibly hot 20 year old. Despite the fact that he’s a crazy lefty, he’s my hero.

What strikes me about this case is how the news was broken.
Now I’m no expert on the 12 step program but I believe step nine reads as:

He has impressive skills in backstabbing one of his best friends. No matter what political skills, it shows he does not have the self control not to turn on his best friend and political ally. Really, if he can’t keep it zippered up for his most trusted friend, he will screw the public in a second. Forget the moral aspect, look at his lack of self-control. When confronted with something he wants, look what he does. But then, that is the type of leader you respect and honor…says a lot about your character.
