British Muslim soldiers agreed to act as bait to snare jihadi plotters

posted at 9:14 pm on February 1, 2007 by Allahpundit

You want Muslims against terrorism, you got it. In spades.

The soldiers – who are not thought to have told their families that they were potential targets – were placed under unprecedented surveillance for weeks as officers waited for the terrorists to strike.

And as they tried to carry out their ordinary duties, the pair were aware that if the gang attempted to stage their abduction they could be attacked and bundled into a waiting vehicle at any time…

Their actions drew strong praise from senior security sources who said the soldiers showed “serious nerve” in the way they cooperated…

One insider added: “It was a brave thing to do. Effectively they agreed to act as bait – like tethered goats – without any way of knowing how real the danger was. They had to trust the police.”

There has already been speculation that the men’s bravery being recognised with a medal or other award, although Army chiefs are anxious to keep their identities under wraps.

Jihadist websites have had a rage-on for these guys for years. This cell almost pulled it off: the most ominous bit of evidence allegedly discovered thus far is a list of the addresses of 25 Muslim soldiers, all of them accurate despite their being scattered throughout the UK. Where would one get a list like that? The British government is investigating the possibility of … a mole inside the Ministry of Defense.

According to the same article, two plotters might still be at large.

There is good people everywhere. Imagine how bad it would be if there weren’t. It’s the bad ones that stand out like a sore thumb. At this point if you don’t beat them from within you’ve lost. Waited too long to act. Blanket bombing being the only other option.

Good on ‘em. Kind of funny, actually. There are Muslims that can co-exist with western values, and put country and G-d in their proper perspectives. I salute you gentlemen.

HerrMorgenholz on February 1, 2007 at 9:35 PM

Hats off to them. But I hope they and their families have ample security. Now they’re even greater targets.

Whoever you are, whereever you are, thank you.

Defector01 on February 1, 2007 at 9:48 PM

This morning Bill Handel had Melanie Phillips a guest on the radio. She said that the British elites, from both isles, are so multi-culti and PC, including the police. She also said they blamed the 7/7 attack on Messrs Blair/Bush. However, the population is apparently entirely different. They ‘woke up’ during the threat of intending to blow up those 12 airplanes over the U.S. Hopefully this will shake them into reality further.

She claimed that only when the people elect different politicians can the radical Islamists, who were allowed in droves and unchecked into Britain in the 90s, be stopped.

Entelechy

My wife’s family is Irish. BIG family, scattered all over.
When we talk to the ones in Ireland and England they all want the government to grow a pair. Change is in the wind.

Limerick on February 1, 2007 at 10:02 PM

Now that’s what Willis was talking about!

Theworldisnotenough on February 1, 2007 at 10:06 PM

It’s called courage; the real kind, not what Dan “Blather” used to sign off the evening news (as I hear; I rarely ever watched him.)

… Muslims that can co-exist with western values …

These Muslim soldiers are as different from the radical extremists as real heroes are from cowards. And maybe that’s the reason why.

Finally, a ray of light.

Tantor on February 1, 2007 at 10:32 PM

This is great !!!
Plus, now the islamofascist muslims just might have to be careful who they talk to in their terror planing meetings.
I Love it!

Limerick on February 1, 2007 at 10:02 PM – great confirmation. Thanks.

Ms. Phillips also said that there is so much anti-Jewish sentiment in Britain/Europe, lately, that it’s feeding into the radicalim’s propaganda and raison d’être.

Entelechy on February 1, 2007 at 10:57 PM

Where would one get a list like that?

I don’t know but let’s ask Mayor (Red) Ken Livingstone. He might have a clue.

Is it too early to fire up those crematoria again? That was bad.

thedecider on February 1, 2007 at 11:14 PM

I wonder if they will be applauded or denounced by their co religionists. I’m guessing a fatwa will be issued.

joed18 on February 1, 2007 at 11:22 PM

That was bad.

thedecider on February 1, 2007 at 11:14 PM

er…yep….but you have a point. Entelechy too…Britian has always been a focus of anti-semitism. A tremendous amount of the world’s current problem is the direct result of their ‘white-paper’ on Jerusalem and the backing of the Arab League.

Muslim British soldiers kick pinky-toe!

Let’s hope for more brave, and honorable men like these soldiers.

USA, all the way!
