It is forbidden to stone women, burn them alive, throw acid on them or circumcise girls.

And who exactly are known to practice this? The extrimists of the unmentioned! Rich, pullingmyhairout and a few others did mention the inclusion of Hasidic and Christian, and exclusion of Muslim. However, both inclusions relate to Montreal police practices and Christian-values, and not to focus on Hasidics/Christians, versus omitting Muslims. It's pretty much implied in the article on whom they have in mind. pedestrian, we can't forget abusing children, animals, monogamy (unless someone wants more mothers-in-law). That JaHerer finds this only humorous, is strangely funny. I'm waiting for the other trolls to swing by in defense of multi-culti.

They forgot to mention:

- we do not use gang rape (or parades) as an approved form of punishment
- we do not behead people merely because they are Christian, or even because they are Jewish
- bus stops are for waiting for a bus, not for blowing people up
- sticks are for hitting hockey pucks, not women

This is shocking to me, as, I currently live in Canada. It is so liberal here (Toronto, mind you), that last week I was teaching a class (UofT), and mentioned that Hurricane Katrina was not George Bush’s fault, as, a person cannot control a weather system, and I received more than one, loud and anxious, protest of “Of course Katrina was Bush’s fault!!!! You don’t think Katrina was Bush’s fault?!?!”

Good for this town in Quebec. Let’s see if the sentiment spreads (not to Toronto, I’m sure).

I don’t think there is anything sinister about the Post article. It was just stupid for them to put the Hasidic ‘episodes’ into this article, but even a hamster would know that Quebec is dealing with too many Muslim immigrants. The Post gets it-along with these Quebecers.

answering your exit question: Muslim/Islam is not mentioned. Christianity is mentioned once, Hasidic, twice.

What I find interesting are those who are opposing this. If we were to move to Saudi Arabia or anywhere else in the mid east, for that matter, we would be required to follow their customs/laws/rules. it only makes sense for this Canadian town to outline their customs and laws. tit for tat. fair is fair, after all…
