What’s wrong with the Democratic Party anyway? They spend their whole lives giving out about the threat nuclear armageddon then when Reagan wants to eliminate the threat they’re against that too. The implication in Pelosi’s statement that its not worth spending billions of dollars to prevent a nuclear war is what really sticks in the jaw.

The airborne laser is the coolest thing….it seems like sometime in the future a similiar craft could be used for total air superiority rendering all opposed missle based tech obsolete?

Did the THAAD hit the SCUD target directly, thus creating the explosion? Or did the THAAD just line up in the SCUD’s path and explode at the right millisecond, taking the SCUD with it?

It’s going so fast that there is no need for extra explosives, as you can see in the video. As for whether an explosion would increase the kill radius, they studied the problem and it turns out that determining the exact instant when to denonate the charge was harder than just hitting the target dead on.

I think it uses kinetic energy to destroy the target so a nuke would not detonate or spread any nuke junk. Even if it did, I think nuke junk is a helluva lot better than a nuclear blast

What kind of debris would be generated if this was used on a nuke? Would the nuke explode? Or would the nuke just be disintergrated (so it can rain radioactive nuke junk all over who knows what)?

Very cool – but they need to get a defensive weapon that goes to the source. Laser based or particle beam, that sets off the launching nuke while still over enemy territory. Now
that would deter the little runt in NORK.
