I’ve learned to not be judgmental because when I tell my god-daughter and her sisters (ages 14 to 23) about Mo and Aisha, it’s all cool, because that’s the Islamic culture and how things were done back then so it can’t possibly be wrong. Who are we to judge??

Having delivered myself of that sentiment, I’ll add my somewhat more substantive thought, that Jermaine’s remarks seem like a public calling-out. All the talk of protection reminds me of the ninth sura of the Q’u'r’a'n’, in which muslims are told to give shelter to a hunted man, inform him of Islamic orthodoxy, and give him a chance to convert, under an implied threat of being turned over to the hunters. As much as I detest Michael Jackson for transforming himself into an undead Jackie-O, I’m even more horrified by Jermaine; his grisly altar-call a fine example as to why Islam merits the Maxim Gun.
