I’m not calling you anything. You are free to be who ever you are as far as I am concerned. I reserve the right to express myself according to my culture and upbringing. I have no desire to be politically correct as I feel it infringes on my freedom of thought. I have no hatred toward homosexuals but I strongly prefer not to be in the presence of a man who may have designs of a sexual nature or motives other than my own. It’s like your on another team,and besides look at public opinion can do ,remember Mark Foley? Really though I am sure that the comments you are reading here are ment more as a deterant to homosexuality than an expression of hatred. Did it ever occur to you that people here might be concerned for you. I won’t go into the many ramifications on how homosexuality weakens us as a nation, and it is a selfish self centered life style,with the sole purpose of sexual gratification. Never mind about the evolution and permutations of the words “fag” or “faggot,” what about the complete appropriation by the homosexuals of the adjective “gay” and it’s co-optation from an adjective meaning “happy, light-hearted, fun” to a noun meaning them?

I have to strongly disagree with you. The roots of the English language come from a virtual melting pot of cultures and civilations. When a slang word or coloquialism is introduced it may not communicate as well as the standard accepted vernacular due to regional or chronological limitations. Therefore what means one thing in San Francisco might not mean the same thing in New Jersey. Standardized English was taught in grammer school for two hundred years in the United States. This is a very strong cohesive force of unity. If we ever needed unity as a nation we need it now. So call yourself anything you want to but don’t think you can steal or make up words without consequence. ie; gay-merry,bright,brilliant in color. faggot-a bundle of sticks or twigs especialy as used for fuel.

Usage of these other “forbidden” words is perpetuated in the same way. Usage of the words are the fault of those who whine about the usage of the words and the “slurs” are the blasphemy of the liberal religion.

No, I don’t take offense if someone let’s the “fag” therm slip, intenionally or not…

But I swear, some of the above comments cross the line. It’s one thing to say something during conversation or whatever, but do it as many here are is abject hate.

Funny. The same thing more or less happened to me at RAF Bentwaters. Only I heard some Brit say he was going to go outside and “smoke” a fag. When I reacted everybody just started laughing and then somebody explained it to me. A week or so later I was over at a some restaraunt and there were “faggots” on the menu. Go figure.

A soldier leaving Iraq tells his best buddy staying over there “I love you man”.

The guy just looks at him.

“Aren’t you gonna say anything?”

Hey Defector, Oh your reference to Fraggle Rock was cute. I guess you never served in Vietman in the 60’s or had friends or relatives who did. Fragit is a reference to a common term used by some in the military then, as in to frag someone is when a hand grenade detonates close to someone and the fragments of the pineapple casing do their job.
