it was the Republican Congress who was isolationist pre WWII

Way to fact-check yourself, honora, you Dhimmicrat shill!
Guess what? The Congress wasn't Republican pre-WWII!
In fact, it was pretty heavily Dem, at least during FDR's first 2 terms...then he went and lost a lot of party support with his New Deal socialist shenanigans!
That "Republican" Congress (which also had quite a few Conservative Dems--remember them?) managed to pass "isolationist" measures like Lend-Lease and a peacetime draft in 1940.
Korea's end? Eisenhower didn't pull the plug, the U.N. did. Check it out for yourself. And conflict was ended by an armistice, not a victory/defeat.
Major conflict ending had more to do with Stalin's death than with any American President pulling the plug.
And North and South Korea (as well as those of us who are allies of South Korea) are still in a state of war with the NorKs.
As to Vietnam, tsk, tsk, tsk, you Leftie!
You know better than to blame Nixon or you should--Aren't you gonna take the credit for it, you aged Lefty anti-war dope-smoking hippy?
Congress refused to fund the war (kinda like they're grumbling about doing now...) and yes, it was a Democrat Congress.
President Gerald Ford (RIP) wanted to keep helping the South Vietnamese and the Dhim Congress wouldn't give him the money.

Honora,

It is not whose in office, it's what the population demanded pre-WWII....we had a very strong fifth column and communist
group pre WWII...only Pearl Harbor overcame all of that sentiment (that BTW is still around today)and I believe that Roosevelt was a democrat.

Korea was on Truman's watch. Wasn't he a democrat?

Kennedy "surged" Viet Nam, Johnson super-surged it and then Nixon had to get us out. Weren't Kennedy and Johnson democrats?

Stalin...Roosevelt again.

Did you forget Pol Pot, Ho Chi Min, Mao? All on democrat's watch.

To sum up: no one can appease a despot or an Islamofascist...history has proven it again, again and again over the course of 10,000 years.

And, Honora, what about the millions who died because we appeased Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Ho Chi Min and on and on and on.

Pulling out, retreating, surrendering is a course charted in disaster.

Staying the course, surging, or all better alternatives. Attacking suspected terrorist more aggresively would be even bettr yet.

The left and MSM are surrogates of defeat and submission.

O'Reilly is quite intelligent, calling him a moron only reflects on your judgement Honora.

What I find completely disgusting is the silence from the Left and the MSM on the cost of turning our backs, before we entered WWII; Korea; Viet Nam and after. Those on the Left never discuss the millions of human beings tortured and killed not only Hitler but Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Idi Amin, Ho Chi Min and soon Islamofascists. When you consider that over 35 million unborn have been killed by abortion in this country alone, then you can see why their silence is so loud! They disgust me, totally!!!!

Ok: it was the Republican Congress who was isolationist pre WWII; Korea? it was Eisenhower who pulled the plug. Vietnam? it was Nixon who pulled the plug (but I'll give you partial credit for that one). Idi Amin? Now there's a stretch.

Bill O'Reilly is one of the best on t.v.....I don't agree with everything, but that is the point, isn't it? If we agreed 100%, then we would be like the tin foil hatted loons who watch and cheer Olby.

The MSM, the loons on the left, the democratic party, weak republicans have finally succeeded in turning a large group of the American public into anti-anything not part of the "talking points" of Hillary, Edwards, Kennedy and their ilk.
But, what can you possibly expect when that "large group" was "educated" in leftist ideology on campuses all over the country, fed incorrect or outright false information by the MSM and pandered to by greedy politicians who are more interested in power and money than what is best for America.

O'Reilly is a moron. He has been saying he will the war 6 more months for the last 2 years.

What's disturbing is the latest interview with Tony Snow wherein he says if we leave Iraq (which he implies is the only alternative to the Bush plan du jour) there will be chaos, disaster etc. He then states our commitment is not open-ended. Meaning....this succeeds in some time frame or it's disaster? (I don't like the gambling metaphor some have used, but this is double or nothing--a boned headed gambling move, never mind war).

More disturbing was Imus' recent interview with Rick Santorum--RS made the statement that this is Maliki's last chance, either he gets it together for the surge, or he's gone. RS then added: of course, that doesn't mean we pull out. Meaning......

Most disturbing was Petraeous' (sp?) testimony. Sobering perhaps a better word. God bless that man, a truly selfless soul.

Why is O’reilly & many others going on and on about plan B, C or falling back when the surge hasn’t really begun in earnest.
oakpack on January 25, 2007 at 10:05 AM

Like all pundits, Bill lives on making predictions that prove to be correct weeks or months later. The difference with Bill is that he has continued to support the President (and there by the troops) even after he said he would call for a withdrawl if the current strategy fails.

I could be wrong, but I expect that Bill will go back on his latest position when the conditions on the ground dictate a different tactic.

....if America is defeated or we don’t see enough progress in the next six months,...

BOR and others keep saying that if our military doesn't make progress by mid-summer, we need to pull out. (not an exact quote, but that's what they mean)

All this kind of talk does is tell the insurgents that if they can find a way to hold on until July, we're gone. Isn't that a wonderful message to send the enemy?

Ingraham: if America is defeated or we don't see enough progress in the next six months, then a message will be sent to the Islamists that the American military, if not supported by the American people, can be driven out.

O'Reilly: Ya, but that's not going to happen......

What!! Bin Ladin's boys would love this to happen, Iran is pushing in the south and in Bagdad and everywhere else then can get to to make this happen, Hamas and Hizballah are rooting for this to happen (with the help of Dhimmi Carter), Al-Reuters is doing everything it can to ensure this happens, Islamists with or without oil money from Indonesia to Morroco are cheering and funding this to happen, the left-wing US media from TV news to radio to 90% of the print media are pushing for this to happen, the left wing nutroots on college campuses and the blogs are crying and begging for this to happen so they can all relive those great old VietNam days, the Islamists in France, Germany, England, Holland, and most of the rest of Europe are proving that it can happen, the Dhimmicrats now in charge of both houses of Congress are ready to cut the finacial legs out from under our troops in order to guarentee this happens....and on and on and on......

What planet is Bill O living on??????? It not only can happen, it very likely will happen without truely devine intervention between now and the next election. Even if, we are still in for a very tough fight, if we can muster the will to fight at all.

I need to take stock of my bunker. Now.

Instead we have these anti-President, anti-troop, elect me here so I can campaign for a higher office democrats that wouldn't know truth is it em in the ass. If the moonbats spent this much energy winning the war, they would really have something to stand on instead of constantly wining.

I hope Laura wasn't fooled by Webbs attempt to look pro troops yet anti-war. He shamelessly tries to give his message credibilty by dragging out a picture of his dad that he sleeps with.

WHY do the moonbats always do that? They use private experiences and memories as a tool to further their political positions. It is disgusting! I don't give a rats ass who his dad was. Should I judge Casey Sheehan by his mom? Heck no and I surely am not going to give Webb ANY credibility because of his dad.

Ingraham is right. The media isn't going to tell the story fairly. Everything's horrible and bad and the war was a mistake and yadda yadda. The president is the only American out there with the ability to communicate to the people the reason for finishing the job in Iraq and not abandoning the people there. He needs to do it more often, and more effectively.

Sometimes when Bill tries to be funny, he really lays a boner. (and I mean that in the massive failure sense) That liberal rooster calling or whatever was pretty ghastly.
