She wanted her photo op and she would not be denied.
Is this really news? Yes, my friends. Yes, it is.

I’m just happy to find out that there IS a new Republican member of Congress.
Doug on January 24, 2007 at 2:52 PM
I see that there was also commentary regarding Pelosi’s excessive eye blinking. However I was more annoyed by what appeared to be a lack of Polygrip for her dentures. Anyone else notice this?
Benny on January 24, 2007 at 2:58 PM
hahaha… I remember seeing that and wondering who that lady was. check out the weird, I’m so happy! smile.

Harmless really.

Benny:
I noticed the mouth action too. Looked to me like she kept licking her teeth. That and her rapid-fire blinking drove me to drink! (well, maybe that wasn’t the real reason…)
Charles Johnson at LGF clocked her blinking at 60-90 bpm (blinks per minute).

Is Bush really that short?
natesnake on January 24, 2007 at 3:14 PM
Was it a 5 or 10 yard penalty?
journeyscarab on January 24, 2007 at 3:19 PM
I think it’s hilarious. Now thanks to the internet, she’s gotten more than just a photo op.
Seriously though, she held on so long you’d think the Secret Service men would have been unnerved.

Well somebody has to take the place of the recently unelected Democratic congress critter from the great state of jawja Cynthia “cutest little communist in congress” McKinney

Funny…yes

He’s not all that tall, but she’s also on a raised portion of the Floor.

It’s NY Times blog news — and therein lies the difference.
First time I’ve laid eyes on Minnesota’s Representative Michelle Bachmann. The Times blog link indicates that she’s a freshman. Given a choice between an opportunist like her (seeking a photo-op), and a Minnesota Satan worshipper like Ellison, I’ll take Bachmann any old day of the week — thank you very much.
Besides, with guys like Ellison representing Minnesota, maybe Bachmann is simply desperate for the company of a REAL man (from Texas) — instead of a Muslim that believes that ALL women were created by Allah for no other reason than to be abused by men.
(Pehaps THAT comment will elicit some flames on this thread.)
CyberCipher on January 24, 2007 at 3:31 PM
And what, exactly, did she want to hold?
locomotivebreath1901 on January 24, 2007 at 3:37 PM
It’s quite amazing just what some people think is news.

Nothing an elbow to the face wouldnt fix.Bush is too classy for these clowns.
spazzmomma on January 24, 2007 at 3:42 PM
Didn’t Bush do something similar to this to the German Chancellor and kinda get in trouble for it?
dingoatemebaby on January 24, 2007 at 3:43 PM
She got a kiss, a hug, and a photo-op. The President didn’t seem to mind at least as I could see from the video. Wouldn’t you rather be hugged than spit on?
kiakjones on January 24, 2007 at 3:47 PM
Saw this on Fox last night. The best part of that is the little gray haired woman in the background between Bush and Bachmann.
She was mugging like hell to make sure she was in the shot. I kept waiting for Maxine Waters to shove her out of the way though.

I warned about this before, honora. You’re dating yourself again. Nobody here even remembers Dana Carvey.
CyberCipher on January 24, 2007 at 3:51 PM
BTW, honora, I have already made you famous on AllahPundit’s new Anderson Cooper/Paris Hilton post.
CyberCipher on January 24, 2007 at 3:52 PM
Unfortunately, some of us do. SATAN!!

Was that Monica’s Mom?
right2bright on January 24, 2007 at 4:32 PM
Tongues?
pjcomix on January 24, 2007 at 5:43 PM
She must have gotten there the same time Sheila Jackson Lee did, only she didn’t wear a red dress.
MsUnderestimated on January 24, 2007 at 6:58 PM
awe. That was sweet. A nice public display of affection. Where’s your poll now Rosie ‘the water buffalo’ O’Donnell?
sonnyspats1 on January 24, 2007 at 8:16 PM
I’ve seen this all before. You guys have too. This happens everytime a democrat appears on ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and PMSNBC….the hosts of whatever show has their tongue up their donkey……
And whoever the GOP operative is(probably Rove in drag), stop following Bubba Clinton with your agenda…..
ritethinker on January 24, 2007 at 9:17 PM
Big whoop. When I watched this on speech night I didn’t even notice. We should get back to more important issues, like the horrifying fact that Democrats have their grubby paws back on the budget.
dostrick on January 25, 2007 at 6:50 AM
Michelle is the rep in my area in Minnesota and it’s a lot better than being noticed for that dopey Wellstone giving him a cassette tape.
oakpack on January 25, 2007 at 9:14 AM
This is apparently the woman who claimed that God wanted her to run for Congress.
That God, such a slyboots.
