I don’t see diplomacy as surrender, when it works to our favor. However, how do you work a deal with a guy who is building nukes, chanting death to America, killing Americans in Iraq, selling IED parts to Iraq, destabilizing Lebanon, and holding holocaust denial conferences.

Yes, we supported Saddam against Iran… but not enough so Saddam would win, just enough so they would stalemate.

Yes we were friends with Stalin, to defeat the Nazis.

North Korean talks are just that… talks… nothing fruitful has happened. In the mean time NK and Iran are working together on a nuclear program. His rockets, their uranium = glowing Tel Aviv.

Honora conveniently overlooks the incidents in Somalia, Khobar Towers, African Embassy bombings all without a meaningful response. Also forgotten was the astute border guard foiling the Millenium bombing attack (although Clinton tried to take personal credit for it). And that the 9/11 hijackers were already here and training during the Clinton years. If Clinton’s anti-terrorism record was so great why did he send Sandy Burger into the Nat’l Archives to remove and destroy documents on the topic before the 9/11 Commission could get to them?

I am getting just a wee bit tired of this. The person to whom I was responding made the point that we owed Bush credit.because there had not been an attack on our soil since 9/11. That was their premise. And mine. If it’s not yours, that’s fine, but don’t accuse me of “overlooking” anything. Suggest you bring your A game next time.

The difference between Bush, especially seeing him “working the crowd” after the SOTU, and Webb–and then followed by Giuliani on H&C on Fox!–was stunning. A boring, monotonous, self-serving a-hole flanked by Bush and Giuliani only highlighted Webb’s blockheaded boorishness. “Robber barons.” I think that’s my new favorite phrase.

You will never hear us “rightwingers” complain that our President is not uniting the people of this country because we’re all united where it counts. We are solidly united behind our troops AND their mission as they prosecute the battle in Iraq and the GWOT.

Which leads me to the next point…the unblinking drone was obviously sent in for a tune-up prior to the speech and they turned the bps (blinks per second) up waaaay too high. That seemed to cause some sort of malfunction of the mouth parts which were out of control, too.
