Dem Rep. Nadler: “The villains are no longer the terrorists”

posted at 6:37 pm on January 24, 2007 by Allahpundit

No doubt there’s a “clarification” being crafted in his press office at this very moment about how he was taken out of context. Okay then, here’s the context: he’s from New York City, he was talking about Ground Zero workers who’ve fallen ill, and he was probably trying to make a point about how the greater threat to them is governmental indifference to their condition, not the people who, you know, actually caused it.

I.e., it’s not that he thinks the Bushitler is more evil than Bin Laden. It’s that he’s a shameless, grandstanding pig.

A furious Rep. Jerrold Nadler branded President Bush, former Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Mayor Bloomberg 9/11 villains for their treatment of Ground Zero workers.

“The villains are no longer the terrorists,” Nadler said yesterday at a news conference in Washington.

“The villains live in the White House and in Gracie Mansion, or at least lived in Gracie Mansion in the last administration, and in the governor’s office.”

During an interview with the Daily News, Nadler (D-Manhattan) blamed the Bush administration for lying to the public about environmental conditions in lower Manhattan, blamed Giuliani for failing to protect Ground Zero rescue workers and blamed Bloomberg for failing to help workers who are dying today.

Exit question: Am I giving him too much credit? Is this a “botched joke” by a moron trying to show outrage on behalf of the afflicted or did this cretin actually stumble into a Kinsley gaffe?

Does it matter? Either way he’s completely unfit to be in Congress.

Either way he’s completely unfit to be in Congress.

And yet he fits right in. Scum.

Iblis on January 24, 2007 at 6:48 PM

Not a botched joke. To him, and to people like him, there is no Office of the President, there is only BOOOSH. He spoke what he thought he could get away with. Dignitas is an alien concept. He obviously has none.

It’s that he’s a shameless, grandstanding pig.

Ummmm….takes one to know one?

TugboatPhil on January 24, 2007 at 6:52 PM

Have the terrorists already attacked the US withstupid gas? That there is discontent with Republican governments surely does not equate them with the Islamofascists, does it?

This is all becoming so bizarre. It’s defying all logic.

shaken on January 24, 2007 at 7:02 PM

Hey, give him some credit…at least he thinks the terrorists are villians.

Other than that, as libs are wont to do, he overstates the analogy and loses credibility. Bush is not Hitler. Bush and others are not terrorists.

By your logic, by recognizing Tiger Woods as the greatest golfer in the world, I am of equal to him on the links…..

Mallard T. Drake on January 24, 2007 at 7:07 PM

why anyone gives nadler any credibility at all is mystifying to me… the man is washed up leftist tool and yet he is being given a voice in the media… enough of this crap already, no one cares about phoney moral equivalencies… they don’t work as a metaphoric tool, they are transparently stupid and venal, and only work whenever the red light of a camera is turned on and there happens to be a D next to your name and district…

Asmodeus on January 24, 2007 at 7:08 PM

Unfortunately I have the pleasure of being represented by this guy. If it’s not a Kinsley gaffe on his part, it is certainly playing to the openly stated opinions of most of his constituents. BTW, Ground Zero is in his district.

nvianna on January 24, 2007 at 7:11 PM

Isn’t this the schmuck who someone got into trouble about because he made fun of him by calling him “Congressman Waddler”? Really, there ought to be several new words invented to describe the utter and abysmal moral and intellectual bankruptcy and meretriciousness of these guys.

Sam on January 24, 2007 at 7:11 PM

Not to make a personal attack or anything, but he’s really the size of two congressman. I think his constituents are over-represented, unless each of him is only a halfwit, in which case they’re getting roughly what they paid for.

Attila (Pillage Idiot) on January 24, 2007 at 7:34 PM

SIGH.

This kind of thing really drives me nuts because I remember PRE-9/11 Bush.

MR. “I’ll work on Mexico and China, and Colin Powell can handle all those other countries”

Before 9/11 Bush was so insular, I thought it was the second coming of Tokugawa.

It was only after he had to learn the lesson the hard way that he actually went after the terrorists that Clinton had allowed to fester and infect the third-world.

Bush’s problem is that he doesn’t play dirty enough. If you get dealt the “Villain” card, make the most of it and do what’s right. If your presidency is going to be one of non stop manufactured criticism, than do what’s right because the bad press clearly can’t do additional harm.

An ape and a pig according to the Koran he loves so much.

Air quality at ground zero was the Dem’s first foray into Bush bashing after 9/11. It’s amazing to look back over the past 5 years and see how low the Dem’s have sunk to the point where Al queda’s #2 man repeats what they say.

Scot on January 24, 2007 at 7:59 PM

Time for politics 101 here, boys and girls.

Idiocy like this does not happen in a vaccum. Although public consumption of such inanity is unavoidable, Jerry Nadler gives a big stinky crap about only three groups of individuals:

A. His constituents, who keep sending him back to his cushy capitol hill offices and job

B. The donors who conribute to the election campaigns, thusly “informing the voters” in order to help him keep his cushy capitol hill offices and job

C. The lobbyists who ensure that money will continue to flow from the donors who contribute to the election campaigns, thusly “informing the voters” in order to help him keep his cushy capitol hill offices and job.

Now what is the point of all this? Nadler represents Manhattan, the most liberal burrough of arguably the most liberal city in the entire nation. Life in New York City is so insular, most people there don’t think that Bush is a villain; they think he’s the villain.

I am reminded of how vociferously Nadler defended Bill Clinton. His vile bile spewed forth constantly at the House Managers…but he didn’t look at the assembled evidence once. No democrats did. That makes perfect sense too, when you realize that everyone in Manhattan absolutely loved Slick Willie (and they still do).

We gotta be fair to Jerry Nadler, though. He’s not really that different, in the end. Just like most politicians, as he kisses babies and shakes hands, what he’s really doing is all about kissing ass. And if doesn’t play with 97% of the American public, that still leaves the other 3% (9 million people), which makes for a pretty decent Manhattan voting bloc.

gryphon202 on January 24, 2007 at 8:06 PM

Sorry people….Politicians do not mis-speak. Every word out of thier filthy mouths is researched, rehearsed, coordinated and run through the swill of what they feel the current public opinion polls are/is. They spew this stuff for a reaction. If they get a positive reaction then its “good stuff”. If negative, they “mis-spoke” in the heat of the moment and blame the media for taking their words out of context…… It’s an old trick you see…..Lets throw out a bone and see what happens.

What? Democrats think that Bush is worse than OBL, say so publicly on the floor of Congress, and this is news somehow?

spmat on January 24, 2007 at 8:15 PM

The government doesn’t owe those people squat. You get sick you die, period. If you haven’t noticed no one gets outa here alive! Now shut your pie hole, and get a job!

“The villains are no longer the terrorists,”

Well? What would you expect the Enemy to say…?

CliffHanger on January 24, 2007 at 8:41 PM

“The villains are no longer the terrorists,”

“That’s right, the terrorists are now our friends.” [insert name of your least favorite Dhimmicrat HERE]

CliffHanger on January 24, 2007 at 8:44 PM

Congress is a cesspool of crap. I am ashamed of our government and their lack of care about my country. I can only say because of my age, I will probably not be around to see it crumble.

Wade on January 24, 2007 at 8:52 PM

Again, is there no group of “victims” the dems won’t exploit? GoNadler manages to keep up two of the dems worst tradtions, one being the exploitation of people and the other is blaming Bush and republicans for everything. And of course let’s not forget the obligatory Bush is the real enemy not the terrorists. We also have Kathleen what the hell do I do Blanco bashing Bush for not mentioning Katrina. What a worthless piece of excrement this woman is. Funny how the dems blasted Mike Brown when he was running Fema and now that he blames the administration for problems during Katrina he has suddenly become their boy…….

New York needs to keep that obnoxious little porker east of the Mississippi.

Meanwhile, al-Zawarhi reaches out to Democrats.

He knows his target audience, so to speak.

Is Nadler doing a riff on his “whiff of fascism” rountine again?
As we say here in Texas, “he who smelt it, dealt it.”

What is wrong with you people in NYC that keep electing this lardbutt to Congress?
Shame on you!
Catch a clue–the man is not representing you.

Jerry, dude! Step away from the bacon wrapped scollops! You’re huge! You’re a mess!

shermacman on January 24, 2007 at 10:12 PM

Are you kidding me? He’s Hillary’s attack dog. This is going to be her new issue de jour and Jerry is laying the angry foundation so she doesnt have to come off as a shrill bitch. Of course he sounds over the top, its so she can come back and sound rational.

Verbal Abuse on January 24, 2007 at 11:42 PM

It takes a special kind of idiot to watch jumbo jets slam into the World Trade Center and then look elsewhere for the “real terrorists.” And what kind of blithering imbeciles elect a hammerhead like this to office when he can’t figure out who the terrorists are.

Hint: The terrorists are the guys cutting the aircrews’ throats.

Tantor on January 24, 2007 at 11:52 PM

He’s only half as huge as he used to be. He’s had a tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty.

Entelechy on January 25, 2007 at 2:39 AM

I can’t help but wonder how much damage he is willing to inflict on our nation to secure personal power. How wretched and low, venal and corrupt can politicians become before our government ceases to function?

the-gunslinger on January 25, 2007 at 2:40 AM

Someone should arrest this “shameless, grandstanding pig” on a charge of capital treason. He’s clearly an enemy combatant sleeper. Sent him to Gitmo….

georgej on January 25, 2007 at 3:07 AM

Say what you want, this guy and others like him have a huge following. This is the Democratic party, this is what they represent. Without these outbursts they would not be elected, their followers demand these kind of statements. This is the real Democratic platform, wRangle, Nadler, Pelosi, Kerry, Gore, Kennedy, Webb, etc., they are respresenting mainstream liberals and democrats.
This is the Democratic party.
