The intentional generation then dissemination of knowingly bad information by AP is downright scandalous and yet they only people out there on their trail is you folks. Great work by all and spread the word on the blogs.

They will ignore you. The story is out, that is all they care about. Like any lie from the left, it serves its purpose even after it is exposed. The retraction is slow and slight, by then the damage is done…mission accomplished.
A great job, maybe after a couple more dozen of these, they will be more careful and cover their tracks better. Don’t count on them changing, count on them being more conniving.

Wow, Michelle you’ve taken the addage “If you want anything done right you gotta do it yourself” to the next level! I mean! Thanks for your outstanding courage and perseverence. You are one tough cookie, er or is that FIRECRACKER! The MSM are trying to marginalize your impact here, but to no avail. I’m senseing just the opposite. We are at a crucial time in the war. We can’t look for recognition from the doomsday naysayers. We need to stabilize Iraq and move on. I hope the Presidents plan has alot of teeth!

The distinction depends on the political orientation of the target of the "rumor." The media can still display remarkable restraint when it perceives the need for it: recall, for example, how Newsweek had the Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky story long before Matt Drudge, but spiked it. Consider also how most media are still looking up at the ceiling and whistling about the more recent revelations about Sandy Berger. It will be most interesting to see how the "Don't ask, don't tell" medai policy regarding Hillary will take effect in the 2008 election, especially given that most of the Clinton-era scandals were hers. "Fake but accurate" and "It could be true" are source/evidentiary standards applied selectively to people the media don't like (e.g., Republicans in general and George Bush in particular, as well as the U.S. armed forces). But if you're in their good graces, they can still demonstrate some degree of circumspection.

Somehow even tho now completely and thoroughly debunked as a source and a story, we wont see any response from the AP.

Centcom needs to recognize and accept that the media is working for the enemy.

Centcom needs to peel off a half dozen guys who’s ONLY JOB is to VERY QUICKLY go to the site of a suspect story and completely document the situation with video, stills, GPS coordinates, interviews, pictures of fresh graves, proof of date(pics of current newspapers in every shot) etc.
