Video: SNL hammers Hillary on Iraq

posted at 12:27 pm on January 21, 2007 by Allahpundit

Lieberman and a precious few others aside, their “hawks” are opportunistic liars who only supported the war initially because it was politically expedient to do so. We’ve always known that.

Their base knows it, too.

Finally, the real Hillary. Damn, that was refreshing. The Nutters over at DU and Kos will definitely cast their lot with her. Abu Matthews was good too………

ritethinker on January 21, 2007 at 12:39 PM

Is there anyone in fu**in country who didn’t know I was running for President?

Heh. That was a good one.

vcferlita on January 21, 2007 at 12:43 PM

Sweet.

bbz123 on January 21, 2007 at 12:45 PM

This is going to be disgusting…Hollywood and Hillary, mutual masturbation.

stonemeister on January 21, 2007 at 12:48 PM

Wow. It was as if they cloned Chris Matthews right down to that hair… and released the “Inner Hillary”

Jones Zemkophill on January 21, 2007 at 1:03 PM

I was laughing so hard I thought I hurt myself. First funny thing on SNL in quite some time.

MCPO Airdale on January 21, 2007 at 1:22 PM

That was great

Wade on January 21, 2007 at 1:22 PM

That was not great, that was scary. As much as I like to see Hillary finally getting parodied like Republicans do it’s more frightening that it was a giant bootlicking for Obama.

(Anybody else think that somebody changed the joke of “Hillarys” trigger plan at the last minute… It doesn’t make sense as delivered… “For every 1 percentage point that Obama goes up in the polls I’ll bring 7500 troops home”… For the skit to work it has to be “For every 1 percentage point that Obama DROPS in the polls I’ll bring 7500 troops home)

Skywise on January 21, 2007 at 1:39 PM

SNL has redeemed thyself.

And become funny again!

MCPO Airdale on January 21, 2007 at 1:22 PM

As was I when I watched it last night.. but upon watching it again here, listen to the very weak response from the audience to a hilarious bit. There were a few points of loud laughter, but mostly very light chuckles. They didn’t know how to handle the hammering of their queen because most of the crowd are just average MSM consumers who assume Hillary’s a shoe in… but the far left SNL folks are your Kos breed of lefty and they’re trying to stick it to her right now. We’re in the stage of this election, that we were in when Howard Dean was the hero last go’round.

Exit question: Does anyone think we’d give two shiites about Obama if he was white? (Of course his blackness, his name, etc. is all what got him to where he is today. Make him a white guy named Bill Johnson and he’d be a nobody)

RightWinged on January 21, 2007 at 1:42 PM

Sad thing is that most of the cast of SNL is very liberal. Hammonds did a gig for the RNC and related how he got a whole bunch of grief from the rest of the cast. But they apparently know that ole Hill is the anti-Christ and, when it comes down to an election, will back her 100%.

You could make the argument that with Hillary in office they’d have a never ending source of material (like when her husband was there), but, in their hearts, they’re willing to be blind and stupid so long as someone with the same perverted view of politics and humanity is elected.

cmay on January 21, 2007 at 1:54 PM

I laughed so hard I think I peed myself !

DoctorDentons on January 21, 2007 at 1:57 PM

I won’t delude myself in to thinking that SNL turned rightward, but wow, where did they find the cojones to risk offending their fans? Nice of them to throw a little humor our way.

CrankyNeocon on January 21, 2007 at 2:11 PM

It would be fantastic if the dem’s nominate Obama. He cannot win against Romney.

JustTruth101 on January 21, 2007 at 2:18 PM

That was not great, that was scary.
Skywise on January 21, 2007 at 1:39 PM

Think about it before responding. That was great was in reference to the video and Mathews saying “You are Great” Aside to this; way too far from the election to have any meaning for anyone. Great comedy from SNL accept it for what it is.

Wade on January 21, 2007 at 2:35 PM

It’s funny because there’s truth in it.
What is incomprehensible is, the Left can nail the faults of their own sometimes even better than the Right; they’ll be right on the money, but in the end, they’ll still vote for Hillary.

naliaka on January 21, 2007 at 2:46 PM

Hillaryous.

“Most democrats know me. They understand that my support for the war was always unsincere”

Made me split a gut

Chuck on January 21, 2007 at 2:52 PM

Allah, here’s a great site that tracks proposed resolutions and legislation on Iraq (and anything else having to do with Congressional activity).

As of today, of the ten items on the page, there are three resolutions and four bills either opposing troop increases or the war itself that have been introduced and referred to House and Senate committees.

More will be added to that list this week with one resolution (Warner) and three bills (Clinton, Obama, Dodd) currently being drafted.

ganeshpuri89 on January 21, 2007 at 3:04 PM

And Chris Matthews really IS that dumb.

SouthernGent on January 21, 2007 at 3:09 PM

I loved the C. Matthews impersonation. What talent! The lady was waaaay too nice, smiling too much, and the shrieking voice was missing from the icicle.

The f-word not far from Hillary, though:

Then she lashed out at what she described as a “vast Right-wing conspiracy” out to nail her husband as a serial sexual predator.

According to one biography, she left the television studio triumphant after making the comment, boasting: “That will teach them to f*** with us.”

Very telling!

Entelechy on January 21, 2007 at 3:41 PM

Amy Pohler has been carrying SNL since Will Farrell left. She is an absolute riot. Any jabs at Bill Clinton usually involved his womanizing, which, to the left was intended as a compliment. They’re poking fun now because A) it’s early, B) they’re threatening those who consider nat’l security above surrender, and C) don’t want her to peak too early. Obama-sama is intended only to keep Hillary from getting burned by the spotlight. Liberal rope-a-dope. Nothing more… funny nonetheless.

Buck Turgidson on January 21, 2007 at 3:51 PM

Is it me or do I just dislike people even imitating Hitlery? Yikes! I despise that woman to the bone.

x95b10 on January 21, 2007 at 4:43 PM

She has the maniacal laugh down.

Valiant on January 21, 2007 at 4:51 PM

I’m noticing a lot of nervous laughter in the audience. Hmm. Good shot, SNL.

Mojave Mark on January 21, 2007 at 5:04 PM

That bit was honestly dull and unfunny. Oh how I do not miss watching SNL at all.

zerodamage on January 21, 2007 at 5:05 PM

zerodamage on January 21, 2007 at 5:05 PM

Please don’t take this the wrong way, I’m just curious, what makes you laugh?

Buck Turgidson on January 21, 2007 at 8:14 PM

He’s got Matthew’s nailed.

Topsecretk9 on January 21, 2007 at 8:46 PM

Hillary is special though… remember her hubby wagged the dog:
December 16th, 1998

“Saddam (Hussein) must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or biological weapons,”

“Earlier today I ordered America’s armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces,”

“Their mission is to attack Iraq’s nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors,”

December 19th, 1998

‘Clinton was impeached on December 19, 1998 by the House of Representatives on grounds of perjury to a grand jury (by a 228-206 vote) and obstruction of justice (by a 221-212 vote),’

The bombing campaign ended the next day.

So Hillary had to:

“In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock. His missile-delivery capability, his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists including al-Qa’ida members. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons.” — Hillary Clinton(D) in 2002

DANEgerus on January 21, 2007 at 11:40 PM

Ahh the sword of the media finally swings to the right

EricPWJohnson on January 21, 2007 at 11:56 PM

Pffft. That media sword to the right will be forgotten should she win the democrat nomination. The left fears the nation’s gut reaction to Hillary, they think that her running could be too risky. That’s why they’re supporting the other minority senator in their party running for president.

Jewels on January 22, 2007 at 1:22 PM

He’s got Matthew’s nailed.

Topsecretk9 on January 21, 2007 at 8:46 PM

The only thing missing from the impersonation were the buckets of spittle shooting out of his mouth into his guests face.

kiakjones on January 22, 2007 at 1:56 PM

This skit was ok but I think the Nagin, Jackson, Hillary skit was better [New Orleans is a dessert cart; I was just pandering, etc]

docdave on January 22, 2007 at 10:01 PM

That was damn funny. But, I was distracted by the audience’s weak, nervous laughter. There’s just no joy, no real humour in the left. (Don’t you laugh when SNL slams a Republican? I do.)

So, was the skit a blow for conservatives? Or, was it really for far-left Obama-ites? I don’t know. Maybe Hill’ is just too fat a target for professional comics to ignore!

kace on January 23, 2007 at 1:17 AM

When I watched the whole skit..not just a clip, I felt the laughter was genuine. I didn’t see the laughter as nervous or strained. Funny how we can interpret it differently seeing the same thing. It’s almost like people laughed becuase they were free to chuckle over the stupidity yet not commit to actually saying it…was my take on it anyway.

Highrise on January 23, 2007 at 2:43 AM

I laughed so hard I think I peed myself !

DoctorDentons on January 21, 2007 at 1:57 PM

Me too!

But you better not mention what kind of underpants you’re wearing…it makes SLUBLOG nervous.

seejanemom on January 23, 2007 at 10:37 AM

I didn’t think it was funny either. Just looked to me like SNL going all Margaret Cho on us.

They’re completely abandoning comedy in favor of political sermonizing.

The left is so deranged that they think SNL is the place to create Teachable Moments.

lauraw on January 23, 2007 at 1:50 PM

(Anybody else think that somebody changed the joke of “Hillarys” trigger plan at the last minute… It doesn’t make sense as delivered… “For every 1 percentage point that Obama goes up in the polls I’ll bring 7500 troops home”… For the skit to work it has to be “For every 1 percentage point that Obama DROPS in the polls I’ll bring 7500 troops home)

Skywise on January 21, 2007 at 1:39 PM

Nah. The joke was that Hillary wanted to cut into Obama’s support. By taking credit for bringing home the troops as his poll numbers went up, she’d be increasing her standing with the anti-war base. It was the part about if Obama dropped out then the troops could stay, was a bit incongruous with the rest of her message, though.

I didn’t think it was funny either. Just looked to me like SNL going all Margaret Cho on us.

lauraw on January 23, 2007 at 1:50 PM

I thought it was hillaryous because they nailed Hillary for so many things: Her forced, insincere laughter; her wanting to know the questions in advance; her claiming to be part-Jewish when she ran in New Yawk in 2000; her reputation for screaming and swearing a blue streak when challenged; her insincere support for the war and her seemingly life-long presidential ambitions.

Amy doesn’t have Hillary’s Illinois accent don’t pat, but she nailed the line, “Jimminy Cricket!”. Good stuff.
