Still on sale at Urban Outfitters (UK): Death’s head keffiyeh

Before it was abruptly discontinued, the American version was known as an “anti-war woven scarf.” I guess even UO isn’t shameless enough to call terrorist apparel with skulls on it “anti-war,” so they’ve named it, oh so preciously, a “desert scarf” instead.

Jewlicious is all over it and thinks the skull might be an allusion to the SS. I don’t get it, though: who do we know in the UK who’d be comfortable wearing a symbol of Palestinian jihad emblazoned with the insignia of genocidal anti-semites?

Let me know if you come up with any answers.

Update: Relax, says E.M. They’re not Nazis. They’re just hopelessly stupid and superficial.

Faux-revolutionary Che shirt sold separately.

No one has worn the Kaffiyeh in a club in at least a year. Its out. Thats why its on sale. And skulls are so “in” that they’re showing up on Liz Claiborne. Nobody but the minivan-driving, clearance-rack, hipster-wannabe yuppies are wearing them. If you’re really interested in “hip,” there’s an ironic tee shirt with an anchor on it that should slip into your wardrobe.

What is that clown’s name from the mosque in that undercover film???

Zorro on January 21, 2007 at 4:48 PM

Dhimmi style en-vogue.

The terrorists have won.

Totally Ara-phat baby.

Gee, I don’t know. What’s the total population of Muslim youths plus barking moonbats in the UK?

I’ll take Prince Harry for $100, Alex.

Looks like a dinner napkin.

Allah asks

…who do we know in the UK who’d be comfortable wearing a symbol of Palestinian jihad emblazoned with the insignia of genocidal anti-semites?

Could it be Abu Izzadeen, the un-holy half wit?

Zorro on January 21, 2007 at 5:26 PM

Does it come with the really hot girl?

DaveS on January 21, 2007 at 5:44 PM

Genocide chic.

Yes, people really are that dumb.

Merovign on January 21, 2007 at 5:54 PM

Oh, and yes, she’s hot, but look at her eyes and the way her facial muscles are resting. She’s either higher than the Sears Tower, or she hasn’t got two synapses to rub together.

Maybe Kaffiyehs just do that to people. It does look a little tight around the neck.

Merovign on January 21, 2007 at 6:01 PM

So it’s called a “desert scarf” now?

Can I still get it with the J. Peterman “Urban Sombrero”?

JetBoy on January 21, 2007 at 6:45 PM

So, should we be more worried about the Death’s Head Battalion T-Shirts at Urban Outfitters locations in Britain or Walmart’s Death’s Head Battalion T-Shirts that are still in its stores for sale all over America, months after I wrote about it and Wal-Mart promised me they’d remove them? As the grand-daughter of Holocaust survivors and daughter of a DP camp-born immigrant (my mother was born in Bergen Belsen), I’d say they are both equally heinous. But where’s the outrage over Wal-Mart?

Gee, and I thought the Skull and Crossbones were all the rage because of the Pirates of the Carribean movies. “Disney Approved Gear!”

kiakjones on January 21, 2007 at 7:31 PM

I guess I could see it if they modeled the item on the run-way with the accompanying lyrics of “Stupid Girl” (by Pink) being sung in the background.

Of course, if they absolutely insist upon authenticity (death’s head, and all), they could always use Saddam’s half-brother and hang THAT on a chain around their neck.

(Okay, so that was a gruesome and sick remark. I guess young people’s idea of “fashion” is a hot button issue with me. I apologize in advance.)

Did anyone notice the face of that person with the long hair, I suppose that person is supposed to be a girl?

What is it with that “I smell a fart” look on her face?

Where do people, advertisers, come up with the idea that models, especially female models, must wear a “fierce” face while having their photograph taken?

It is a turn off.

“Lan astaslem.”

I will not submit. I will not surrender.

If I met a woman who wore a face, and attitude like this girl, I’d avoid her like she is Osama bin Laden’s top female acolyte, his Sith, Dark Side of the Force student, so to speak.

That unapproachable, “What do you want?” arrogance is a big turn off!

I have the perfect marketing slogan for them.

‘Death’s head emblazoned keffiyehs. When Islamo-nazi just isn’t Nazi enough.’

While we are on the subject of glorifying TERRORISTS, can either Bryan, Allahpundit, Ian, or Michelle or anybody else at Hot Air explain why THIS website is accepting advertising from domestic terrorists?

I am, of course, refering to the PETA ad.

It is the height of hypocrisy to laugh at (or lament) terrorist chic clothing while at the same time you run advertisement for America’s domestic terrorism front.

Well, Bill Orielly not long ago got a viewer email asking why FOX News would run ads for a CNN show…

Bill’s answer?

“Because their checks clear”.

That pretty much says it, I think…

Responding from the standpoint of calculated advantage, rather than out of righteous indignation, I say that accepting the ad is defensible if it brings funds to HotAir, and does no harm. And I would almost affirm that it does no harm, but I wonder if the leftist ads on this site, all taken together, tend to push out ads from conservative and libertarian advertisers that can’t quite make the fees paid by the leftist advertisers. Nevertheless, it seems better to demand purity from your enemies than from your friends and allies.

Kralizec on January 22, 2007 at 11:57 AM

I wonder how the ‘true believers’ (read terrorists) feel about a woman desecrating Islamic tradition by wearing a hijab around the neck and not covering the head, and the face of such a tempting woman as is required, by someone who is not Islamic?

My guess is that the woman pictured would soon be raped to death and her family executed for allowing such sacralige.
