Husky buffoon warns gringos: “Go to hell, gringos”

Ah, who cares. Here’s some vid of the gringo national pastime instead. Twenty-four seconds left, Colts up 38-34 after having trailed 21-3 in the first half. Pats with the ball at the Indianapolis 45 and driving. Time for the golden boy to do his Colt-killin’, ring-winnin’, big-game comebackin’ thing, right?

Not this year, sucka.

Manning and Harrison versus Urlacher and the Bears’ D. Could be worse, I guess.

My guess at the early line: Colts -12, although it’ll only be that close because Chicago’s offense had an unusually big day today. Expect it to inch up to 14 or so by game time.

Blowback

All Bucs superbowl. Lovie smith is a former bucs coach, and Dungy is the former Head Coach of the Bucs!

lorien1973 on January 21, 2007 at 11:14 PM

I say 31-17 Bears win and the wife says that it’ll be closer with both teams in the 30’s (However, Bears still win!).

As for Gringo hater, who cares! Deep down, he wants to be us but never will be us. He’s probably in early mourning about Papa Fidel. After all, when he goes, Hugo’s about out of real friends.

Emmett J. on January 21, 2007 at 11:16 PM

Gringo’s to Chavez… you first.

I actually watched the entire game tonight. Real football is BACK!

Mojave Mark on January 21, 2007 at 11:28 PM

“Gringo”? That’s a racial remark and I expect our liberal friends will condemn this act of intolerable hatred. Nah, just kiddin’.

I could only be happier about the matchup if my Eagles were on their way to Miami. Beinvenido a Miami!
Congrats to the Bears and the Colts! Boo to two weeks of hyperbole before the game.

MCPO Airdale on January 21, 2007 at 11:35 PM

Did I mention lately just how cool you are, Allahbabe? On my cool scale today, you are just a couple rungs under Peyton. And, to be fair, Addai.

GO COLTS!

Anwyn on January 21, 2007 at 11:36 PM

Although, they opened a hole big enough to drive a truck through for Addai. So there’s some wiggle room there.

Anwyn on January 21, 2007 at 11:37 PM

Here in Indianapolis, we’ve been waiting almost 11 years for the Colts to get back to the AFC game ever since they played the Steelers in ‘96. Tonight they eased my criticism about earning a new stadium. I’m glad to see 2 teams who haven’t seen a Super Bowl game in at least 22 years going for a ring. Brady has enough rings!

arteest on January 21, 2007 at 11:57 PM

It is important to keep a close watch on this dictator. Thank you Hot Air Folk for keeping our attention on him.

You could substitute “Hitler” for “Chavez” and his actions would make sense. This obsessed dictator will become a major threat if he is not opposed at every turn and close watch is kept on his ploys.

Keeping a close eye on an devoted enemy such as Chavez is just good common sense.

Damn that was great football! Being a Carolina guy, I love seeing anyone beat the Patriots. Colts probably won’t cover, but they WILL win, and for the next year we’ll probably see a LOT more of Peyton’s Ipod commercials or whatever the hell it is he’s been talking about.

First Lovie Smith, then the eventual reference to being the “first Black”. 4 hours later, hey Dungy how does it feel to be the “second Black.” Ugh. All the freaking hey “give” Blacks a chance as a head coach. Chance. Qualified Black applicants get the job and qualified Black applicants succeed. For goodness sakes…

Theworldisnotenough on January 22, 2007 at 1:31 AM

Much as it pains this Patriots fans to say anything nice about the choke-prone golden boy who quarterbacks for the Colts, I am forced to say, in the immortal words of Teddy KGB, “He beat me. Pay this man his money.”

Okay, so it’s not quite that cut and dried: in the second half my Pats looked very un-Pats-like, making mental mistakes (Caldwell’s two dropped balls), and taking stupid penalties (Evans’ 12-men-in-the-huddle). Throw in some profoundly suspect playcalling, a defense that couldn’t get off the field, and an Indy DB mugging Caldwell in the back of the endzone that went unflagged and almost certainly cost New England four points… well, let’s say there were shades of last week’s New England/San Diego game, only in reverse.

Still, congratulations to the Colts — maybe now your fans will whine less about how New England gets all the breaks and Peyton never gets the respect he deserves. Me, to the extent I watch the Super Bowl at all, it’ll only be to see how many new assholes Brian Urlacher tears your insufferable quarterback.

Centerfire on January 22, 2007 at 3:37 AM

I live more than 60 miles from Soldier Field. Right after the game, I had to run out to Home Depot for something. The streets were empty, traffic was non-existent. The parking lots at Wal-mart, Target, Meijer, and Home Depot were empty. Rather than operating her speed-trap in a local “eye-blink” village, Ms. Officer Friendly was hanging out in the local Mobil gas station drinking coffee, ’cause she had no “customers” since before the game started.

It was weird.

Like one of those science fiction movies after the end of the world or something.

I’m betting that outside of Circuit City and Best Buy (selling those HD TVs), and the bars, the retail establishments of northern Illinois all operated in the red for this Sunday.

I bet it will be even worse next weekend.

Obligatory on-topic comment: Chavez can (in da words of da Immortal Mayor Richard J. Daley, our late and sainted Hizhonner hisself) can kiss da mistletoe hanging from my shirt tail. Da Bearzz.

At least we won’t have to relive Katrina over and over and over for the next two weeks, the pre-game show, the half-time show, the post-game wrapup, etc.

I like the Saints, but can you imagine the coverage if they had won? The superbowl would have been secondary to an endless whine-fest from CBS.

BacaDog on January 22, 2007 at 7:51 AM

It couldn’t be a worse senario. Two sister-in-laws and a brother-in-law in Chicago. Strutting. Drool crystalizing on the snow. Loud late night phone calls with mad rants about some kind of monster running up and down the midway. Horse heads suddenly appearing on pillows in the middle of the night. It is going to be a long two weeks.

Oh…Chavez….hey buddy….I guess you dropped the line on Ain’ts too….I feel your pain buddy….

Limerick on January 22, 2007 at 8:22 AM

Couldn’t say it better myself, BacaDog. ‘Tis why I put away my anti-Bears bias for one game. Still, if AP wants to give me double-digit points and DuhBears, I’ll take them. The bookies have installed the Dolts as 7-7 1/2 point favorites.

As for the Junior Castro, I see he’s doing his own tourism commercials.

Is anyone interested in obtaining Reche Caldwell? He can be had for a handful of magic beans.

For all the Dan Marino smack I’ve laid on him, Peyton is a hell of a player, and the monkey on his back better start looking for a new home.

I think that was one of the best 4 quarters I’ve seen in a long time. And when Jackson picked that ball off and started running, I just starting screaming “Go down, go down”. Tough day, a couple of bad calls (fumble?), and Bush’s bush-league , low life taunting, which really fired everyone up in Chicago. Young=Dumb.

And congrats to the Colts for an amazing comeback, and a big monkey off their back.

Belichick and the Pats only won championships because the NFL Refs allowed their secondary to basically mug anyone they wanted to.

choke-prone golden boy

Centerfire, you can just shut that all the way down. He isn’t choke-prone. Here’s one Colts fan you’ll never catch saying New England got all the breaks; for starters they just had all the kicker. They don’t any more. Brady’s arm has never been as good as Manning’s, period. So neither one of them can control everything everybody else does on the field–nothing unusual about that. First half wasn’t Manning choking; it was just about every other Colt doing so, though. I don’t know who said what to them in the locker room at halftime, but it was fricking effective.

Anwyn on January 22, 2007 at 11:40 AM

RightWired on January 22, 2007 at 11:25 AM

I’m no Pats fan, but seriously, they won 3 out of 4. Their secondary played aggressively because the rules, at that time, allowed them to – the rules were changed the season following their 3rd title.

Right on Jeff, here’s what CBS had in store for us….. (emphasis mine) Link here

CBS will make its newest franchise player a big part of its Super Bowl presence in Miami. Couric will anchor the Evening News from there on Friday, Feb. 2 and contribute a piece to the pre-game show on Sunday.

As of now, the story is scheduled to be a feature on Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward, but if the New Orleans Saints qualify for the Super Bowl, McManus says, CBS may use Couric on some sort of post-Katrina story.

“But that would be a tough decision,” he adds, “because to do it the right way she would need to be in New Orleans for a couple days and it would be tough to take her off of the Evening News.”

I bet they’re devastated over at CBS news since the Saints lost. Now they’ll have to be creative in the way they work Katrina into the story.

Jones Zemkophill on January 22, 2007 at 1:49 PM

Centerfire, you can just shut that all the way down.

Sorry, Anwyn, but facts is facts: ’til this year, your boy had a history of folding in big games (see also, the 2003, 2004, and 2005 playoffs). Now, sure, he’s not the only one responsible for those losses, but if he’s really the great player that he’s constantly made out to be, why wasn’t he able to elevate his game and carry his team on his back? Answer: because he’s not that great a player. Oh, sure, he’s got a better arm than just about anybody in the league, and he’s a statistical wunderkind who reliably racks up impressive numbers running up the score against bad teams in a soft division. But in the only statistical category that really matters — i.e., winning big games — your boy’s long been an enormous fraud.

I mean, honestly, is this really open to debate anymore? That the Colts won is great for Indy fans and all, and certainly a nice notch in Peyton’s belt, but it hardly turns the guy into something special. It just puts him a step closer to being some semblance of the great player we’re constantly told (by kneepad-wearing media figures) that he is. It begins to erase his history of failure. It certainly doesn’t put him in the same conversation as Tom Brady (peace be upon him); I think we’ll wait until Peyton gets his third ring, first.

In any case, as nice as it would have been for my Patriots to get their fourth title in six years, and as vexing as it was for them to cough up the game/beat themselves the way they did, in a sense I’m glad they’re done this season; it was getting a little tiresome dealing with all the haters (see RightWired, above). Maybe now that the NFL will surely overexpose Manning (to the extent that it hasn’t already), maybe the haters will discover a new and far more deserving target.

Centerfire on January 22, 2007 at 3:17 PM

It certainly doesn’t put him in the same conversation as Tom Brady (peace be upon him);

Don’t you mean Vinatieri?

Anwyn on January 22, 2007 at 3:19 PM

But in the only statistical category that really matters — i.e., winning big games

Come on, tell it to Steve Young. The only stat that matters? Good grief.

I admit it, I am a marginal football fan–I like to keep track of how things are going in general, but I really only watch big games closely. That means that for all I know you may be right about the division. But two years ago it was, ahem, the Pats who eliminated them from the playoffs. Last year it was the eventual Super Bowl champs. They aren’t patsies, and neither is Peyton.

I’ll still be here when he *does* have three rings, and he’ll have earned them with a lot less aggregate help from Vinatieri than Brady needed. I don’t have anything at all against Brady or the Pats. It’s just that it’s about freaking time the Colts got over it. As I recall, Brady wasn’t so good at “putting his team on his back” when his receivers weren’t in the game or when his arm was off, either.

Anwyn on January 22, 2007 at 3:55 PM

Gee….I guess only 32 QBs ever were great…I mean…well the others never made a StuperBore. Thats the hallmark. 41 other guys on a team don’t mean a thing…just that no-good lousy wanna-be QB.

Limerick on January 22, 2007 at 3:59 PM

It’s pretty clear that the Pats think every title is their’s to lose…hahaha….the Colts walloped the daylights out of them and earned the win. Brady was whining that they “gave” the game away…..Jeeze! How childish can a guy get? The Colts called the right defense for the Pats final play and Marlin Jackson made Brady his 8itch!

The Colts racked up 455 yards of offense…..
Pats were 5-14 on 3rd down
93 yards rushing
17 first downs (Colts had 32)
The Colts #3 Offense outplayed the Pats #6 defense.
The Pats gave up 150+ yards more than their average for the year…
No one scored that many points on them all year

Yeah Tommy, you “gave” the game away.

csdeven on January 22, 2007 at 4:10 PM

I also believe the Pats were in Cambodia at one point.

Limerick on January 22, 2007 at 4:13 PM

Don’t you mean Vinatieri?

No, I mean Brady. Without Brady running the offense, Vinatieri is sipping Gatorade on the sidelines as time expires, the team having never gotten into field goal range.

I admit it, I am a marginal football fan

I’m shocked. No, really.

I’ll still be here when he *does* have three rings

Keep hope alive.

and he’ll have earned them with a lot less aggregate help from Vinatieri than Brady needed.

Last week’s game against Baltimore, where Vinatieri scored all of the Colts’ points, would seem to militate against that argument. But let’s say it’s true, and the biggest reason Brady won all those Super Bowls because he had a blue-chip kicker. What does it say about Manning that he heretofore hasn’t been able to win a Super Bowl despite having an entire corps of blue-chip receivers the likes of which Tom Brady only dreams about being able to throw to? Or does the “aggregate help” that Manning gets from guys like Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne not count?

Centerfire on January 22, 2007 at 4:25 PM

the Colts walloped the daylights out of them

Evidently a four-point come-from-behind win that wasn’t a sure thing with 24 seconds left to play is “walloping the daylights” out of someone, in Indianapolis.

Centerfire on January 22, 2007 at 4:30 PM

You’re right Centerfire….Eugenics is the key….not enough bumps on Manny’s head I guess…it is all about breeding.

Limerick on January 22, 2007 at 4:32 PM

Centerfire on January 22, 2007 at 4:30 PM

Ask Brady. Here is what Brady was thinking with 24 seconds left in the game….

“You’re backed up and time was an issue,” Brady said. “It’s not like you have 2 minutes and 30 seconds. You have a minute or less. … It’s tough.”

It sounds to me like he was pretty whipped.

csdeven on January 22, 2007 at 4:44 PM

No, I mean Brady. Without Brady running the offense, Vinatieri is sipping Gatorade on the sidelines as time expires, the team having never gotten into field goal range.

Because getting into field-goal range is the only job of the QB that matters?

I’m shocked. No, really.

Be nice, now, I was conceding you a point.

Last week’s game against Baltimore, where Vinatieri scored all of the Colts’ points, would seem to militate against that argument.

Aggregate, I said. I’m aware of last week’s game, and I’m not discounting Vinatieri. I’m saying *you* are, in praising Brady.

What does it say about Manning that he heretofore hasn’t been able to win a Super Bowl despite having an entire corps of blue-chip receivers the likes of which Tom Brady only dreams about being able to throw to?

It says something. I’m not unaware of it. But those guys aren’t perfect either. Neither is Manning. But neither is Brady, and saying that Manning isn’t even in Brady’s class is simply nonsense.

Anwyn on January 22, 2007 at 4:47 PM

It sounds to me like he was pretty whipped.

Then you’re a moron. He was quite obviously talking about the difficulty of punching in go-ahead TD with so little time left, not admitting, “PEYTON PWNZ0R3D US!!”

Seriously, if you think that game was a blowout by the Colts rather than a closely-contested thing right down to the wire, you either weren’t watching or you’re an idiot.

Centerfire on January 22, 2007 at 4:59 PM

Why all this fuss about the Pats-Colts game?

Sure, the game was a nail biter, the winning touchdown with seconds to go, leading to an impressive record comeback win in a championship game. And, frankly, I was glued to my lazyboy there at the end.

But, football is a game of DOMINANCE. Not a game of “squeakers” with the clock running down.
Sure, the Colts won (and winning is EVERYTHING, as Lombardi once said) — in a squeaker — because of a last minute touchdown and an interception of a desperation pass with just seconds to go. In all fairness, that game could have gone either way, it was that close.

The Bears, on the other hand, kicked the crap out of the Saints. It became “close” only once when the Saints came within 2 points — and then it became 4 points as they got “safety-ed” and from that point on, NO wasn’t in the game.

So, let me summarize all of the above.

(wait for it)

Awwwwww…wadda madder? Stwuk a nerve did we? You need to figure out a more mature way to express your thoughts, because the ad hominum attack is the tool of those who have nothing constructive to add.

I never read a quote from Jonny U, Montana, Elway, Young or Manning, that bemoaned the amount of time left on the clock as an excuse for another team 8itch-slapping him. Bradey was soundly beat. Period.

csdeven on January 22, 2007 at 5:10 PM

Because getting into field-goal range is the only job of the QB that matters?

Sometimes, yes. If you need a field goal to tie or win the game, then getting the team into field goal range is the only job of the QB that matters.

I’m saying *you* are, in praising Brady.

Actually it sounds more like you’re trying to rehabilitate Manning’s reputation by tearing down Brady, suggesting that Brady’s past successes owe substantially to having a blue-chip kicker to work with.

To the extent that’s the case, is it not fair to point out that Manning’s past failures have come in spite of him being surrounded by significantly more offensive talent than Brady has ever been, at any point in his career?

Centerfire on January 22, 2007 at 5:12 PM

Okay, csdeven, you win. The Patriots were completely demolished. Never mind that the Pats led 21-6 at the half. Never mind that the Colts never had a lead until a minute left. Never mind that the game was still contested with less than 30 seconds left to play. Never mind that the margin of the Colts victory was less than a touchdown. Never mind that Manning is such a world-renowned whiner that he actually has an expression — the Peyton Manning Face — named after him (who can forget his press conference after last year’s AFC Championship, when he threw his entire offensive line under the bus as an excuse for failing). Never mind that saying you ran out of clock is hardly ingracious or unprofessional by any rational standard.

Yep. Pats crushed. Absolutely steamrolled. Never even were in the game.

(If I’m going to babysit retards, I expect a living wage.)

What? You got stock in the team? A relative on the bench?

You focus on your facts and I focus on mine. Everyone has their own opinion and I see no reason to throw a tantrum and call people names.

After all, it’s JUST a football game.

Speaking of apologies, I want to apologize to all of those fans of NFL teams, both present and past, that don’t have 12 championships (and that includes those on the wrong side of the Waukegan Toll Plaza).

Actually it sounds more like you’re trying to rehabilitate Manning’s reputation by tearing down Brady, suggesting that Brady’s past successes owe substantially to having a blue-chip kicker to work with.

Okay, look, maybe I should’ve used more smilies in my first post. I thought we were having a friendly discussion here with a little smacktalk, and you’re calling people morons and retards. Whatever the case–I have no desire to tear down Brady’s rep and no need to rehabilitate Manning’s. He did that all on his own last night. The offensive line was nowhere to be found in the first half; when they gave him protection in the second, he came through. And sorry, but yeah, a lot of the Patriots’ success in the past *is* owed to the kicker. Yes, Brady got them into position, but I’m saying now that when the Colts have come from behind for the win, more often than not it’s been because Manning drove all the way down, not put his kicker in good position. Obviously that may change with Vinatieri’s arrival.

To the extent that’s the case, is it not fair to point out that Manning’s past failures have come in spite of him being surrounded by significantly more offensive talent than Brady has ever been, at any point in his career?

We still rate his “failures” on very different scales. You’re putting all your eggs into the “no Super Bowl” whereas I’m saying the Colts nevertheless have a very impressive record with him at QB. I simply think he’s at least as good, possibly better, than Brady as an all-around QB. You disagree. Fine. Time will tell for sure. I’m done at this point, because calling names over football opinions is taking football far too seriously.

The reason I was asking was because in one of your earlier post, you mentioned being out of beer – I was beginning to think you had some great tolerance going there, as you kept commenting throughout the day.

Gotta go check Texas news..praise Allah….praise Allah…….Geez…outta beer…gotta run to the store too.

The Colts are good.
The Pats are good.
Peyton Manning is a fine QB.
Tom Brady is a fine QB.

Centerfire, you are a huge Pats fan. That’s great. But being a huge Pats fan doesn’t give you a free-pass to be an abrasive douche bag. Right now you’re acting like a douche bag. Lighten up Francis. There’s always next year.

Denver’s streets still turn into ghost towns, even during the regular season. But lately we’ve been let down toooo much, 7 & 2 early and nothing, not even a wild-card.

The broncos have been sold to a company in the Philippines ..
Their new name ? The Manila Folders
