Mel “Amnesty” Martinez elected RNC chairman

The WashTimes has been running goofy articles all week pretending that the RNC rebels who were trying to block him had a ghost of a chance, and that Michael Steele might emerge as a compromise candidate. I said on Tuesday it was futile, and guess what? It was futile. The vote was secret ballot, but according to senior GOP officials, all but 20 delegates were committed to Martinez.

He promised a blogger in an interview yesterday that he wouldn’t use the chairmanship to push his own personal political agenda. Which isn’t worth much: when it comes to this issue, he’s a notorious liar.

Money quote from today’s acceptance speech:

To be the Party of the future means that we also have to be a party that opens the door wide-open so that all Americans feel welcome. There are too many Americans who do not understand that the principles of Abraham Lincoln,Teddy Roosevelt, and Ronald Reagan speak to their hopes, their dreams, and their aspirations. I will take the message of our Party to all Americans.

That leaves us with a pro-amnesty president, a pro-amnesty party chairman, and a likely pro-amnesty presidential nominee in ‘08 in the figure of St. John of Tucson. Why, it’s enough to make a man consider voting for Tanc. If, that is, his candidacy wasn’t such a foolhardy pursuit.

As far as ‘global warming goes’…I do believe if I hear that phrase in my presence, someone is getting an icescraper enema.

Interesting, when the Temp. is even a little higher than normal the media starts right in with the Global warming crap.
When we’re frozen solid…not a word.

Humans are incredibly susceptible to vain chicken little syndrome when the truth is that puny humans are no match for cosmic forces like gravity, cyclical orbital polar inclination/trajectory and Sun flares.

Not sure whether to be amused or disturbed.

Well, at least Moose Jaw has:

Off Sales Beer Vendor

I don’t know what it means, but it sounds promising. And when global warming gets rid of the permafrost the black fly population will probably go down.

I don’t think anything can kill blackflies. Those things will outlive humanity.

Giuliani, Tancredo, Gingrich, and Romney

Giuliani is a Bush clone in my opinion, and Romney’s stock is falling fast and will most likely continue.

That leaves Gingrich or Tancredo.

I’ll add Ron Paul.

News from Communist MA:

Count them in: Tally of illegals may save us a congressman

I guess, uh, you can send us your illegals, so we can elect more Barney Franks…

reaganaut on January 19, 2007 at 10:47 PM

And then we had a civil war … because the illegal invaders got to stay, and undermine things.

I’m totally for legal immigration, but invaders are just that! Invaders! Political shock troops for the revolutionarires who paly games with our security.

USA, all the way!

If the RNC goes open borders then they’ll end up empty pockets. I’ll send money in when they start acting like Republicans. The Governator turned into a Democrat after being elected. This needs to stop but it won’t stop with the likes of Martinez as chief.

Why is no one mentioning Duncan Hunter? My choice.

And I am so glad my sentiments are expressed here by everyone re: Mel. I am glad I am not the only that thinks this is a horrible mistake.

Does anyone know where Jim Gilmore stands on illegal immigration?

BeachBaby on January 20, 2007 at 9:34 AM

I love that Brownback is being labelled an “ultra-conservative” by the media. He’s part of the freakin’ gang of fourteen! R-I-N-O and amnesty lover to boot.

I agree Duncan Hunter is another great presidential option.

With apologies to R.E.M. and Mark Steyn, it really IS the end of the world as we know it. But I *don’t* feel fine.

It is long past time to form that alternative, politically viable, light and mobile grass-roots third party.

The foundation for such an organization should be simple: adherence to the Constitution, laser-like focus on the top three things that matter most (national security, robust economy, and guardianship of personal liberties). Strict term limits to keep corruption at bay, and full transparency to avoid unethical actions.

For those who believe that we have to take the GOP back, I say that they have gone past the point of no return, and I have no faith in their current leadership. Yes, there are individuals who deserve our support, but they are not out in front where they can be effective, and thanks to the mechanisms of the current party structure, will likely never will be.

What a true shame. I suspect that the other side of the aisle have a few souls in the same camp.

actually newt has had plenty to say on immigration. He has a point by point plan out line of what he believes would solve a lot of problems unlike most candidates. At least you can read where he stands and make your mind instead of guessing.
