Video: Hillary dodges Obama question on ‘Today’

Hillary Clinton ducked a question from Matt Lauer this morning regarding whether Barack Obama is qualified to be President. Instead of a yes or no answer, Clinton said the “voters will make these decisions.” Asked if she would feel comfortable with him in the White House, Clinton again said it is up to the voters.

Clinton will be holding a press conference on Iraq at 3 p.m. ET, although we already know most of what she’s going to say.

After all, what do you expect her to say? She’s going to be battling him in the primaries right?

Vincenzo on January 17, 2007 at 1:41 PM

a dodge but a smart answer

Opinionnation on January 17, 2007 at 1:42 PM

If, as some people believe, she intends to tap him as her VP, she can’t hit him too hard on this stuff. If she makes his inexperience a centerpiece of the primaries, she can’t very well sell him later as second-in-line-to-the-presidency, now can she? If she claims he’s completely unsuitable now, then how can she put him on the ticket as the guy who will be one heartbeat away from the oval office? She’s going to have to walk a tightrope through the primaries if she does indeed plan to ask him to be her running mate later.

Just for a chuckle, check out the rolling screen caption at the bottom of the video still on NYC’s ABC website. Cue the Kos Kids’ screaming about media bias in 5, 4, 3, …

I actually feel sorry for Obama in this matchup. You just know the more popular he gets, the sharper Hillary’s knives will be when the primary comes.

Not that it won’t be fun to watch.

Slublog on January 17, 2007 at 2:00 PM

This is non-news; of course she’s going to say exactly what she said.

Remind me of the old Chris Rock Routine on SNL
” Thank you, Dennis. Now as you know, there’s been alot of talk about a black vice president. And I just wanna tell the world that it’ll never happen. As long as you live you will never see a black vice president, you know why? Because some black guy would just kill the president. I’d do it. If Colin Powell was vice president, I’d kill the president and tell his mother about it. What would happen to me? What would they do? Put me in jail with a bunch of black guys that would treat me like a king for the rest of my life? I would be the biggest star in jail, alright, people would be coming up to me and I’d be signing autographs: “97-KY, here you go.” Guys would be going: “You’re the brother that shot Bush. And you told his mother about it huh? I hope my children turn out to be just like you, Man, you know I was getting ready to rape you until I realized who you were. And even if they had a death penalty, what would happen? I’d just be pardoned by the black president. So you see, Dennis, it would not be in George Bush’s best interests to place Colin Powell on the ticket.

Replace Hildebeast with Bush and …..

Pantsuit

JammieWearingFool on January 17, 2007 at 2:15 PM

Wasn’t it Lauer who rolled over for her with the VRWC interview?

JammieWearingFool on January 17, 2007 at 2:15 PM

What’s the world coming to? No, I’m not referring to threats of terrorism. Smartest woman in the world Hillary goes on the we adore liberals Today Show and has to duck questions from her former @ss-kisser Matt Lauer?

Let us all bow to Obama, for he is The One.

vcferlita on January 17, 2007 at 2:30 PM

I must have missed something. Hillary appears on the Today Show and says nothing and gets asked nothing.

How is this different from all the other times she’s been on?

TugboatPhil on January 17, 2007 at 3:09 PM

Well, we know she just came back from her visit but now she knows the Taliban timetable.

Who was she meeting with? How does she know this info?

USN6872 on January 17, 2007 at 3:13 PM

Hillary will soon start speaking ebonics and rhyming her sentences, in order to shore up the Jackson/Sharpton wing of black democrats. She will also start her once every 4 years, church attendance routine. She knows those suckers will fall in line like they always do.

roninacreage on January 17, 2007 at 3:14 PM

Look. You know Hillary’s going to get a knife in him; I know Hillary’s going to get a knife in him. Why don’t we just lie back and relax and watch the show unfold? It’ll be fun.

ahem on January 17, 2007 at 3:54 PM

How is this different from all the other times she’s been on?

There is always something different when she is on the Today Show or another other show being grilled with tough questions, or being the center of “conservative hit pieces”.

Her hair style tends to change.

And, ummm, and… did I mention her hair?

You know, there is is, as flagrant as Billy Boy was in getting his yayas, the best kept secret for all this time is who the Hildebeast gets her freak on with.Always wondered, but then again she is probably the more lethal of the two of them.

bbz123 on January 17, 2007 at 6:42 PM

Notice to Hillary, the press is not behind you.

Hi all, I’m new to commenting, Hillary brought me out (been reading a long time) Anyway, I find her so annoying because except to take easy predictable jabs at Bush, she doesn’t say anything EVER. So now she just makes me mad. She is slicker than Willy and that is just creepy!

CCRWM on January 17, 2007 at 7:23 PM

At the democratic primary debates Mrs. Clinton will be the only woman snow-white among the dwarfs on the podium, or in the forum of contestants. Calling Katie Couric for tips…

Entelechy on January 17, 2007 at 7:32 PM

Scary stuff. I hope the more she starts to talk, the more everyone see’s she’s such a friggin phoney. She does not need to be President. What on earth can she possibly do for this country?

johnnyU on January 17, 2007 at 8:39 PM

All this coming from a woman who’s perfectly OK with US defeat in Iraq.

Notice when she was talking about failures of “this administration” Matt mumbles in agreement.

Jeepers…do you think there is a liberal bias on NBC?
