Hajj pilgrims victimized as kaffir airline’s flight leaves on time; Update: Airline caves, will apologize and reimburse

Don’t worry. CAIR is on it.

The Muslims arrived at the Frankfurt airport at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 7 on a charter plane from Saudi Arabia. They did not show up at the ticket counter until about 20 minutes before the Detroit-bound Flight 51 left at 10:20 a.m., said Dean Breest, a Northwest Airlines spokesman.

The airline industry and governmental agencies have check-in and boarding deadlines to help ensure on-time departures, and Northwest Airlines policy states that passengers must check in for international flights at least 60 minutes before departure and be aboard the aircraft at least 30 minutes before departure.

“The rules are the rules,” said Roman Blahoski, spokesman for Northwest Airlines.

Imam Sayed Hassan Al-Qazwini told CAIR the group was at the gate at least 90 minutes before takeoff and that the airline wouldn’t help them find other accommodations. Au contraire, says Northwest:

Mr. Breest … said those who arrived at the gate in time with boarding passes were allowed onto the plane, and that those who could not be accommodated were rescheduled for other flights.

“We’re sorry, but we did get them to the next destination as soon as possible. We were still able to process some of them and get them on the flight, then rebooked the rest of the group the same day for flights via Amsterdam.”

Qazwini wants an apology “as well as unspecified compensation.”

Interesting guy, though. Click here and scroll down a little more than halfway to see what he had to say about Jews vis-a-vis Christ’s crucifixion. I’d say he’s qualified to stand for election in Virginia.

He’s also the head of one of the largest mosques in North America.

Update: The ceremonial boycott threat has now been formally made. Note well:

Breest said Northwest does not discriminate. He pointed out the high-profile case of Muslim imams who were escorted off a US Airways jet in November at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport after they made Islamic prayers. The imams were eventually flown home by Northwest Airlines, he said.

Update: 40 Muslims get to the gate late? No problem — just hold the plane and inconvenience the scores of other people onboard. And then give them some money for their trouble.

Dhimmimania!

Reacting swiftly to allegations of discrimination, Northwest Airlines apologized to a group of 40 Muslims today for barring them from a plane in Germany on their return trip from the Hajj.

The airline said it will reimburse the pilgrims for the other flights they were forced to take on their return from the Hajj, the Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

Moreover, a ranking official of the airline said the flight for which the passengers from Metro Detroit were ticketed could have been held at the gate until all were cleared for boarding, and she is looking into why that decision was not made…

“This was not our mistake,” Newman [the airline's VP for government relations] said. “We try very had to make sure that everyone is treated the same, and it is an important community to Northwest, as are all communities.”

It’s not their mistake, but they’re apologizing and handing them an envelope with cash.

Give credit to Debbie Schlussel — she called it.

maintenanceman on January 17, 2007 at 1:10 PM

This page did not load immeiately.

I want compensation.

I’m waiting….

That’s how you do it, right? Just practicing.

ej_pez on January 17, 2007 at 1:10 PM

“I’d say he’s qualified to stand for election in Virginia.”

That’s really uncalled for, and comparing Hargrove with muslim fanatics is really obscene.

darwin on January 17, 2007 at 1:14 PM

I’m sure there are cameras at the gate that can confirm what time they were actually there.

jman on January 17, 2007 at 1:23 PM

The imams were eventually flown home by Northwest Airlines, he said.

Ahhh… I see. Well, since I don’t want to die in a terror-plot, or pseudo-terror-plot, I guess I’ll be avoiding North West. (I avoid Southwest already as their planes give me headaches.)

Jones Zemkophill on January 17, 2007 at 1:29 PM

Ladies and cavemen, this flight has been diverted to Club Gitmo. En route, please enjoy complimentary videos of Season 6 of 24. Thank you and have a nice day.

JammieWearingFool on January 17, 2007 at 1:30 PM

Let’s see…how does that go again?

Oh yeah.

BOO. FREAKIN. HOO.

KelliD on January 17, 2007 at 1:34 PM

I thought they all had flying carpets?

Dread Pirate Roberts VI on January 17, 2007 at 1:34 PM

This is what happens when you don’t have any Hajj stampedes.

JammieWearingFool on January 17, 2007 at 1:36 PM

Please please please let the Muslims boycott Northwest…becuase then it will be the only airline I will fly…safe with the knowledge that I will enjoy a hijack-free flight.

This is right out of the Islamist “game plan” — it is okay to LIE to Kuffir. In fact, it’s the duty of Muslims to lie to us infidels.

The wikipedia article you refer to says:

He has thus far spoken at over a hundred churches, colleges and universities about the genuine and authentic teachings of Islam, thereby dispelling the common misconceptions about Muslims in America.

Nope. Al-Qazwini has just reinforced the underground video knowledge that Muslim leaders in America cannot be trusted any more than their British counterparts.

One the fascade slips off and the truth about Islamists exposed, it cannot be simply put back on the way one would put on clean underwear.

georgej on January 17, 2007 at 1:39 PM

You know, I had to wait three hours for a flight last year after I got to the airport 20 minutes before the flight took off. I’m sick of the Christian, white hating airlines.

I gotta get my money.

“tough titties”

WriterMom on January 17, 2007 at 1:44 PM

Actually, Northwest Airlines is hardly Kaffir Airlines. More like Dhimmi Air. Read the full story on this, Qazwini, and his other congregants–their ties to terror.

I first went undercover at Qazwini’s mosque in November 1998, when he hosted Louis Farrakhan and cheered his calls for Jihad against America’s Jews. I wrote about it in The Detroit News at the time.

Debbie Schlussel on January 17, 2007 at 1:46 PM

Good grief. Even if the airline did do something wrong, that would just show these travelers were treated the same as the rest of us!

MamaAJ on January 17, 2007 at 2:00 PM

I couldn’t cair less.

infidel4life on January 17, 2007 at 2:01 PM

Funny that it’s Frankfurt. I’ve had half a dozen stopovers there, and I’ve literally never once made my connection. That airport is so huge and stupidly planned, these whiners should demand compensation from them, not the airline (or, say, no one).

Tanya on January 17, 2007 at 2:04 PM

Another Tanichka comment! My day is made.

Allahpundit on January 17, 2007 at 2:08 PM

CAIR is all over this one like maggots on red meat. Think I’m going to throw up. We are allowing Muslims to dictate our national policies which ensures Islamic world domination. It’s about time an ACLU type of real American non-Dhimmi organization forms and sues these pricks right back into their caves.

What makes me even sicker is the willingness of so called conservatives to shield the so called “peaceful” followers of Islam’s call to murder or covenvert us. Pathetic.

Timber Wolf on January 17, 2007 at 2:08 PM

if we could just get all of our airlines to piss them off I would be happy to start flying again

:-)

One Angry Christian on January 17, 2007 at 2:08 PM

Silly.

Tanya on January 17, 2007 at 2:11 PM

cry me a river. poor, poor muslims. sarcasm off/

pullingmyhairout on January 17, 2007 at 2:14 PM

Muslims don’t want equal treatment, they want superior treatment. In their view, their religion entitles them to privileged treatment by the kaffirs.

Tantor on January 17, 2007 at 2:18 PM

They talked about this on Fox & Friends a lot this morning, and tons of people wrote in saying that they hope Muslims do boycott NWA, because it will be the only airline they will fly from now on.

RightWinged on January 17, 2007 at 2:23 PM

Another stab at security? Always probing?

That reminds me of my experience with that airport back in the mid-80’s.

I was stationed in Germany for the Army from 1985 to 1987, when the Red Army Faction (anyone remember them?) was active, and that airport was patrolled by men with machine guns and guard dogs.

There were also advertising posters featuring bare breasted women proudly displayed in the public areas. Talk about a culture shock!

I wonder how the Muslims would feel about that today?

RedinBlueCounty on January 17, 2007 at 2:33 PM

“The rules are the rules.”

No, silly infidel, there are rules for dhimmis and then there are rules for their islamic overlords.

Tony737 on January 17, 2007 at 2:37 PM

I have to agree with everyone that this is pretty insane. Every day around the world thousands of people get to the gate late and miss their connections; to claim this is some sort of bigoty does nothing but make them look silly and take away future creditbility for real compliants.

JaHerer22 on January 17, 2007 at 2:45 PM

Oh good grief, AP. The two statements hardly compare in context. I thought you were better than that.

********

I was in Turkey a while back and had a chance to visit a mosque. My visit while tolerated made the Muslims there a tad bit unhappy. What I was told is that Muslims are born as Muslims.. The also believe that Christians are born as Christians just as Jews are born Jews. This serves as the foundation for when they say that Christians and Jews are lower forms of humanity. What they don’t understand is that no one is born a Christian. Anyhow, lying to a non-Muslim is perfectly acceptable behavior for Muslims. The sooner we understand it and develop a “thicker skin” and some backbone, the better off we will all be.

GT on January 17, 2007 at 2:47 PM

If the Muslims boycott Northwest, would that boost their ticket sales? They would be the only airline with “Muslim-free flying.”

ITmonkey on January 17, 2007 at 2:51 PM

Funny that it’s Frankfurt. I’ve had half a dozen stopovers there, and I’ve literally never once made my connection.

I’ve been through Frankfurt airport only once, just last year. It was honestly the worst airport experience of my life. (Munich airport was fine, though.)

sandberg on January 17, 2007 at 2:53 PM

Frankfurt airport is pretty bad. It has the dirtiest bathrooms I’ve ever seen in an airport. They were retch-inducingly nasty.

Not the worst airport experience of my life, though. That honor has to go to Sheremetyevo. That place is beyond awful.

Slublog on January 17, 2007 at 3:00 PM

Waaaahhhh F*%king Waaaahhhh!
I would be extremely pissed off if they would have made an exception(because they are Muslim) and let them on the plane.

ic1redeye on January 17, 2007 at 3:51 PM

Worst Airport Contest!!

Winner: Heathrow on a sunny Summer afternoon ( esp the terminal for M.E. flights: 2 0r 3 , I forget )

first runner-up: Toronto
2nd runner-up: O’Hare ( unless you stay on United )

I remember that; I was bouncing around from NATO base to NATO base then. As much as I wanted to fly the soft civvy flights to go home, or on leave, it always made more sense to fly outta Ramstein on a uncomfortable C130 or 141 because the bad guys were kind of active back then.

This is nothing more than a series of things planned: The flying Imams, This, (taking bets on what’s next). Lets call the next one before they can do it.
