Obviously, this wasn’t an option. If you are going to make a big deal out of nuking something, it has to be either obscure or popular enough so that the audience won’t cheer that it’s gone. That rules out Hollywood, and for that matter every well known part of LA.

We have now seen the face of The Mythical Moderate Muslim. And he’s bonkin’ the President’s sister.

What’s even more fitting about the whole thing is that he doesn’t know the language. That probably means that he probably doesn’t know a whole lot about the religion either, hence, he’s moderate.

As for the PC stuff. Who wants to make odds that Addas ends up burning CTU showing the futility of negotiating with these people.

Well why not? Last season President Bush had the white, secular Russian seperatists (I don’t think any of that square with reality) gas the place. On season two the white mercenaries that were working for the terrorists blew the place up. Both times it was like nothing had happened within three hours, what’s a little fire going to do?

The biggest betrayal I’ve yet seen on the show is that Jackie (I no longer feel that he’s man enough to be called something as masculine as Jack) killed Curtis, a patriot and hero, to save a terrorist who has given zero reason to believe he has reformed.

And about the PC thing, just because it’s outrageous doesn’t mean they don’t believe it. Just look at the Truthers if you need proof of that.

No sooner did I write this post about 24, than I find this on Drudge via Hot Air (who has video).
Apparently, Monday night’s episode of 24 was pretty radioactive! Now I’ve got to watch it! Heh!

Oh, right. I watched it again…I had missed the part where Fayed leaves for the safe house. But he would have had just under 30 minutes to get far enough away to be safe, and that’s not much of a safety cushion.

That said, the story in general is compelling, even if we’ve been through it before — I believe season 2 or 3 had Jack flying a suitcase nuke out of Los Angeles and into the desert just minutes before it detonated. And oh look, there are four other devices. Big surprise there.

Still, seeing a mushroom cloud rising over a U.S. city is not a happy sight and I look forward to seeing Jack snap back to reality and kicking some terrorist ass.

And with Fayed dead, who will be pulling the terrorists strings now?

Fayed wasn’t there. He’s big on sending guys to Allah, but not so big on making the trip himself. So he’s a plausible terrorist so far.

But there is a simpler explanation.

Bauer has “MCP” also known as “Main Character Protection.” Not just simple MCP — but MCP with “Main Star Support.”

Yep. That’s why he never gets shot (the bad guys always miss, even when using automatic weapons). That’s why he always gets out of whatever plot entanglement hardly the worse for wear. That’s why he won’t die from a nooclee-ear blast or it’s effects.

MCP, with main star support. The magic of being a main character in a TV drama also results in regular paychecks for several years running. What a gig!

Heroes is repeated on SciFi and on NBC in reruns.

24 is neither, though I noted that the 1st 4 hours of this season’s 24 is ALREADY on sale today.

Decisions, decisions…..I’m going to have to plan this very carefully.

If there is one thing we Americans can count on (other than Jack Bauer, who had something of a setback last night) it is Amsterdam. Whenever the US reaches the point where normal people look at their local daily paper……

Four hours ago he was in his pajamas on a slow plane from China, now he’s pulling off one-handed three-way-conference-calls to numbers he still has memorized after a year or two of real Asian-style torture (as opposed to the “a mean girl made me look at her cleavage!” GITMO kind).

I can’t even figure out how to delete my text messages. But maybe that’s just one small part of why I’m not Jack Bauer.

Maybe it’s just me, but it strikes me as odd that followers of the ROP, who want to bomb us Westerners back to the stone age, gotta have Mohammed on their PDA.

As for the rest of the cast, they are so bad, casting them must have been done intentionally to make KS look better.

The people in the control room (with all the computers, whatever the hell it is) are played by actors and actresses who would have difficulty landing a spot as a walk on in a 6th grade production of Our Town. That one girl, the one who always frowns, is so ludicrous looking that I doubt I’ll ever get her face out of my mind. They should send her into the terrorists den . . . they’d all die laughing.

And who was the guy selling the detonator? Mossad perhaps?
