Video: Bush on Saddam’s execution

posted at 8:54 pm on January 16, 2007 by Allahpundit

It’s from tonight’s “NewsHour with Jim Lehrer,” which, by the way, does an excellent job of archiving its programs online. Not only was the full transcript of the interview posted immediately after the show aired, so were mp3 and RealMedia versions of the audio.

He says the execution “makes it harder for me to make the case to the American people that this is a government that does want to unify the country and move forward.” Which is not unlike saying that mainstream Muslim support for jihad makes it harder for him to make the case to Americans that Islam means peace. It’s true as far as it goes, yet it rather misses the point.

As for the execution being botched, he doesn’t know the half of it.

Shame on you AllahPundit.

Update: Video clips in poor taste aside, Saddam is still dead. Jesus alive. KOS kids remain clueless.

CyberCipher on January 16, 2007 at 9:11 PM

I’ll be damned if the guy playing Saddam Hussein doesn’t look like Sebastion Cabot!

tomk59 on January 16, 2007 at 9:11 PM

BTW, somebody should show that clip to al-Sadr.

CyberCipher on January 16, 2007 at 9:14 PM

That totally rocked. Kimmel, not Bush.

This sounds more like a political sound byte than what one would imagine his real opinion to be. It also doesn’t match the tone of his messages after the execution took place. He’s twisting and I think the new congress is causing him to do it. The former Bush would never have made such a concession publicly. Now we wait for the other shoe to drop when we’ll discover the meaning behind this change in message.

As for the video – very funny. I saw this a few days ago at the end of Brit Hume’s broadcast. I couldn’t believe they showed this, but last night we were treated to Barbara Boxer’s grandson licking a rail. He seems bright. *cough*

I miss the ol’ “Bring it on!” President Bush.

The video is awsome! I am sure it is being played all over the Middle East proving that Saddam is still alive, and one day, Allah willing, will return to power!

LOL
As soon as I saw the Jimmy Kimmel logo, I knew it was going to be a joke. For some stupid reason, I didn’t predict what the joke was gonna be.
Priceless, nonetheless!

The real Saddam is busy with his 72 virgins 72 million demons right now and couldn’t be reached for comment.

I guess the old adage: the moral clarity is always brighter on the other side of the wood chipper must apply.

After Saddam got his neck snapped, he was met at the Pearly Gates by George Washington, who slapped him across the face and yelled, “How dare you try to destroy the nation I helped conceive!”
Patrick Henry approached, punched him in the nose and shouted, “You wanted to end our liberties but you failed.”
James Madison followed, kicked him in the groin and said, “This is why I allowed our government to provide for the common defense!”
Thomas Jefferson was next, beat Saddam with a long cane and snarled, “It was evil men like you who inspired me to write the Declaration of Independence.”
The beatings and thrashings continued as George Mason, James Monroe and 66 other early Americans unleashed their anger on the terrorist leader.
As Saddam lay bleeding and in pain, an Angel appeared. Hussein wept and said, “This is not what you promised me.”
The Angel replied, “I told you there would be 72 Virginians waiting for you in Heaven. What did you think I said?”

Um, ya, it is unlike that. But your statement is not unlike any number of other occasions you seize upon to make obviously and overtly racist statements.

Mainstream muslim support for jihad? Jesus.

The other day Condi said at a press conference in Egypt that the executions had been “mishandled”, as was that of Saddam. “We were disappointed there was not greater dignity given to the accused under these circumstances.”

Dignity? What madness is this? And now Bush is mumbling about the executions being immature.

How come nobody in the administration is saying these SOBs got what they deserved? That we should redistribute their wealth to the families of their victims? That we should have tried and executed him quickly rather than putting him in a suit and letting him blather on?

Makes you wonder which side the administration is on. Do they want to win this thing or not?

Even worse, this guy is being buried next to Saddam and his gravesite turned into a shrine. Saddam and all his executed cronies should be burned and their ashes scattered. What is the sense in creating a place where pilgrims can come and beat their breasts over his “unjust martyrdom”? Unless you’re periodically going to drop a cluster bomb on the pilgrims – but we already know that bombing our enemies at a funeral is a big no-no.

The dignity in question is the dignity of the state and of the power of the state. Never mind.

Jim Lehrer’s interview with Bush was excellent–not a gotcha, not a sycophant.

I thought you weren’t going to post here anymore. Since when did Islam become a race? While one can certainly make a case that Islam is racist, (Muhammad once said that the Arabs were the most noble of races, he also owned black slaves), Islam is composed of Arabs, Turks, Persians, Indonesians, Phillipinos, …. Aren’t liberals supposed to be smart?
