I think Sting's like 54 or 55. At least he's not pushing 70 like you-know-who. I'd be up for a reunion tour just as long as they don't go all New Age on us. Last thing I want to hear is Don't Stand So Close on two theremins and a recorder.

I'm in. I've been waiting form to reunite officially for a while now.

Copeland & Summers have both done guest work on Sting's CDs, but everyone was always involved in their own projects. I guess they think the time is right.

Hey, the Stones have been playing well into their oxygen-tent years-- why can't The Police?

HAHAHAHAAAAAA!! Thanks Lorien! That was great! "I lost on Jeopardy, baby, oooooh oooh ooh"

I used to wish Van Halen would get back together with David Lee Roth, but then I saw him in concert and, man, he sucked. Forgot the words, mumbled thru it, tryin' to do high kicks, etc. Give it up Dave.

They were ok with Sammy but SUCKED with Gary, who was great with Extreme, until they went grunge.

I'd like to see Van Halen return with Chrissy Steele as lead singer.

Probably nothing Sting has worn in concert was as far over the top as his Harkonnen shower-couture in Dune.

Too bad Copeland and his brother who manages him are the far-lefty sons of a former CIA official. And they are very, very pro-Islamist. Was not too sad when Copeland's bro/manager's silly film about belly dancing (which he thought would help us understand those who hate us) flopped. Don't look for their concerts to be politics free.

I was at that show in Atlanta in '83. The outfit is what he wore in the Synchronicity vid. That night they played 2-2 1/2 hours it seemed.
Might have just been the blow and the rum & cokes, too.

I’ll take clinging to the past and dead careers for $100, Alex.

lorien1973 on January 15, 2007 at 7:01 PM
LMAO!

WTF? The Police reuniting? Van Halen with Sammy Hagar? Dems in power?

Truly the end of days….

Syncronicity….

kevcad on January 15, 2007 at 7:19 PM

I don't know -

perhaps the Beatles could possibly crank out a reunion somehow?

As well as Zepplin?

and possibly the Partridge Family as well, just to round it out, so to speak!

That'd truly be the beginning of the end of days!

Sting ever did was play Bass and sign anyways so he’d be ok.

He, uh, wrote a few songs, too.

does the world really need “Don’t Stand So Close to Me” performed with a lyre and harpsichord? Because that’s probably what the “new sound” is going to be like.

I'm not so sure those guys would get into it for that. More likely *because* they don't do harpsichord and lute that he's going back to them.

Moon-battery notwithstanding, in their day the blend of rock & reggae was ground-breaking at the time. I teach electric bass to the occasional youngster. Ghost in the Machine is brilliant in it's simplicity. A beginner can play One World and Too Much Info right away - and it swings. Omega Man for right hand technique, etc. Btw, the coat is on display at the Rock Hall in downtown Cleveland.

Ironically, the Police are probably one of the few bands that could do a reunion tour and sound quite good. Copeland still has his ridiculous chops, I saw a video of him playing from 2005 and he looked amazing. Summers still rocks too, and all Sting ever did was play Bass and sign anyways so he'd be ok.

I'd definitely go see them. I mean c'mon, with the choices we have available to go see right now live, who would you rather see? The Rolling Stones version 199087.0 or the Police version 2.0?

I've seen the Stones, they rocked. Let's get Stew and the boys out for one more tour. It's only right kids.

Can Copeland and Sting co-exist? Supposedly they have grown up, I know they've grown old, but have they grown up. I have a message in a bottle for them, let it go...everybody has done the reunion thing...it's tired man..
