For the record, I’m not trying to accuse AP of cowardice. My reference to Marshall Kane from High Noon was to illustrate that standing up for what is right is no guarantee that others will stand with you, and you may well find yourself outnumbered and outgunned and unappreciated.

Even if that means the enemy comes here to kill THEM. I don’t get it. How do you hate your own president that bad? How can anybody be willing to let fanatical killers into their country just to say they were right? I didn’t like Klinton and I didn’t want us in Bosnia, but I also didn’t hope U.S. would get hurt just so that I could say “Told ya so”.

You know what this reminds me of? One of those old school video games where the bad guys pop out of a little hole, one every 10 seconds or so. No matter how long you stand by the hole and kill them, they just keep coming out. It’s fun for about 20 minutes, but then you realize there are more productive things to do than stand by the hole and you go play the game and deal with the baddies as you encounter them.

So Tony, you stand by the hole and kill them as they pop out until your fingers go numb; I’ll go explore, find a key, kill a boss, rescue a princess, and beat the game.

I can understand why someone would enlist in the Iraqi army and I can sort of understand why someone would become an insurgent, but I can’t understand why anyone would become an Iraqi policeman.
