Damned intelliTXT is annoying..

Wade on January 14, 2007 at 8:53 PM

I fully expected to see Bill Clinton’s picture when I clicked on that link.

And yes, Intellitext sucks.

jaleach on January 14, 2007 at 8:56 PM

If you are using FireFox, install “No Script” and “AdBlock Plus”. It’ll clean things right up.

Thanks GT, those work slick!

Is he still ‘looking’ for the bad guy?

THX GT, great help!!

did you pick a filter? Or edit as you go?

shooter on January 14, 2007 at 9:42 PM

I edit as I go. I’ve been using the filters for so long, I’ve forgotten what some of these sites really look like. I had no idea this site had IntelliTxt until someone said something.

Thanks GT, sometimes I forget how tweakable FF is.

infidel4life on January 14, 2007 at 10:12 PM

Avant browser will block intellitext as well.

Theworldisnotenough on January 14, 2007 at 10:45 PM

Wanna bet that even if the O.J. jury had read this, they still would’ve acquitted him?

Debbie Schlussel on January 14, 2007 at 10:55 PM

OJ could have been caught in the act and still have been acquitted.

Thanks for the tip, GT. Works well.

Slublog on January 14, 2007 at 11:13 PM

Gonna have to switch to FireFox. I despise intellitxt and all of those other little add-ins that highlight text for me.

Back on topic. Aren’t we all just sick and tired of OJ? Just go away. Quit rubbing it in our face that you got away.

Thanks GT! I’m all cleaned up now :)

ekuspa40 on January 14, 2007 at 11:24 PM

Hehe, yep. Firefox beats the pants off of Explorer. Been using it and those two add-ons for quite a while now.

Benaiah on January 14, 2007 at 11:33 PM

Last night, Mad TV did a skit about OJ being interviewed by Judith Regan. Everywhere they went, people called him murderer. It was funny. It would have been hilarious, if I would have just stopped thinking about the two people he all but beheaded.

Agreed. OJ could have been videotaped actually commiting the murders, stood there with blood dripping from him, and done a 30 minute interview, and STILL been aquitted by that jury.

Parasitic Marking Links. Nice and classy touch!

Nothing like Jumping the Shark! Hijacking user comments. Nice!

Debbie Schlussel on January 14, 2007 at 10:55 PM

Nope. Members of the ‘African American’ community here in Los Angeles are still unwilling to say that OJ was a murderer and get vehemently angry if you say that he is. One such woman told me that her brother has been wearing an OJ jersey even.

PRCalDude on January 15, 2007 at 1:11 AM

Does anybody have any advice on how to get rid of this IntelliTxt if you are using IE? I sure would appreciate it.

(Note to the HotAir Administrators: Far be it for me to presume to tell you all how to run your blog. But I find this IntelliTxt stuff to be really anoying.

I don’t want to come across like some sort of anti-commercial, anti-capitalist wacko. I know that advertising is critically important for revenue, and without it, we would all probably end up having to pay-to-read, just like pay-per-view TV.

But IntelliTxt seems to be more anoying than most ads. After all, we have several comments here going on about how to eliminate this type. But none of us want to hurt this blog. Least of all me.

But if this IntelliTxt went away, well, I’d be most grateful and appreciative.

But on the other hand, if any blog deserves to make lots of money, it is this blog. And I don’t wanna take that away from any of you all either.

Anyway, I don’t want to turn this into some grand moral dilema. But that IntelliText stuff is kinda irritating.

I tell you what. If the IntelliTxt stuff goes away, I promise to buy some stuff from the HotAir store. Deal?

EFG on January 15, 2007 at 1:45 AM

Zing!

Anyway, goodnight everyone.

EFG on January 15, 2007 at 2:10 AM

EFG:

There is nothing wrong with criticizing Parasitic techniques in the quess of capitalism. This type of hijacking of content is obtrusive, dishonest, and lack any type of integrity by leaching off the content of others comments or insights.

Egfrow on January 15, 2007 at 2:17 AM

EFG: Then is forces rational people to be extorted to have it stopped. If Hot Air wants to endorse this type of marketing as a way of generating revenue then they should pay the consequences.

Egfrow on January 15, 2007 at 2:18 AM

The fast a dirty way to block IntelliTXT from HotAir is to edit your windows XP hosts file located in your Windows install directory with WordPad, C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts

Just add the following line at the end of the file:
127.0.0.1 {tab} hotair.us.intellitxt.com
Don’t type the word “tab”.
Save it and reboot. It will be gone.

I love how silly intelliTEXT is in selecting ad words. I half expect to see the linked up these days.

Neo on January 15, 2007 at 5:16 AM

Here’s me wishing HA boatloads of revenue from your intellitext. I’m also not complaining about all this awesome, free content.

jdpaz on January 15, 2007 at 10:07 AM

Every resturant OJ walks into, people get up and walk out. When he is on a golf course, men walk off. Everwhere he goes he is subject to ridicule and whispers, he is living a hell. A few coddle him, a few hang on, and that keeps him going. Judith Reagan was one, giving him hope, she was dispatched quickly. The more I see him in public, the more I see him suffer.

right2bright on January 15, 2007 at 10:28 AM

Count me as another fan of Firefox, Adblock Plus and No Script. Been using those for awhile now. Intellitext does come across as a bit obnoxious as an ad gimic. Thankfully, I don’t have to see it.

Sometimes answering a rhetorical question can be a useful exercise in helping others understand the stupidity of the people out here. As goes California …, you know?

Not this member. But, of course, back in 1994, when I opined that he was probably guilty, I got shouted down even by some relatives. My step-dad, however, also said openly back then that Tomato Juice was guilty and the relatives shut up. Nobody shouts Dad down.

Don’t mess with Dad.

I don’t know how on Earth anybody could think otherwise. The members I was talking to said that, since they weren’t there, they couldn’t render a judgment and neither should I. I remarked that I looked at the evidence myself and, yep, he’s guilty. I was stunned that they got so angry about it. I was even more stunned that they thought the Juice was innocent. OJ’s legal team truly did play the race card and dealt from the bottom of the deck.
