I'm glad at least a few here have seen the light with 24. It seems most conservatives just want to look the other way with the political propaganda on this show, similar to how liberals want to look the way when faced with the threat of Islamic fascism. Obviously I understand one is a far worse offense than the other, and that 24 is just a TV show, but I gotta call them the way I see them. And 24 is (mostly) anti-conservative TV. Life changing epiphany? Of course not, but it still needs to be recognized for what it is. Rush and co. are being played for fools, as the writers are making a mockery of our ostensible positions. Ya know, bias isn't only in news rooms, but whatever.

As far as the premiere, I'd say I'm conflicted on what I've seen so far. Since I had such low expectations, it was better than I expected. From purely a TV standpoint it was pretty well done. And no, the politics weren't all liberal, and the second hour balanced it out more so than I expected. But there seems to be two major themes to the season, if the premiere was any indication (and based on what I’ve read, it is): the violation of civil liberties and discrimination/islamophobia against Muslims. I could go in detail on what I say in both of those areas but I'll just keep it short and say it's nice to see 24 has the ACLU and CAIR stamp of approval. I guess you folks can agree with those fantastic organizations on one thing, then: 24 rocks. lol

One, it was more than 45 seconds. I think it either was several minutes or took place during a commercial break. Also, do you remember the first hours of Season 2 where Jack had a beard and lousy clothes and CTU brought him back? It only took him several minutes to shave, shower, and dress. If you had to do this quickly, I'm sure you could do it too.

And somebody driving that kind of car would not only have one but would leave it in their car, exactly!

Actually, a lot of people have carphones with GPS. It makes sense to have a phone with GPS in your car. And yes it makes sense they leave it in their car, hence carphone ...

Wolfman on January 15, 2007 at 12:21 PM

Maybe the Palmers are Lieberman dems? They sure are hawkish when they need to be.

A white guy beating up a Muslim in an american neighborhood is an perfect reason for beating the terrorists NOW and in THEIR countries and not ours.

If you'll drop the parinoia it will become clear that this season is about defeating the terrorists over there and THAT is the antithesis of the liberals plan for failure and results in increased attacks in the USA. In this series there is no war against the terrorists in other countries and the policy country SEEMS to be one of isolationism. Therefore, there is no claim that our policies create more terrorists and the terrorists have gained power, influence and resources BECAUSE we are isolationists. Look at season two when there was a conspiracy to involve the country in a war overseas.

It's pretty clear that in the world of "24", the country is following a policy of isolationism and yet the terrorist attacks are increasing exponetially. Ergo, I see no "hidden" liberal agenda.

Jim, I think you misunderestimate Jack. For one, Jack has always been special .. obviously he has extraordinary mental skills. He is also a trained soldier — Delta Force, I think.

So he can shave and shower off 2 years' worth of crud and get dressed in 45 seconds, exactly!

It’s possible someone has a fully charged cellphone, it’s called a carphone. A carphone with GPS. They make ‘em.

And somebody driving that kind of car would not only have one but would leave it in their car, exactly!

This is what I'm saying. I love this show.

I guess I'm in the minority here, because I'm with Patriot33. So far the premiere has been very dissapointing. The worst part about it is that the season would have been a lot better if they had cut out the first two scenes. They really should have started with Jack getting off the plan and let Buchanon handle the exposition about what's been happening. And just to show I'm not some kind of hater, the second hour was pretty good, aside from the fact that Yassir Arafat gets a complete tabula rasa after claiming (with no evidence, mind you) that he's going legit. The first hour kinda sucked, though. Anyway, some of those 'I can't believe they just did that' moments that Rush talked about had better come today, or today might be the last time I watch it.

For your consideration, I have provided a list of all the liberal bs that I noticed in the first two hours:
* During the President's briefing, the TV is set to the Caliphate News Network, which is reporting that there have been attacks on at least one mosque as a coutnerattack. You know, because fundamental Christians are just as dangerous as radical Islams.
* In a moment that was ripped straight from one of the dumbest scenes of season two, a local muslim is assaulted by neighbors because he is a muslim. This time, it's even worse because they aren't charicatured as red necks. The message this time? This is you and me. All us whiteys are racists that react with violence to things that are different.
* The president's briefing. I swear I've never seen a larger group of nancy boys whining about how it's better to let every last American be butchered than to fight terrorists and risk being called *gasp!* discrimatory. Seriously, there was no one in that room that had a pair except. . .
* Tom Lennox. That's right ladies and gents, this is the strawman used to represent what the writers think of you and me. He's the token 'conservative' who shows what a rightwing fascist he is by advocating the policies of what was arguably our most leftwing president.

The fact that CAIR was staffed and represented by black Americans instead of Arabs seemed kind of odd, and so was the fact that the spokesman for the group wanted to work with the goverment to do something other than lie about its purpose, but I suppose I'll let that go.

To whoever asked, yeah, the Palmers are Democrats. That was mentioned once on one episode in season one, and then never again.

Good not great. Deadwood ruined me for pretty much anything else. David Milch is the Shakespeare of our times. I suspect Rome would be more my speed. Nice to see Amed blow himself up-but two hours for a flash of satisfaction is par for network TV.

Awesome..thanks for the confirm. I keep forgetting Voyager was a few years ago. He seemed so young in that show. Alas, Geri is in one of those awful law firm shows, isn't she? She'd be a perfect power executive type from district. She has such a severe look with her hair up. Maybe put her out in the field with Jack as he gets his mojo back...I'm hoping Jack gets his mojo back. We need Jack Bauer, terrorist scourge, not Jacques Bauvier, terrorist sympathizer. Can't blame the guy for being a bit off his game though. Can't wait til tonight. Cheers all.

Yes, JaHerer22, "Conservatives Only" bathrooms exist already.Didn't you know?

You'll know you are in one when the toilet paper roll is missing and a partially unreadable "Book of Peace" is on the floor at your feet.

VERY BIG YAWN!!

Da-Bears! [In overtime, but it still counts.]

FINALLY!! Another fan of the Monsters of the Midway!!

The bears are to sign Jack Bauer onto their offensive line thxx.

Lighten up on 24 and trying to find life connections.

This is so far off the mark of real for the tactical side of the govt that it's sick. It's all entertainment, and it's damn good at that.

I hope Jack boinks Chloe. 3 times.

Jesus Christ can't we just watch the show and all enjoy ourselves while Jack kills terrorists and blows stuff up. I'm pretty sure Jack Bauer, the unkillable supercop, is more interested in action and entertainment than political indoctrination.

I might not what our government to torture people but that doesn't mean it's not damn entertaining to watch Jack Bauer do it. It's a TV show, if you have nothing better to do than scour it for hidden political propaganda get a life. What's next 'conservatives only' bathrooms?

What I really wish I had been able to pinpoint is who the actor was playing the FBI agent that took the Palmer lady into custody. For a couple of moments, I swear he looked like Tom Paris from Voyager…seemed a little old though. Anyone else recognize him?

Yes, he is Tom Paris from Voyage. Of all the Star Trek series, that one is my favorite. DS9 was the worst.

Back to "24". Jack chewing off that terrorists jugular was the best I have ever seen. I expect many Chuck Norris type of sayings because of that one.

According to TV.com, the FBI agent was played by Scott William Winters, so Nonfactor was right.

Too bad no one can make him talk, because only Jack Bauer can answer this question:

Do terrorists taste like chicken?

I actually thought there was a lot of not-so-subtle Bush bashing in tonight's episodes. Still great though.
