I guess that most have already made up their minds on this bill and that the ‘debate’ is actually a show designed to give the appearance that the Representatives are doing the jobs they were elected to do, like actually debate bills on the floor.

Just to make it clear, I do not agree with this increase. I think it should stay at $5.15 per hour.

At least you remembered the additional Taxes that add to that ‘raise’. It also doesn’t include other costs like workmans comp that WILL rise as well. Basically, an hourly employee that is paid $7.50 will cost the employer over $10.00 an hour.
ONLY the big box stores can survive in profitability. Most small business (under 10 employees-which make up 80% of the workforce in America) will struggle) can not raise prices as nominaly as a Walmart. If Big Box raises a few cents per item and sells hundreds of thoudsands of items, no big deal. Small businesses don’t have that ability, especially mom & pops with under $300,000.00 gross revenues.
In 20 years we will all be doing shopping in massive super stores. Grocery stores will be one stop shopping conglomerates, food, banking, flowers, photo printing, dry-cleaning,liquor,gas, automotive…OH, they’re already started. Except for dry-cleaning which is on its way ,soon.
65% of flower shops have closed since 1990. 70% of one hour photo stores have closed since 2003. (In part because of super fast digital growth and poor planning).
The way you shop is not going to be the way your grandkids shop.
BUT, what about all those small business owners?????and their employees????

I (and many on this board) would be outraged if the Democrats did it…I’m equally outraged when I have to hear this crap from the Republicans.
