It's a blessing that we only have a few years left of the Tony Snowjob, White House, dog and pony show.
Pssst Tony, move to Paraguay with the Bushs, because after your White House snake oil act, nobody will ever believe you again.

Since "Jumil Hussein" is a pseudonym as stated by the AP, the man they have been claiming as a source doesn't exits. There is no such thing as a real pseudonym, now is there?

For months the AP has been using this name as a credible news source without using a quantifier like "we shall call him," putting his name in quotes, or using any other means to identify the fact that the name they use is a pseudonym, like most reputable news publishers would. Since the AP didn't claim that the name was a pseudonym until now, this raises more questions then it answers.

Ether the AP should produce the real man, or they should stop using that name as we all know that source doesn't actually exist.

The AP shot themselfs in the foot on this one.

Oh, and before anyone claims that using a pseudonym for a source is a valid excuse or tactic when questions of the credibility of a reported event arise, how would you feel if the Bush administration started using pseudonyms as sources in their reporting of world events without reporting that fact that the source in question is actually a pseudonym? My guess is that you would scream bloody murder and call for impeachment.

Tony Snow: Blog Reader...

In an interview with Hugh Hewitt, Tony Snow asks if Hugh's heard "the latest" on Jamil Hussein, then says "the latest" is that Jamil Hussein is back to "non-existing." That may be a little overstated, but really, there's only one......

Since none of the 60-some-odd lurid stories reported by the AP's source, "Jamil Hussein", have been corroborated by anyone else, clearly anyone less rabid a Bush-hater than DriftedOutToSea would conclude that something funny's going on there.

Tony Snow/Hugh Hewitt on Iraqslogger:

I would not be surprised to see some of those people not going out in the field, but maybe back at barracks, turning on the video camera, shooting a picture, and saying you know what? Let me tell you what’s really going on here, and why, and how I see it. That sort of stuff gets on a Youtube, or a Livelink, or any of these other things. It’s going to get out. I mean, there are many different ways now for people to get a glimpse of what’s actually happening.

Sounds like Tony's not just hoping for Michelle/Yon/Roggio to bring more news and videos to the forefront, he is endorsing it.

Clearly Allahpundit, you are simply not rabid enough for some of your readers. Perhaps a potshot at the free jamil hussein banner was going too far.

Whats going to be interesting is when the IRAQUI Government goes after AP... they don't have the same traditions guarding the press from being held accountable.

Freedom of the Press is meant to sheild them from Prior constraint, not the consequence of printing lies or Secrets.

The American Press really needs to be reigned in... somehow they have gotten the idea they are above the law.

Well, I would like Tony to offer to pay for the guys trip to Washington... in secret, even. What excuse does the AP have to not produce him then? He's quite famous now... and if the AP DOES produce someone, it should be easy to factcheck and see if the guy could have been "Jamil."

The problem I have with the current story is this:

The AP can say that this guy is Jamil, knowing that he will deny it - for good reason. That way they know that, while they can never be proven right by this state of affiars, they can't be proven to have been lying either.

Thus, even though their stories cannot be corroborated, even though their was no source of they name they originally used, even though they did not disclose the fact that they used a psuedonym, even though they stonewalled for a long time, even though they finally produce somebody who they say was the source used with the psuedonym, and even though the person in question denies it (for ostensibly good reasons, whether true or false), taking the AP's word on it now lets them slither away from the whole thing saying that we can't prove beyond a doubt that they made up any of this stuff.

I'll save my suspension of disbelief for Sunday night's premeire of '24', thank you very much.

Sorry, I'm still not 100% convinced that Jamil Hussein was just a pseudonym for DirkaDirka Mohammed Jihad or whatever his name was, or that he even existed. They've been caught in lies before regarding this case, as well as being caught in blatantly violating their own policies and journalistic ethics, and their stories that relied on "Jamil Hussein" can't be corroborated ... but now I'm just supposed to accept that they are telling the unmistaken truth because they said so?

My skeptic-o-meter does not turn off that easily.

The whole reason news sources cling to rights of anonymous tipsters is

A.) Excuse to treason and

B.) Excuse to make up news.

AP daily affirmation:

You can be whatever you want to be!

So, how would you like to be an Iraqi police captain named Jamil Hussein?"

In my opinion, the whole issue is full of unanswered questions and speaks of AP's distribution of propaganda that supports their politcial agenda rather than reporting facts.

I would not be so quick to dismiss this issue even if this Captain Hussein is produced. Questions such as why didn't he come forward before, why are other elements of reporting associated with this source not verifiable or are contradicted, and why does the one who is supposed to by Captain Hussein deny ever talking to the AP?

I believe the AP is trying to cover up their opertions because the more one examines the details the more obvious it becomes that they are more interested in publishing propaganda from the Left in their "reporting".

I believe the MSM is perhaps the biggest single weakness the United States has, and is more interested in their own political agenda than the welfare and interests of the citizens of the United States.

I hope this expose will be only the tip of the iceberg in the attention the MSM receives. Perhaps "APgate" will bring the public's attention to the Imperious nature of the MSM and their efforts to mold public opinion to their Left Ideology.
