Well, for one, it has Gingrich as “strongly supports” for tougher immigration policy (which is true), but has Tancredo as merely “supports” … which is insane. If Gingrich “strongly supports” then Tancredo should be listed as “super-duper strongly supports”. Like him or not, you can’t deny that Tancredo has the toughest stance on immigration in the entire field.

It only has Romney as “undecided/middle of the road” on the issue when he is a proponent of stronger border enforcement.

It has Bill Richardson as “strongly supports” on tougher immigration laws, something I have never heard from him.

It has Biden listed as hawkish (“supports” for pre-emptive war).

It has Gingrich as being opposite of the “no time line for withdrawal” position, yet I’ve yet to hear Gingrich ever call for a time line for withdrawing troops from Iraq. It also has Gingrich supporting plans to redeploy troops now.

They are 180 degrees out on Mitt Romney’s position regarding federal funding for stem cell research (he opposes, they list him as supporting).

They’ve got Duncan Hunter as strongly supporting gun control when he has a lifetime A+ rating from the NRA.

I’m sure I can find more if I go on …

This election could be for the soul of the Republican party. Does it differentiate itself from the Democrats? Or do we get the big government, “compassionate conservative” party that won’t fight for anything but the war in Iraq and illegal immigrants while making nice with the other party who accuses them of Naziism?

Senator Thompson is doing Paul Harvey’s show again this week. I understand he’s slated to take it over full-time when Paul either croaks or retires. But I’ve heard him say in a radio interview on a San Diego local station that he’s made preliminary inquiries into the possibility of running. If I remember his comments at all, his parameters for choosing to toss his hat in were based on there being no Republican candidate with national sovereignty and constitutional rule of law as first priorities. Given that, he might well show up.

As for McCain, he gets no respect until he understands the 1st, 4th, 10th and 14th Amendments.

I must confess that I do not understand the anti-McCain sentiment. The most important issue is the war, and McCain has been solid from the beginning. I trust him to fight it more than any other candidate.

Can you say, “McCain-Feingold Lieberal Protection Act”? Can you say, “Open borders for all”? How about, “No judges that read the Constitution as it was written”? Those are McCain’s babies.

That would be the most awesome thing that has ever been awesome before. Seriously, can you imagine what a DoD press briefing would be like with The Gunny from Full Metal Jacket? We’d be reading transcripts as awesome as this:

McCain and his gang of 14 effectively stopped almost every conservative measure coming out of the house. He is a media hog and not to be trusted. He would make a good nominee for the Dems.

Oh Good GOD! – “we’D like but she’D be” !

The voters MUST wake up! If we elect some weak kneed liberal our way of life is over. All other issues aside, I will vote for whomever promises to continue fighting against the global islamic jihad. If they break that promise, we impeach ‘em.

As much as I disagree with Rudy, McCain, Mitt, etc, I will vote for whichever one is the most hawkish on the issue of war against those who wish to destroy our great nation.

I personally believe that Condi is that person. She has been playing “Good Cop” since becoming S.o.S. because that’s her job, however I think in real life she’s the “Bad Cop” she played as N.S.A. in the first term. She may not be as far to the right (as Reagan) on domestic issues as we’s like but she’s be the most hawkish on the only issue that really matters today and will affect us for several generations to come. We need a foriegn policy Reaganite president to lead us through this war. If we lose in ’08 to a Carterlike demonrat, our grandchildren will pay the price (in the form of the jizya tax).

Are we America? Or are we Spain? We’ll find out in ’08. God help us if we make the wrong choice.

A) That quiz sucks.
B) The chart is wrong on many issues for a lot of candidates.

nice link; I wonder if any of the position characterizations are correct? If so, I can pretty much drop Mitt right now…

Not only did he get the NYCers like Mayor Guliani, he got the upstate hippies.

The rest of the choices all suck, minus Newt, who’s unelectable.

My actual first choice isn’t listed…and I’m sure he won’t run…but it’s Fred Thompson.

We really need another Ronald Reagan, but I suppose that mold has been, as they say, broken. This is far too important a time in history for a lack-luster bunch of candidates.

If a Democrat gets in office now, were all dead.

2008 is going to suck. Oh well, maybe 2012 will be better.
