I don’t want to be harsh, but her credibility is approaching Greenwaldian levels.
Carolinians call it “Tobacco Road,” I call it the Path to a Directed Verdict:
* In her latest statement she said the attack ended at midnight.
In previous accounts, the woman said the gang-rape ended shortly before she left in the car driven by Kim Roberts, the second dancer. Roberts called 911 as she was driving away at 12:53 a.m., according to police records. This new account leaves 50 minutes unaccounted between the end of the rape and the departure from the party.
The new statement runs contrary to time stamped photos of the party, which show the two women dancing between 12:00 and 12:04 a.m. in the living room of the house at 610 N. Buchanan Blvd.
* In the latest statement, the woman says she arrived at the party at 11:10 p.m. on March 13 and that the rape began at 11:40 p.m. Her cell phone records show that she was on phone with her father and others up to one minute before the rape allegedly started.
* The woman now said her alleged assailants used multiple names.
In previous accounts, she said she was assaulted by three men named “Adam”, “Brett” and “Matt.” She has given conflicting descriptions of the three men and contradictory accounts of how they assaulted her.
In the Dec. 21 interview, she said for the first time that the players used multiple names. “Dan, Adam and Brett was used by Dave Evans,” Wilson wrote. “Adam and Matt was also used by Reade Seligmann. She does not remember a name being used for Collin Finnerty or if he was called by a name.”
* The accuser has changed her description of Evans. On April 4, she viewed a photograph of Evans and said it looked like one of her assailants, except that the assailant had a moustache. In the Dec. 21 statement, the woman said the assailant had a five o’clock shadow, not a moustache. Evans has a visible five o’clock shadow in the photograph.
* In her recent statement, the woman said that Evans stood in front of her and made her perform sex on him. In past statements, she said that Seligmann did this.
60 Minutes is going to put the dagger in this weekend when they interview Nifong’s DNA expert. I’m laughing already.
The forensic expert hired by the prosecutor in the Duke rape case says he made a “big error” in judgment by not stating in his report that the only DNA he found on the accuser was from several men who were not on the Duke lacrosse team…
Meehan has stated that he told the prosecutor, Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong, about the other DNA for the first time in mid-April. Later that same month, Nifong indicted three Duke lacrosse players. Meehan has also said in court proceedings that he and Nifong agreed before the evidence tests were completed that his report should be limited to positive matches between the accuser and the players at the team party where she says she was sexually assaulted last March.
Meehan says writing an incomplete report violates his own firm’s standards. “It was an error in judgment on my part. … It certainly was a big error,” says Meehan. He says his firm wasn’t trying to hide the information and that it released it when it was asked. But his client’s behavior irks him, he says.
Nifong took six months to tell the players’ defense attorneys about the other DNA, as required by law — and during that time, Nifong filed a court motion that stated he was not aware of any potentially exculpatory evidence.

Directed verdict? You are in a charitable mood today aren’t you? How would he get that far? Heh.
Then he can start the Path to Sanctions.

Don’t rush to judgement, there’s a larger truth here even if the factual details aren’t fully in keeping with the truth.
A Larger Truth, one that needs to be examined.
billy on January 11, 2007 at 9:40 PM
There has to be a legal course that would cause Nifong to suffer at least as much as the young people he has falsely accused. This bum is nothing more than a brown shirt tyrant. Allowing this to happen in America says volumes about the state of this society.

Forged but accurate?

I don’t want to make light of rape at all…but…
Why the hell does the accuser, even on simply her “word” (no matter how often that “word” changes) have guaranteed anonymity, and the accused has their names and everything else plastered all over the press???
These guys have had their lives totally screwed up because of one person’s accusations. And it’s certainly not limited to just these Lacrosse players…I don’t know the numbers, but it has to be at least in the high hundreds across the country every year.
So these guys have had their lives turned upside down for a very long time, and the woman will most likely forever be unknown…at least until she writes a book or something…
Sorry, but this makes no sense…

civil suit anyone?

Being a resident of NC, and being a Dookie(not an alum I’m sad to say, but a fan), this has been a pebble in my Preparation H for nine months now. We can officially call it a legal mal-practice pregnancy. With the total incompetence of Nifong, not to mention the political hack-job he orchestrated, a new term for being royally screwed in NC has come about; Being Nifonged. We can add him to the list of least favorite legal opportunists, right there with Flee Bailey, Johnny Cockroach, and now “Hack” Nifong. At least he and other DA zealots around the country are taking some of the heat off of defense attorneys……
ritethinker on January 11, 2007 at 9:47 PM
Will Nifong get away with it and keep his place in the election that he, well stole is not quite the right word now, is it?
Apparently he is scum but he is their scum so he gets to stay.
bbz123 on January 11, 2007 at 9:48 PM
The entirety of Nifrong’s case rests upon an assumption: Strippers never lie.
Anyone here ever actually know any strippers? No, I don’t mean in a biblical sense. I mean, have you ever had any direct personal acquaintance — other than client/dancer — with a stripper?
“Trustworthy” is an adjective seldom applied to practicioners of that profession. Diogenes with his lamp might travel the world and never find an honest stripper ….
Ali-Bubba on January 11, 2007 at 10:00 PM
That may be the case, Ali, but I think it is rather clear that He knew full well that she was lying and useless in the long run but a very lucky break for him to exploit his way into office. The Godfather of the Dems , Billy Jeff, paved the way for them to think this way, and they all think they can get away with it,because, well, they keep getting away with it.

If anything ever called for a Charlie Brown parody, it’s this story.

Well, I know a former stripper pretty well. I’m dating her. ;)
ReubenJCogburn on January 11, 2007 at 10:33 PM
Well Allah, you may have gotten into this story late in the game, but you’re already up to speed ;-) . Trust me, you didn’t miss a thing by not following it sooner. This has been the never ending cycle of stories. I’m just waiting for her to mention that the guys had green skin and big buggy eyes.
IndependentConserv on January 11, 2007 at 10:35 PM
My best stripper story is when I asked her name and she replied Dancer, what’s yours? I said, customer…..

They should ask her what happened to JFK’s brain while they’re at it.
She has more conflicting theories than the second gunman crowd.
(Maybe he raped her?)
I’m tempted to go to Duke and admit that I did it.
(I’d be lying, but why should that matter?)
Good thing she’s the right minority du jour.
That gives her carte blanche.
(Or should that be carte noir?)
profitsbeard on January 11, 2007 at 10:45 PM
Of course if the case is dropped I’m sure we’re going to hear from the “usual suspects” that it only because of the “victims” race that it’s being dropped.
mlong on January 11, 2007 at 10:48 PM
I’d love to see the Duke rugby teamand Duke LAX team take Nikon out and beat the crap out of him.
At this point, he certainly deserves some retribution. He only completely screwed over three young guy’s lives.
Happens every day…IN THE INNER CITY.

The only gang rape was that of Nifong against the Duke Lacross students.

I live in Durham-Raleigh…it’s insulting, angering, and embarassing that this case is STILL going on. What’s Hot Air’s policy on naming her? It’s really the worst kept secret behind Strom Thurmond’s bi-racial daughter. Just give me the word, and I’ll name that lying wench. However, you can also go to this site and read ALL about this case. It’s been shredded and re-shredded and re-re-shredded.

No, Meehan did not release the complete results when asked. To the contrary, Nifong read aloud in court a letter from Meehan objecting to turning over the complete report citing “privacy” and “cost” considerations.
He turned over the report only when ordered to do so by the judge.
After the attempted coverup was revealed, Meehan claimed they were only trying to avoid dragging innocent names through the mud, yet was unable to explain how stating that DNA tests eliminated all 46 Duke Lacrosse players would harm their privacy.
Meehan’s reputation is at the bottom of the snake pit alongside Nifong’s.

I don’t want to go into the truth or b.s. about this case because it’s obviously a total crock that this bitch made up.
What I really would like to know is, what exactly motivates Nifong. My suspicion is that he is a “barn yard rooster” type and will never back down, even when he’s wrong, and he knows he’s wrong. Watch the clips that are played over and over of him walking to the court house. Notice his puffed out chest strut and defiant look. Don’t know for sure how tall he is, but I would guess 5′8″ at best, but with an attitude of a 6′4″ dude. Sounds like a Napoleanic complex to me. He even buys shirts that are way too big for him, look at how much sleeve length there is after he buttons the cuff, must be at least three more inches. And the back has enough material left over to build a sail with it. I guess he’s never heard of form fitting.
In short, yea I meant it that way, he’ll only give up when he gets a shoe up his ass, just like a a barn yard rooster.

What fuggin planet am I living on? Oh dear, are you so blind Infidel4life, that you cannot see?
Every 7.46 minutes in these United States of America, a single mother, of minority persuasion, is savagely raped.
Brave men, like Mike Nifong, stand up to this injustice and establish peace. For as you, jalech, surely know– NO Justice; NO Peace
The facts, as you demand them, may not conform exactly to the parameters of what is commonly called true, yet that does not answer the larger question: who will stand with the children?
billy on January 12, 2007 at 12:51 AM
Billy, get off your soapbox and sober up!
stonemeister on January 12, 2007 at 1:07 AM
This case won’t end for the Duke Lacrosse players until the victim IDs a picture of GWB, Club Nancy will then declare Nifong a “Hero of the State” and erect statues in his likeness.

infidel4life on January 12, 2007 at 1:26 AM
Billy, you have paid NO attention to this case at all, aside from hearing “minority female stripper alleges rape”, right?? Either that, or you are at TRUE nimrod to believe the story of a woman who not only has changed her story 50 times, but has been proven to have had 6 men’s semen in her body, none of which came from the men she accused of raping her in, now alleged, 5 mins.
I got news for you, Sport, Nifong is no brave man…he’s a subborn jackass, that got caught steering a case for political gain…and cannot back down.
And what children are you talking about?? HER children?? Obviously, she’s a great influence on them…
tickleddragon on January 12, 2007 at 1:26 AM
I’d hope that these guys think twice before ever hosting an event like this again. It reminds me of the guy who can’t figure out why the prostitute robbed him once they got to the secluded alley. You invite trash into your home, expect to get dirty.
And please don’t say that I shouldn’t judge. The woman had the DNA of 5 different guys in her. I think my asessment is spot on.
arteest on January 12, 2007 at 1:30 AM
tickleddragon, where do I begin? My heart aches for you, for you who have focused only on the narrow facts, mean, racist facts, while ignoring the subtext of a racist patrimony exercising a post-structural hegemony upon your very mind.
So be it.
You want facts.
Facts?
Fact is she only had semen from five men in her minority body.
Not six, but five.
Embarassed much?

DoctorDentons on January 12, 2007 at 7:10 AM
It’s CYA time. This guy clearly sees the lawsuits coming and is positioning Nifong under the bus.
I wonder when one of the Assistant DA’s in Nifong’s office will jump ship and put the bus in drive?
A complaint was filed against Nifong with the NC State Attorney General’s office.
Has anyone seen anything on the status of the investigation?
BacaDog on January 12, 2007 at 7:39 AM
Nifong was running in an election that was looking like he would lose, he saw this as an opportunity to sew up the black vote pure and simple, so he went for it, won and now the price will be paid. Will he lose his position? Probably not.
bbz123 on January 12, 2007 at 7:51 AM
Billy, we get your sarcasm slant, it’s just that you are not smart enought to pull it off. You end up rambling, and then you have to defend your vague sarcastic references. My advice, just do it once in awhile for impact. I am sure as you are writing it, you see yourself as the funniest most clever guy in the world. It is getting old.
right2bright on January 12, 2007 at 8:23 AM
Where are the woman groups now (NOW)? This is where they stand up and say a woman like this demeans or dilutes or twists the meaning of rape. They should be blasting her, the harm she has done to women with real rape charges is immeasurable.
They would rather stand by a liar than “turn” on their own.
right2bright on January 12, 2007 at 8:28 AM
It worked real well for Sharpton, Nifong is just following the template.
bbz123 on January 12, 2007 at 8:47 AM
Don’t ya’ll understand? This is a narrative about white male power and privilege. Names, like “Biff” or “Jeff” or whatever white lacrosse players call themselves, are mere social constructs meant to perpetuate the white male power structure. The larger “truth” here is that, regardless of whether these particular white males raped this particular woman of color, the damning fact that all of you are avoiding is that people of color everywhere have been repeatedly raped by white males for centuries.

Billy made me laugh.
KennyB on January 12, 2007 at 9:21 AM
Big news out about strippers and such. Apparently, because they shave their privates and have many ingrown hairs, they are becoming petri dishes for MRSA. MSRA is a really bad staph infection that is resistant to most antibiotics and has a mortality rate of 5% or more. Experts believe strippers develop butt pimples and can transmit the infection when they give “lap dances” to their equally nasty customers, who then develop the infection. So all you pigs out there, beware the butt pimpled stripper. Which is probably most of them.

The fact that she is able to “re-tell” her story, shows that their was no “rush” to judgement. As her memories of the horrible night unfolds, she can more accuratly detail what happended. The trauma was so great, and those kids were drunk, calling each other by different names, it all became a blur. They may have drugged a drink they handed me.
Nifongs issuing her next statement. And some will believe it.
right2bright on January 12, 2007 at 10:57 AM
Don’t want to be harsh? Don’t want to be f—ing harsh?!?!
This lying skank falsely (yes, FALSELY, as is so painfully obvious now) accused 3 men of rape, dragged their name through the mud, forced them (with Nifong’s help, of course) through the meat grinder of the legal system, forced them to incur a forturne in legal expenses, caused an extreme amount of stress on both the players themselves as well as their families, caused major racial division in the community, and who knows what else … and you don’t want to be harsh?!?!
Sorry, it’s waaaaaay past time for being harsh on her … it’s time to be Tony Soprano harsh, on both her and Nifong. I hope the falsely accused get a good lawyers and sue everybody they can, including the stripper, and f— her pathetic life up far worse than it already is.
This I would call “getting off light”.
thirteen28 on January 12, 2007 at 11:37 AM
Judging from more lengthy reports at the various blogs following this, this woman’s accounts may have changed to reflect new information … as in altering “moustache” to “shadow.” That reported as apparently
she saw more photos. If that’s true, then coaching comes to mind immediately, in order to modify the original testimony to more closely match the later evidence. Then, of course, the question comes, who might the coach be?
naliaka on January 12, 2007 at 12:18 PM
Does this Nifong have some sort of professional death wish? I can’t remember a more poorly handled investigation into a crime. What a disgrace.
