of course it was not a PC "miscommunication", they lied. We all saw that comming though that they would label it as such.
Rather than prosecute the terrorists, or expect them to speak english while working in the U.S. as citizens, the port gaurd will undoubtedly have to take diversity training and learn 121 different languages in order to keep his job.
In addition there will be a lawsuit wher ethe 3 terrorists collect a mill or so each for their "profiling" experience.

What ever became of the "one is wanted for a felon" report?

Yep, definetly a DRY RUN. First the airlines with the "Flying Imams" now the port of Miami, what's next?

Oh yeah, I'll be over at the "passing gas" thread for that.

All who are thinking dry run have it right. Too many things point to it. Then you hear Dearborn and that is the icing on the cake. Wake up folks! They want ALL who are not Muslim DEAD. There will be another attack and the naysayers will hopefully wake up before it is too late.

I don't believe a word in the media that says it was miscommunication. Me thinks it is being kept under wraps and investigated. Just pray that it is so and that we have twarted another possible attack.

Profiling should rule.

Drifter, that sounds morbidly funny. Just proves that our bureaucracy works almost as good as the European one, where some dead people in France were found in front of the TV, running, months later, same in Austria, same here...

If only you wouldn't connect it to Mr. Bush you'd make me laugh on the face of the article.

All well here in South. Calif. New year, new programs at work, new challenges, old/new news daily, old/new e-friends on HA, never boring.

Regards to you and family and be good,

I don't know that this is the case, and want to make clear that I'm not necessarily jumping to the conclusion... but I would like to say what almost no one else wants to:

Don't underestimate their stupidity rockhauler! The guys who perpetrated the first WTC bombing went back to Ryder (?) to get their deposit refunded---after reporting the truck stolen! Not the brightest bulbs on the tree.

Most of the guys hauling those containers are independent contractors, a.k.a. owner-operators.

Anyone who employs a driver younger than 21 years old is in violation of federal regulations. (Fox news reported that the driver was 20 years old.) Unauthorized passengers are also a violation. Not knowing the cargo is also a violation, but I hauled a lot of loads where I had no clue what it was. Not having correct shipping documentation is also a violation. From the news conference as covered by Fox, the only violations I see are the under age driver, and unauthorized passengers. The passenger with an outstanding warrant is most likely a co-driver with an unpaid traffic citation, or other violation.

Probably, ‘the company’ will turn out to be the guy who has title to the truck.

Law enforcement has a long history with violators like these three guys, going back to the days when independent contractors were hauling bootleg booze during prohibition. The Department of Transportation (DOT) shuts down guys like these three, everyday.

If this was reconnaissance it would be STOOOOOPID to make these types of mistakes.

If this was a terrorist attack, violence would have started before the security guard approached the truck, or at the moment he discovered the undeclared passengers.

The real danger is terrorist infiltration of port operations, or transportation, (think airline baggage handlers, ground support vendors, etc). Once you have successfully embedded an agent ‘inside’, then carrying out an effective attack is relatively easy.

Which, of course, means pre-employment background checks, and a government agency to do them.

Dunno what this might have been or might not have been but I think that whoever noticed this and sounded the alarm needs a pat on the back.

100% of our nations security lies directly on the shoulders of guys and gals who perform usually boring thankless jobs day in and day out. It's nice to know that they're not all asleep at the switch.

I think you called it accurately on your blog, Nethicus.

This was a probe of security. The sort of dry run the 19 September 11, 2001 hijackers took the week before they did the deed.

They were looking to get something in or out, my bet is get something in.

Miami Port Clamped Down...

Riehl World View

Update: Bomb Squad on scene, which doesn't mean much, really. That would be prudent to check the cargo. There is a news conference coming up at 3:30 EST - running details available via Fox TV.

See Florida Cracker for details. h/t Al...

I've been Liveblogging this at The Autopsy.

Turns out the container had very dangerous auto-parts.

But it may have been a "probe" of port security. All were young men of middle-eastern descent.

Oh, and they all originated from Dearborn, MI.

Heya Entelechy, how's it? You thought that was funny. Check this out, while we wait for the follow up to this port enigma. Now we know where Bush intended to get the additional troops necessary to surge and why it won't work. From onegoodmove.

Lets see how long it takes for attorneys and CAIRless to get there.
Just another flying imam chapter? The trucking imam saga? A set-up?
Somehow, not knowing how many people are in your truck, and not knowing what the cargo is in your truck, will be a prayer thing. A muslim prayer thing....again.

Hearty laugh indeed. Thanks for sharing Drifter.

I thought there is some hope for Muhammar Quadaffi but he just reverted to the <strike>latrine</strike> bulls-eye. We each chose how we live and die, especially the big ones...

Just waiting for CAIR to say we violated their rights…

flagwaver on January 7, 2007 at 3:14 PM
The Council are still in good health, then? I admit it's a little disappointing, but it's the sort of indulgence one comes to expect of the patient, restrained Americans.
