Man, a lot of corrections. Perhaps they ought to hire some bloggers.

why is the corrections page so long? Is fact checking happening any more over there?

I was shocked by the number of corrections as well. I don’t read the Times. Do they run a corrections page every day?

Guardian on January 7, 2007 at 10:10 PM

OK this is off topic, but it completely states the attitude of the leftist press that we’re all going to hell in a handbasket. Check out the poll on the left the page about halfway down in this page
happy laffin!

To steal a phrase coined by someone else, heh.

No, only when they make a mistake.

/oh…never mind…

I recently had a photograph published in an astronomy magazine. The reference text had a error. It should have said “the Moon was only 22 hours past new”, instead it said 47 hours… I was disappointed because the added 25 hours makes all the difference in the world for the interest of the image.

The only thing that makes me smile about the mistake is that I can now say that I was right, and the science magazine was… wrong.

I don’t know why they changed my included text… but it seems that it’s everywhere (adjusted truth/facts).

That’s a good pickup, tiger. It’s like “Have you stopped beating your wife? Yes or no?”

By the way, congrats on a great Sugar Bowl win, from a humble ND alum.

Just going off of memory of previous posts but….

Didn’t previous information state the child was strangled, and that it was full term?

If so, how credible is an investigation that cannot tell the difference between an 18 week old baby and a full term one?

Also, why didn’t the Times correction state she was convicted of strangling her baby rather than “was born alive and died in its first minutes of life.”? Died in its first minutes of life makes it sound like the baby died naturally.

Did they run out of room on their correction page?

As for the number of screw-ups in the original article, one has to wonder why they went to press with it in the first place. Obviously there was a whole lot of checking that wasn’t done at all on this single article.

Are all the editors there too busy checking the next national security damaging classified information leak to check any other story?

Yeah the times runs a correction page everyday, it’s called their newspaper…because it’s a mistake waiting to be corrected…….

BCS welfare hurts just as much as government welfare.

The NYT needs a “Corrections” Section, like “Sports”, “Metro” and “Lifestyle”.

I have watched this story, and it is such a travesty business as usual.

From the Times “correction” ….

The Times should have obtained the text of the ruling of the three-judge panel before the article was published, but did not vigorously pursue the document until details of the ruling were brought to the attention of editors in late November. had their collective heads up their @sses as usual and decided to run with the story they wanted to be true, rather than checking the facts.

There, fixed it for ya.
