Making fun of the Sept. 11th 5th anniversary? Nope, not funny.

John Stewart needs to grow up.

Enoxo on January 6, 2007 at 12:53 AM

Not to be a stick in the mud, but I havn’t been impressed by John Stewart in a long time. The liberal snark is just too obvious now.

Verbal Abuse on January 6, 2007 at 12:59 AM

I actually thought that was kinda funny

Defector01 on January 6, 2007 at 1:03 AM

I remember when the Daily Show was good.

-despite making fun of 9/11 (typical), the clip was pretty funny.

Opinionnation on January 6, 2007 at 1:03 AM

Not funny.

EnochCain on January 6, 2007 at 1:08 AM

I’m really sorry Ian, but I missed your whole post…something about Little Richards or Keith Richards or something like that.

It’s just that when I saw that Cadillac commercial staring Joan Jett I lost all interest in anything else.

Sorry man. Ordinarily I always read your posts, but she is simply too smokin’ hot and cool for me to spend my viewing time with anything else.

EFG on January 6, 2007 at 1:20 AM

Too funny!

Emmett J. on January 6, 2007 at 1:33 AM

The um… Cadillac commercial which seems to have disappeared from this post like a ghost in the night.

Oh why must these visions of my lost Lenore…er Joan Jett haunt me?

Tell me, will I ever see my lost Joan Jett?

Quoth the Raven, Nevermore!

EFG on January 6, 2007 at 1:34 AM

I laughed the first five times I saw the comercial on tv. The timing thing with Bush was funny. The 911 reference is sadly revealing of the Left’s apathy in the WOT. Stopped watching Stewart years ago. Reminds me why.

Buck Turgidson on January 6, 2007 at 1:38 AM

Normally I don’t like when 9/11 is used in a joke, but it wasn’t the punch line. Whoever thought of combining the two is a comical genius.

Yeah, Jon Stewart is a liberal, but he’s funny. His show is usually a hit or miss but he has great writers nonetheless.

Anyways … what Cadillac post? Am I missing something?

Ian on January 6, 2007 at 1:41 AM

The google ad on this post is a cadillac commercial w/joan jett.

As for the post itself, I found it amusing… not so sure that a 9/11 speech was the best choice of material, but it’s a funny idea.

dead-duck on January 6, 2007 at 1:55 AM

Jon Stewart’s schtick was way tired a long time ago.

At times he can be funny, but that definitely isn’t one of those times.

His brand of comedy, if you can call it that, depends upon ridicule and sarcasm. Both are fine as comedic tools, as long as it isn’t done again and again and again and again and again….

This clown quit being funny a long time ago. He has worn out his welcome in my living room. Smarmy bastard.

Ah, didn’t see that at first.

Ian on January 6, 2007 at 1:59 AM

I’m gonna throw this out there since we all lived “A Very Special Christmas Box.”

It’s “A Box in Box” (nws warning= a couple of chest closeups, no nudity)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdaSv4a-ia4&eurl=

There’s even a dubya dig in here that made me laugh.

Vincenzo on January 6, 2007 at 2:09 AM

Sorry, no laugh. Jon Stewart is doing everything he can to demoralize and undermine our will to win the war (and he apparently has lots of influence). I view him with digust for that, not a smile.

Here’s a “comedian” who constantly mocks the war and calls its leaders liars. Would we cut the same slack for any entertainer who ridiculed WW2? We’ve gotten so use to Stewart’s kind of seditious Leftism in the culture that we think it’s normal and tolerable. It’s not.

Halley on January 6, 2007 at 2:10 AM

Yeah but how about A Box in A Box?

Vincenzo on January 6, 2007 at 2:16 AM

Ian,

Wonder if my “smarmy bastard” riposte is what is holding up my last comment.

Not complaining, just wondering; and trying to learn about this wwww. (wonderful world wide web thingamajig)

Also, while I’m speculating, is your name indicative of your origin? Always loved Ian Fleming and the resulting movies.

Call me a curious hillbilly. Inquiring minds want to know.

I love what you guys are doing, and I am praying for Michelle at every opportunity. It is a brave thing that she is doing.

hillbillyjim on January 6, 2007 at 2:17 AM

ok maybe this will make you laugh:

Vincenzo — It’s been done before..sadly. I should maybe give a Content Warning.

Guardian on January 6, 2007 at 2:55 AM

Not Funny At All. Hope Michelle gets back soon to rein in the children.

R D on January 6, 2007 at 2:56 AM

All time favorite Jon Stewart clip:

alflauren on January 6, 2007 at 2:59 AM

By the way, I think Brit Hume actually used this as an end-of-show clip once.

alflauren on January 6, 2007 at 3:00 AM

And another thing!(Dennis Miller style)If you have nothing to add at this time of night, it’s okay, go to sleep. That last one just sucked.

R D on January 6, 2007 at 3:02 AM

Every time Little Richard opens his mouth, something ridiculously funny falls out.

Bill Cosby and him need a show; the contrast would be hilarious.

Black Adam on January 6, 2007 at 3:06 AM

Yes I know it was done before, and it got a lot of play here. I came across the other video, which was a play off the first, and thought you’d get a kick out of it.

Sure it’s not something with two balls attached?

x95b10 on January 6, 2007 at 3:16 AM

That wouldn’t perchance be “gumballs” , eh?

hillbillyjim on January 6, 2007 at 3:27 AM

BWAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAH!!!!

One Angry Christian on January 6, 2007 at 4:08 AM

I wonder how comedic genius Jon Stewart would spin this:

Funny yet very relevant in our time.

hillbillyjim on January 6, 2007 at 4:15 AM

Nothing should be SO sacred, that it’s above tasteful humor.

I think that was tasteful.

This is what seperates us from the islamo-boomers.

You don’t have to think it was funny, but I really feel that Jonny boy can’t be faulted for any wrongdoing… this time.

Ringmaster on January 6, 2007 at 7:34 AM

No one is making fun of 9/11 here. At the very most, it’s a vague commentary about how Bush raises the specter of 9/11 in order to keep Americans motivated by fear (”Look out!”), but that is a far cry from making fun of the events of 9/11. Even that’s a stretch. Mostly it’s just a silly clip of a very serious man woven into a clip of a very zany man. The humor is in the contrast, and in the implied fictitious conversation.

Mark Jaquith on January 6, 2007 at 8:52 AM

For those lusting after Joan Jett…I hate to break this to you, but she’s quite possibly a lesbian:

Even though she allegedly — or at least subtly — came out in a magazine article in the 1990s and is often referred to as “openly lesbian” in the press, Jett has as recently as this spring stated that she has never publicly issued a statement about her sexuality. She openly flirts with her lesbian fans at concerts, sports a “Dykes Rule” sticker on her guitar and even played an intimate gig at this year’s Dinah Shore Weekend, but she still refuses to field questions on the topic.

No, I have no idea what “Dinah Shore Weekend” is, and I’m afraid to Google it.

Simplifying Bush. Talk about gilding the rose….

No, he’s not. he, at one point, was funny but his jokes and his writers are now predictable. And Stewart’s talent is not much compared to Colbert’s sarcasm and brilliance.

Opinionnation on January 6, 2007 at 10:17 AM

See, you can have humor and the president without getting mean and disrespectful. Other comodians should follow this path……….

ritethinker on January 6, 2007 at 10:20 AM

Colbert brilliant? When did I miss that striking moment? Stewart and Colbert are both the creations of their writers. Not funny, certainly not newsworthy. I have no opinion of the clip. I didn’t laugh but I wasn’t offended.

Glynn on January 6, 2007 at 10:26 AM

Not to be too sensitive but 9/11 was nothing to laugh at.

Zorro on January 6, 2007 at 11:02 AM

Is that your term for people who employ ‘toilet humor’? I think I like it.

The Monster on January 6, 2007 at 11:13 AM

Glad to see we’ve gotten over those cumbersome hangups like deference and respect when it comes to 9/11.

Scot on January 6, 2007 at 12:03 PM

It’s definitely funny… that is to the 10 year olds that watch his show. Stewart is the same old borsch belt humor from the 40’s

Bob on January 6, 2007 at 12:55 PM

Sorry, not feelin’ it.

ronsfi on January 6, 2007 at 12:55 PM

Here’s the problem. Of course It’s funny. People tend not to make value jugements while laughing. That’s how they get you. Do something clever enough and next thing you know, you are laughing while GWB refrences 911. It’s insideous. Springsteen & Taylor are were two of my biggest musical influences, and complete moonbats. I’ve grown averse of the entire “entertainment industrial complex.” baby crying- gotta go.

Buck Turgidson on January 6, 2007 at 2:54 PM

I’m with BT (George C. Scott in Dr. Strangelove, right?).
I’ve abandoned the entertainment-industrial complex also, including, but not limited to, Stevie Colbert and the band of no-talent bustards at Comedy Central (except for Southpark).

Jen the Neocon on January 6, 2007 at 4:18 PM

Right Jen. Thanks. Even my favorite movie turned out to be (brilliantly made,) liberal propaganda. The moral of Strangelove is “anti-communism is insane paranoia.” The same thing asserted today by Jaherr22 and his friends about Islam. I’ve always loved George C, but thought Gen. Patton would be an inappropriate alias for a civilian. btw enjoyed your comments since my lurking days.

Buck Turgidson on January 6, 2007 at 4:56 PM

That wasn’t that funny, it was just a ripoff of a popular commercial.

It would have been more entertaining if the Daily Show actually got Little Richard to appear and make an original clip.

What’s next, the Gieco lizard doing stand up routines with Cheney in the backdrop?

How about Hillary driving around DC looking for Bill and screaming “Where’s the beef?”
