Stallone: Border fence “crazy, ridiculous”

In “Rocky Balboa,” an MGM Pictures release, the aging scrapper is running a restaurant when a computer-simulated bout inspires him to put the gloves back on. In one scene, his character defends his restaurant’s immigrant cooks and waiters against slanderous comments.
“I support Mexicans who work in my country,” he said, adding that the United States depends on the hard work of Latinos to keep running.
In comments to Mexican media later, Stallone criticized plans to build 700 miles of fence along the border as an immigration-control measure.
Such a fence was “crazy” and “ridiculous,” he said, arguing that nations should be able to interact without being divided by walls.
Emphasis on “should.”
What is it with action stars and illegals? Stallone wants to open the border and Arnold’s handing out universal coverage like it was candy.
You leave me no choice, Sly.
Update: In case anyone’s looking for a belated Christmas present for the big A, ahem.

And to think I was going to actually see Rocky VI. Oh well, guess I’ll just read a good book.
Hollywood clowns spewing their political nonsense. It never seems to end. Neither does the press coverage of their utopian ideas.

Ditto … I actually had planned on seeing it too. I heard it’s well done. Oh well, another actor who’s not smart enough to keep his mouth shut. Hmmmm … I wonder how Gwenny Paltrow’s doing?

Never about the great culture, never about the academics they bring, never about the innovations they bring, never about the business investment they bring, only about the “work” they provide. He pays his slaves to work, not think.

I guess I have to have a little more sympathy for CNN and the “Fued” incident.

Yeah, there’s a typo in the video. I didn’t produce it; don’t look at me.
Allahpundit on January 5, 2007 at 12:10 PM
This is a harsh crowd. It strikes me that there is only one actual quote in the article, i.e., “I support Mexicans who work in my country,”. That doesn’t seem to me to be such a horrible thing to say that it would affect whether or not I liked his work.
The rest of the statements seem to be paraphrases, or interpretations, of what Stallone may or may not have said by an AP writer by the last name of Pacheco.
Drudge throws up links titled so as to outrage the right, and man do we jump when he says to.
CourtZero on January 5, 2007 at 12:18 PM

I didn’t intend to accuse you of the typo. Allow me to make ammends.
I guess I could send this to you at HotAirs P.O Box. The only question is what size it should be.
For a professional male blogger I suppose it could only be one of two sixe possibilities.

The Philly of Rocky I, is not the Philly of Rocky Balboa, the Rocky Balboa Philly is soft on immagration and strong on the gay agenda and illegal amnesty..
Sly, you blew it man! You’re losing fans…

Stallone, blow it out of your smushed nose!
Yesterday Savage was talking about the cover-up of the crime wave by illegals, how in 2004 95% of outstanding LA county murder warrants named illegals, and how about 93 sex offenders cross the border daily.
Last night I watched a show on the History channel about drugs and the border, and how frustrated the BP is that funding for taking money from drug dealers before they get it back over the border has decreased substantially in the past 6 years.
I’m surprised at the lack of news coverage of the National Guardmen being overrun by foreign invaders. I STILL have not seen mention of it on Fox news. Instead they run a story about how a 30 minute walk through the zoo for penguins helps decrease stress. Time to email the “news” folks.
And Nero fiddles…
NTWR on January 5, 2007 at 5:26 PM
I’m so friggin depressed. I don’t quite know what to do. First I read this article where MARY KATHERINE HAM is bragging that SHE’S NEVER HEARD ANYONE IN HER CHURCH SPEAKING IN TONGUES, in response to a WaPo article which tried to castigate her dead church as a “Holy Roller” church. She was actually PROUD that the sign of the Lord( MARK 16: 15-18) is nowhere in evidence in her “Church” what a joke. Keep following these fake teachers if you want, but don’t say you weren’t told. I told you. I warned you, if her deception doesn’t speak volumes to you, hey, it’s on your heads.
Then, as if hearing an allegedly Christian woman BRAG about the lack of the Lord’s Spirit in her congregation wasn’t enough, I hadda hear Stallone pimpin’ for the Illegals. WHY DID I TURN ON THE RADIO? I had taken the time off and even switched some things around so I could go see Rocky after my workout. Then after hearing this IDIOT, I just sat there, feeling all stupid, unable to go. Screw him. Asshole.

Now all we need is CGI fest with ‘Rambo’ fighting ‘Rocky’ in a “Coriscan Twins” rip-off with the p.c. plotline being a duel between them over infiltrating illegals who are being attacked by a faux Minuteman Rambo guarding the border but defended by Rocky in the U.S. desert (with a soon-to-be-famous masochistic cactus punching scene that leaves Rocky’s mitts looking like twin hedgehogs).
Let the schizophrenia begin!

That’s a bit harsh. There can be disagreement on this doctrinal point without calling one’s salvation into question.
Slublog on January 5, 2007 at 10:08 PM
Soothsayer, since you have quoted scripture, allow me to do the same regarding your questioning of Mary Katharine’s faith:
Romans 14:13-18:
Salvation is not dependent upon externalities, but on faith in Christ. Speaking in tongues is mentioned in the Bible as a spiritual gift, not a litmus test.
Slublog on January 5, 2007 at 11:51 PM
Galatians 1; 6-9
6. I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7. Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
That’s pretty serious wouldn’t you say? There’s plenty more, it’s a specialty of mine but this posts gonna be long enough. So if you want more, I do it later okay?
See the Episcopalian church teaches a plethora of things that are diametrically OPPOSED to the sound doctrine of the Bible, as it RELATES TO SALVATION. In fact, if her church were correct, then large portions of the Bible wouldn’t have been written. One that immediately comes to mind is Christs command to be “Born Again”, I’m sure you know that the Episcopalian Church looks DOWN on those who claim to be, “born again”, as if they are somehow “extreme”. They sneer in their Waspy tones, “Oh, those Evangelicals again!”. Now, that , in and of itself, is troubling but it’s also problematic. Because JESUS who is the Author and Finisher of their faith said that speaking in tongues was part and parcel of the deal! He also said that it was one of the signs that would FOLLOW your belief.
Mark 16:14-20. So what does that mean if you have not received that sign…doesn’t take a genius.
He also specifically told his Apostles and disciples not to leave Jerusalem to go on their missionary journies, UNTIL they had received the Holy Ghost, Acts 1:1-8. Since they were about to embark on the greatest missionary Journey the world has ever seen, wasn’t leaving to actually DO IT, important? Of course it was, well, how would these people who have healed the sick, blind and the lame, and who have received from Jesus the power to RAISE THE DEAD ( matt 10:8) , know WHEN TO LEAVE?
Think about it, he tells them they’re gonna get the Holy Spirit, well they ALREADY BELIEVE in Him since he’s standing right there talking to them ( Which fake churches say means they ALREADY HAVE the Holy Spirit, by just “believing”) , so how would they know that they had received the promised SPIRIT if there were no evidence?
Now the teaching of the Episcopal, Catholic, Baptist, basically any non-Pentecostal church and some of them are of questionable doctrine having compromised with the world, is that THERE IS NO OUTWARD EVIDENCE THAT ONE HAS RECEIVED THE HOLY SPIRIT! Contrary to what JESUS SAID! Now, if this was some minor point of doctrine, say , whether you should pray with your head covered or something, I would be with you, but it isn’t. It is the most important doctrine, the doctrine of the Holy Spirit. Some guy on this site went to a church that told him he was saved WITHOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT. That is was just a gift and completely unnecessary for “salvation”. Well I asked him if “BELONGING TO JESUS” was necessary for “salvation”. He of course said yes, i then said well, how is it possible to BELONG to Jesus WITHOUT HAVING HIS SPIRIT? He said it’s just a gift. Here’s what Paul said….
Now, that’s pretty darn clear and since it IS clear, it would BEHOOVE one to examine it more closely! First the very utterance of this scripture along with many others, completely shows false doctrine for what it is…false! Fake churches teach that there is no evidence that one has the Holy Spirit, PAUL said that if you don’t have it you don’t belong to Jesus. How could he say that to a church in Rome FULL of newly “born again” Christians unless there was a way for them to know whether or not they HAD IT? Similarly, I am now reminded of when he went to establish the church at EPHESUS. He encounters some disciples and the FIRST thing he does is ask them whether or not they have Received the Holy Ghost, SINCE they BELIEVED. Now not only does this highlight the false doctrine of “there is no evidence” of the Spirit, it also completely demolishes the false doctrine that says that you receive the Holy Ghost WHEN or at the TIME OF your belief! Just as Jesus in Mark said, that the sign would FOLLOW your belief and therefore be separate and apart from it as events in your life go, Paul backs that up by asking them …..
While I have VOLUMES more on this subject I will leave you with this, since it is the ONE THING that JESUS SAID that a fake church will NEVER tell you about the whole “speaking in tongues” debate. Jesus associated this unintelligible and unknown and mysterious thing with the NEW BIRTH. It’s the verse they always stop right before. Sure they’ll tell you that Jesus said “you must be born again”, maybe, that’s because they’re already tricking you to believe that you qualified for that already, merely by “believing”. HOWEVER, if you were to actually examine their “doctrine” under the light of what was done in Scripture, their entire “faith” falls flat on it’s face. I will give you this example, sorry to be less than my usually expansive self but I have to run. LOL
By improperly taking several scriptures woefully out of Context, namely Romans 10:9 and John 3:16, fakes teach that “all you have to do is call on the name of the Lord and you’ll be saved”, in the case of Rom 10:9. When they drag out John 3:16, completely IGNORING everything that JESUS JUST SAID BEFORE THAT, they tell you that all you have to do is, “believe”, right? But JESUS said YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN and that there is an INEXPLICABLE SOUND that accompanies EACH and EVERY person that is ‘Born Again”…..
Soothsayer on January 6, 2007 at 12:27 AM
Where did Jesus instruct us that it is through the speaking of tongues that one will know the Spirit has come, exactly? Such a belief assumes that salvation is through the Spirit. Christ made it clear that it was not in John 14:6-7.
See also Ephesians 2:8-9
8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast.
Honestly, Soothsayer, it’s not up to you to decide whether MKH is a “real Christian” or not, since such an action is dependent on God’s grace, not your judgment.
In the future, it would probably be best if you would refrain from this sort of rhetoric:
Galatians 5.
Slublog on January 6, 2007 at 1:09 AM
Ummmm, yeah, aaaanyway, back to the topic at hand …
This guy is no different than a teacher who gives passing grades to minority students that don’t know how to read because he thinks they can’t be held to the same standards as white students and he’s doin’ them a favor.
“Soft bigotry” is still bigotry.
Tony737 on January 6, 2007 at 3:26 AM
I’m having difficulty believing that you could write such a thing. The sciptures in John 14:6,7 is where Jesus tells Phillip that HE IS THE FATHER, which makes your trinitarian point of view rather moot, I have no idea how you construe this to mean, that salvation is NOT THROUGH THE SPIRIT. What do you think the SPIRIT IS? It is JESUS’S SPIRIT not some third wheel in a triad! It comes from going to a fake church that thinks Jesus and HIS SPIRIT are separate, and if it wasn’t so tragic that would be funny. Such blindness comes from those who read too much of the Old Testament and don’t have the Holy Ghost in Truth.
And futhermore…
Honestly I don’t even know how you could write that after reading Romans 8:9 that clearly says that if you don’t have Christs Spirit you don’t BELONG TO JESUS~! SO how can you say that salvation is NOT THROUGH THE SPIRIT. Mind boggling. Listen, don’t let my gruff manner keep you from testing what I say through the word, God deals with us in different ways, I was a tough guy prior to salvation and I’m still a little “rough around the edges” to say the least. But your lack of understanding should be indicative to you that there is a BIG problem with whomevers’ been teaching you.
I’m a writer not a namby pamby, the words were illustrative.
You “chastise” me about calling someone an idiot when Jesus told them they were going to hell and were the spawn of Satan( John 8:44)
There are churches that have replaced the truth of the Spirit with the FORMS OF GODLINESS, like no cursing, blah blah blah, meanwhile they’re dead inside.
See you have a FORM of godliness, you’re a nice person, you treat people nicely AND you believe in Jesus, but you also DENY THE POWER (which is the Holy Ghost) just as the scripture SAID YOU WOULD.
Unbelievable.
One of the biggest mistakes people make, especially people who think that the Spirit is not necessary for “SALVATION”, is you take a GENERAL SCRIPTURE and try to APPLY IT TO A SPECIFIC PURPOSE. Errors like that have people taking John 3:16, a GENERAL statemtent about God’s love for man, describing A GENERAL PROCESS (belief), and assuming that this covers a specific situation like “salvation”. COMPLETELY IGNORING the whole “YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN THING”. Now why would you listen to a general statemtent for a specific purpose when it is PRECEEDED in great detail BY SPECIFIC STATEMENTS CONCERNING THE METHOD OF YOUR SALVATION? Remember John 3:8? ” SO IT IS WITH EVERY ONE BORN OF THE SPIRIT”??????? What part of everyone do you think excludes you?
PLEASE realize that what I’m saying is shocking but my purpose is NOT to offend you, it’s to show you…See, the church split after the death of the last Apostle, having foreseen this, the Apostles left careful instructions as to how the doctrine was to be taught. THey included in the scriptures PROPHECIES of those that would pervert the gospel and KEYS as to how you would know them! The root of the apostacy began in what came to be known as the Catholic Church, did you know that the word “Catholic” actually means “liberal or general”? Well, it explains much. Their coming was foretold in PAULS instructions to TIMOTHY
So after the death of John, the last Apostle to die, the people that Jude warned you about in Jude 4,5 took over. They changed the baptism and in an effort to evade the persecution of the Romans which was all about THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST, these cowards dropped His name from your baptism. They formed the Catholic Church and later people protested that church and became known as PROTESTANTS, other offshoots include the Lutherans, Episcopalians, Baptists, Mormons and Methodists, unfortunately ALL of these offshoots have RETAINED the FALSE DOCTRINE of the catholic church as it relates to BAPTISM and reception of the Holy Spirit. They’re all claiming Christ yet IGNORING the teachers he sent to teach you, His Apostles!. See, Jesus wasn’t fond of “the masses” in fact most of the time the masses came around he removed himself from their presence. But he DID intend to teach 13 people, one of them being Judas, his replacement being Paul. And he DID intend for PETER to have the keys to the kingdom of heaven, which he did, and he DID intend for Peter to preach the first sermon AFTER THE INITIAL RECEPTION OF THE HOLY GHOST and he did and when the people heard what Peter had to say and believed, he didn’t tell them that “the Spirit wasn’t necessary for SALVATION”, sorry but I can’t get over that one! He said…
Funny how he didn’t tell them “just believe” or “your saved by faith through grace” all of which are true but none of which, discuss the PROCESS by which this occurs!
As Priscilla said, I show you a more excellent way… Acts 2:38 Acts 2:4.
Read the book of Acts and see how far away it is from anything that you have been taught.
Soothsayer on January 6, 2007 at 4:04 AM
First off, I went to bed.
Second, allow me to say that yes, we are saved through God’s grace, Christ’s sacrifice and the work of the Spirit. If I communicated otherwise, then I apologize.
My question did not deal with the specific theological process of salvation, which I will define as what God does. It dealt with this statement you made regarding the salvation of another:
I do not believe the lack of tongues in a church is indicative of a lack of the Spirit. Since the Spirit is necessary to salvation, the Spirit is present in the lives of believers whether they have the gift of tongues or not.
That was my point, and again, I apologize if my words led you to beleive otherwise. Tongues are not the only manifestation of the Spirit in the lives of believers, and they are not necessary for salvation.
Achieving salvation, or as it’s come to be known “accepting Christ,” is actually quite simple.
For the sake of preserving unity, I will not respond specifically to your criticisms of me as an individual believer except to say that you have admonished me in error, and if you wish to discuss it further, email me. The email is slublog -@- gmail.com
Slublog on January 6, 2007 at 9:26 AM
PLEASE READ THE ABOVE POST AGAIN. All of your innaccuracies have been addressed including the difference between the “gift of tongues” and the Tongues spoken in the initial manifestation of the Holy Ghost.
The Apostles and Disciples ALL had the exact same experience. In the 11th and 15th chapters of the Book Of Acts Peter quells the anger of the apostles, who didn’t want to believe that the Lord had extended salvation to the gentiles by ASSURING them that the Lord GAVE THE GENTILES THE EXACT SAME SPIRIT WITH THE EXACT SAME EVIDENCE! This and only this quieted their uproar.
Now, pay attention, all of the scripture twisting you’ve been doing, takiing general scriptures and trying to apply them to specific purposes, is shown for the nonsense it is RIGHT HERE. The Apostles responded that GOD GRANTED REPENTANCE TO THE GENTILES, right? Now that’s a general statement isn’t it? But what process was it specifically REFERRING TO? I mean it’s easy to say, God granted repentance to someone, but what specifically did that mean? Hint: It’s the same as saying that “WHOSOEVER ‘Believeth” on him shall have everlasting life. The problem is that you don’t even know what the word “believe” really means! Remember JESUS SAID that SIGNS FOLLOW them that BELIEVE!!!! Sooo when it says, “whoseoever believeth” it means WHOSOEVER HAS RECEIVED THE SIGN THAT THEIR REPENTANCE HAS BEEN ACCEPTED!!!!!!
Here is the definition of believe according to Jesus Christ.
RIDDLE ME THIS BATMAN, If you believe that your saved merely by the fact that grace EXISTS ( how ridiculous is that?) WHERE IS YOUR SIGN THAT YOUR REPENTANCE AND BELIEF HAVE REACHED AN ACCEPTABLE LEVEL TO THE LORD???? Where’s the sign, baby? You ain’t saved by merely believing, bub, is Satan saved by his belief in Jesus? Ooh it’s getting deep now? What say you, is Satan saved by his belief since that’s all that’s required in your signless world, becauses after all, Satan has believed in Jesus longer than you did!
See you have faith but it’s DEAD faith having no WORKS to accompany it and the work of which we speak is the act of repenting and being baptized IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST, like PETER TOLD YOU TO. ACTS 2:38 because just HAVING FAITH, ain’t enough! I told you that you didn’t understand the process by which we are saved by grace THROUGH faith! It’s the THROUGH part you aren’t gettiing, there is a PROCESS that is a WORK that you have neglected! That’s why Jesus SAID “HE THAT BELIEVES AND IS BAPTIZED (in the HOLY GHOST the RIGHT WAY, LIKE THE APOSTLES), SHALL BE SAVED~!!
You have been taught by fake teachers like BILLY GRAHAM who have PERVERTED THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST into a bunch of liberal, “IT’S QUITE SIMPLE” junk! Was it simple for the 500 apostles and disciples who had to pray for TWO WEEKS in order to receive the Spirit? Was it simple for the people of Samaria in ACTS 8 who were taught by THE APOSTLE PHILLIP, baptized in JESUS’ NAME and who STILL DIDN’T HAVE THE HOLY GHOST and who wouldn’t GET IT until PETER AND JOHN took a perilous journey to pray for them to receive it, these people who ALREADY BELIEVED yet HAD NOT RECEIVED THE SPRIT?.
“Accepting” Christ is one of the biggest lies told on the Bible. I will give you TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS, for every scripture you find that says YOU can ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST! How arrogant of you, I gues you think he’s your “personal” saviour or some such junk. Well it is junk. And you should be ashamed, WHAT PART OF REPENT means ‘ACCEPT”? NONE of it. You were told this at the end of the FIRST MESSAGE PREACHED AFTER THE RECEPTION OF THE HOLY GHOST BY THE APOSTLES. Look hard to find the word “accept”…..
As I asked you before, which you have yet to respond to BTW, WHAT PART OF EVERYONE DO YOU THINK EXCLUDES YOU FROM HAVING TO DO IT THIS WAY? I’m going to pray for you tonight pal, because the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard was Salvation is actually “guite simple”. As a Christian it is incumbent upon you to know that your degree of perscecution is directly proportional to the degree of truth you posess. After all, it wasn’t so “simple” for the Apostles all of whom with the exception of John, were slain for their preaching of the Holy Ghost filled message. It was only after the church was WATERED DOWN WITH JUNK that things got “simple”. My God. You’re like the people Paul was berating
Remember how important it was to Peter and the rest of the Apostles in acts 11 and 15 that the Gentiles had RECEIVED THE SAME SPIRIT THE SAME WAY? Well, that’s because there are MANY spirits my friend but only one HOLY SPIRIT. Here you see Paul ridiculing their steadfastness in the Apostle’s doctrine, by telling them that if they actually receive another gospel or ANOTHER SPIRIT that was different than what they initially received, THAT THEY WERE DUMB ENOUGH TO PUT UP WITH IT!!!! And they all spoke in tongues initially and were baptized in the name of JESUS BTW, another fact I raised about which you are mute. Suffice to say my work here is done, you don’t accept new facts when they are presented to you so there’s really very little that I can do. I will leave you with this, you have “accepted” a different Gospel, one that does not Require Repentance or an answer from Jesus Christ. It is a lie. Period. I SHOWED you in PAINSTAKING detail how Paul approached those he met that THOUGHT they were SAVED JUST BY BELIEVING like you. He re-baptized them properly in Jesus’ name and he tarried with them until they spoke in tongues, I don’t know why you didn’t address that since it’s so appropriate to your situation.
This is how Paul warned Jesus name baptized, tongue talking Christians, remember up till this time ALL of them WERE BAPTISED in JESUS NAME and ALL OF THEM received the Holy Ghost with the initial manifestation of Speaking in tongues but already the devil was at work. He was already sending people to the churches that PAUL and APOLLOS had just left telling the people that “it’s quite simple, really, you don’t have to do all of that stuff Paul said…”
I’ve shown you how the Apostles and disciples received the Holy Ghost and that it was IMPORTANT TO THEM that EVERYONE HAVE THE SAME EXPERIENCE, initially. I have showed you how that experience was prophesied by the Lord and how it came to pass. I ‘ve showed you how Nicodemus DID EXACTLY WHAT YOU THINK IT TAKES TO BE SAVED, he “believed”, he “confessed his belief with his mouth” and he “accepted” Jesus as his “personal saviour” IN PERSON! And I’ve shown you how JESUS TOLD HIM that there was more to it than that and that it wasn’t quite that “simple”. I’ve shown you how the LORD SAID that if you BELIEVED you would be SPEAKING IN TONGUES and how he DID IN FACT, work with the Apostles confirming the Word with SIGNS. And I’ve shown you how Billy Graham , Falwell and the like, are leading dead churches that are largely absent of this Sign. I’ve shown you how little you know or understand by your ridiculous assertions that you don’t need the Holy Ghost for salvation. You still maintain that there is a difference between receiving the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues as the initial manifestation of the Spirit, yet you fail to provide documentation of how this is possible since Peter, Paul, Jesus and the rest ALL said that EVERYONE IS SAVED THE SAME WAY.
( Now why do you think he said that God “PUT NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN US AND THEM”? Well there is “no difference” between how I got it and how THEY got it, but YOU can’t say that now can you?) ( Also notice the GENERAL PHRASE ” Purifying their hearts by faith” is used to describe the Gentiles reception of the Holy Spirit! Notice how he doesn’t get into specifics but encapsulates their salvation with a GENERAL PHRASE!
But what really happened to these Gentiles when their “hearts were purified by faith?” In the 10th chapter of Acts Peter is given a dream by the Holy Ghost, it tells him to look up a guy named Cornelius. God sends Cornelius a dream telling him heed Peter when he comes. Peter comes,he preaches Jesus and
