Whoops: CNN misspells “feud”
posted at 3:37 pm on January 4, 2007 by Ian

Rich Noyes writes:
More likely than not, it was just another embarrassing example of the need for all of the 24-hour cable news networks to slow down just enough to double-check their work
Indeed. Ironically, Anderson was whining that this is just a ploy for the two to boost their ratings. And Anderson talking about the “fued” was not about boosting CNN’s ratings?

Blowback

CNN has issued an apology to the Hatfields and McCoys.

What would Fuad Reveiz think?
Seriously, typos happen. Lord knows I have them enough. You can watch the crawl on any newscast and spot them. During the Rose Bowl the other day, ABC was plugging a show that was to air on Tusday.
Watch Fox 5 News in NY on any night and just count up the typos.
They call them interns for a reason.
There was a thread here the other night talking about a columist.

And whatever you do, don’t ever misspell misspell.

Either that or they’ve got elementary school kids interning there.

When “CNN” is misspelled on the logo, then we have a serious problem.
Valiant on January 4, 2007 at 4:04 PM
it’s part of that “giving the gavel to the kids” thing the left is pushing.
One Angry Christian on January 4, 2007 at 4:09 PM
Exactly! :)

How about misread? I was walking through CNN Center in Atlanta about 15 years ago. There was going to be a Grateful Dead concert nearby and a couple of Dead Heads were walking by. One looked up at the CNN logo (go take a quick look at it yourself) and said aloud “What’s CW?”
True story — I have a witness.

You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in CNN, as Coop’s graphics bitch.

I have to question the timing. Maybe just an exclamation mark to CNN’s apology over the Osama / Obama thing, to prevent a smurf riot.

And not to forget that it’s Olbermann and not Olberman, now that his stature is more gigantic.

Anderson Cooper is a pantywaist. With all that sugar in his tank how can he present the misspelled news while basking in his “spent” diabetic coma?

Fued for thought: If they had outsorced the job to India, this would not have happened.

seems to be ubikwitious.
Just another reminder, Firefox 2, Mozilla’s great browser that is free and stable, now has spell check like features for writing. Even as you write in these blogs or email or forms, misspelled words are underlined in red. I don’t know if IE has anything out yet like this.
Worth a try for those who might need it. Plus you can add words to your private lexicon.
Ya know, most designer software does not have spell check…why? I’ll never know.

Damn, I wanted that line.

At least Dan Quayle can spell Potatoe*….I wonder if the media is going to play up how stupid CNN is.
*Yes, Potatoe is a correct spelling, just as colour is a correct spelling of color.
