Video: Pelosi elected Speaker of the House

posted at 3:16 pm on January 4, 2007 by Allahpundit
Share on Facebook | regular view

She promised that the gavel would be “in the hands of America’s children.” And she delivered.

gavel.jpg

I didn’t bother with her or Boehner’s speech, which sounded the predictable obligatory notes. I did include a sighting of the celebrity praetorian guard in the gallery, though. No “unseemly, imperial” Democratic scrapbook moment would be complete without them.

Ladies and gents, zero hour is at hand.

Update: “The lying criminal whore, Granny Rictus McCadaverImplants, aint my Speaker of the House.”

I can’t watch that one.

R D on January 4, 2007 at 3:19 PM

Okay, maybe she overdid it a wee bit with the kids.

Slublog on January 4, 2007 at 3:27 PM

I can’t watch that crap. It would be like looking into the eyes of Medusa herself. I heard that shit about “the children” on Rush. How gay.

BirdEye on January 4, 2007 at 3:29 PM

Brought a tear to my eye…

dread pirate roberts on January 4, 2007 at 3:29 PM

One Angry Christian on January 4, 2007 at 3:29 PM

The circus has a new ringleader.

VikingGoneWild on January 4, 2007 at 3:34 PM

is it just me, or does the parlimentarian sound like she’s about to cry tears of joy?

pullingmyhairout on January 4, 2007 at 3:36 PM

Richard Gere? Tony Bennett? good god.

pullingmyhairout on January 4, 2007 at 3:37 PM

“The HOUSE will COME to ORDER!!!”

puhhhhhhhhlease. Soon as you guys quit putting people like Murtha and Jefferson in office it might.

One Angry Christian on January 4, 2007 at 3:40 PM

She promised that the gavel would be “in the hands of America’s children.”

I visualize antics along the Three Stooges lines. Nyuk nyuk nyuk.

Attila (Pillage Idiot) on January 4, 2007 at 3:41 PM

I just threw up in my mouth a little…

righteouschops on January 4, 2007 at 3:47 PM

Who is she appointing to the new,and necessary “Botox Appropriations Committee”?

bbz123 on January 4, 2007 at 3:49 PM

I guess Nancy will be hiring her as a consultant or something.

Guardian on January 4, 2007 at 3:54 PM

Well, I for one believe the children are the future. We should teach them well and let them lead the way. We should show them all the beauty they possess inside, and give them a sense of pride. . .

Sorry in advance if that song gets stuck in anyone’s head.

Gottafang on January 4, 2007 at 3:56 PM

Gottafang,

I think you have to pay Whitney copyright fees just for typing that. Her lawyers are becoming more agressive now since she lost every nickel she owned. Careful dude.

fogw on January 4, 2007 at 4:00 PM

Yeh, sure, she cares about children.

But if you’re still in the womb …. not so much.

fogw on January 4, 2007 at 4:05 PM

Well, a democractic majority, so indeed “in the hands of American’s children”.

kevcad on January 4, 2007 at 4:07 PM

things can be alot worse if we get a democrat president

I can see it now……. ethics problems? Bring out the children….. can’t pass legislation? Bring out the children…….. caught taking bribes? Bring out the children……. every news conference from now until the second coming? Bring out the children!

PinkyBigglesworth on January 4, 2007 at 4:21 PM

I felt a disturbance in the force… A million voices, suddenly crying out…

Mazztek on January 4, 2007 at 4:22 PM

I could not watch that skank. I am sorry if that is rude. It bothers me when those on the left call names like that, especially to the President, but he, for the most part, comports himself with honor. She does not.

CrimsonFisted on January 4, 2007 at 4:23 PM

I’ve said it before and gotten criticized here for it. I am a strong conservative, evangelical, values voter. But, Nancy Pelosi…not bad looking for her age.

Matticus Finch on January 4, 2007 at 4:23 PM

Pray for our troops, while we still can.

BohicaTwentyTwo on January 4, 2007 at 4:24 PM

Bring out the children loses it’s appeal when propped up by pro-abortion Bullosi.

fogw on January 4, 2007 at 4:25 PM

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok now I feel better

Defector01 on January 4, 2007 at 4:32 PM

Just like a muslim… hiding behind the children!

Bob on January 4, 2007 at 4:33 PM

I look at this and start thinking America needs a Cromwell for a few years to clean the crap out. There’s no legal way to save the country from itself.

dhimwit on January 4, 2007 at 4:51 PM

Starblazer on January 4, 2007 at 4:15 PM

Not really. Bush still holds the veto pen, if he can manage to find it, since it’s been stuffed way back in his desk drawer for the last 6 years.

pullingmyhairout on January 4, 2007 at 4:52 PM

So why not? Abu-Jimmy asked Amy for advice, right?

bdfaith on January 4, 2007 at 4:57 PM

Is it just me, or does Pelosi just seem uncredibly STUPID, as in embarrassingly low IQ? Perhaps this is why the Dems love her, but were she in the GOP with that vacuous look in her eyes we’d never hear the end of the “elevator doesn’t go to the top floor” comments. It’s like she’s Dumb and Dumber rolled into one. Isn’t this, like, obvious?

Halley on January 4, 2007 at 4:59 PM

there is no way I can look or listen to her without wanting to toss my cookies!!

ChrisIansNana on January 4, 2007 at 5:04 PM

Oh my darlin’Oh my darlin’Oh my dar-lin’ Nancy PIt is gon-na be two long yearsThat we can all-ready see.

bdfaith on January 4, 2007 at 5:04 PM

a trash can missing a lid? a few cards short of a full deck? Is it the botox that gives her the look of “duh” all the time?

ChrisIansNana on January 4, 2007 at 5:06 PM

Who is she appointing to the new,and necessary “Botox Appropriations Committee”?

bbz123 on January 4, 2007 at 3:49 PM

hmmmmmmm perhaps ME? :)
The Republicans are so SPINELESS they wont behave like the Dems did so “universal (socialist) healthcare” is inevitable. In that case, I volunteer to be the test subject for FREE cosmetic surgery …on YOUR taxdollar of course *lol*

Yes, let’s here it for the children.

Andy in Agoura Hills on January 4, 2007 at 5:29 PM

not bad looking for her age.

Matticus Finch on January 4, 2007 at 4:23 PM

Love your pen name, btw.

We don’t know what she really looks like, or would look like at this age, were it not for the ‘lost-track-of’ surgeries and botox applications. Look elsewhere – there are some beautiful women, inside/out…

On the ‘children’ – we asked for it her, we got it her!

fogw on January 4, 2007 at 4:05 PM

Ooooh, that stings. Yes, Andy, this “it’s all for the children” crap is straight out of the Communist Manifesto.

I just wonder how stong her cocktail of anti-depressants is to give that perpetual glazed-over look.

NTWR on January 4, 2007 at 5:47 PM

All our children representatives are belong to us!

BUT..if it isnt..should it be? OR in the immortal words of my little brother..are we there yet?

labwrs on January 4, 2007 at 5:56 PM

Andy – nice photo, this “it’s all for the children” BS is straight from the Marxist/Leninist/Maoist/Fascist handbook.

Next stop-the Gulags!

And just how strong does ones cocktail of tranquilizers/antidepressants need to be to achieve the perpetual glazed over, unblinking drone look?

Drug test the Senate and Congress!

CyberCipher on January 4, 2007 at 6:30 PM

labwrs, I’ll e-mail you from home, tonight.

Hillary Clinton will run as a mother too. Really, big focus to be ‘children’ and ‘motherhood’. They’ve had it with men, war and father-of-the-country.

As if the terrorists care…

Entelechy on January 4, 2007 at 7:32 PM

also the democrat will be responsible for any terrorist attack, if they get rid of the NSA & the “Patriot Act” which they promised to do

1) Let my body hair grow out
2) Gain lots of weight
3) Hibernate for the next two years

SPIFF1669 on January 4, 2007 at 9:03 PM

She looks like a giddy school girl, overjoyed at just being given the Barbie Mansion for Christmas. And did anyone else notice how she pulled the gavel away from a boy (presumably her grandson) toward the end of the video so she could pound it on the desk? Yes, when it’s not too disastrous, her reign should be fun to watch.

insomni on January 4, 2007 at 9:08 PM

Ace is really clever. Some of his ‘naming’ will materialize in exciting ways, not the ‘execution’.

PDS – Pelosi Derangement Syndrome…for my part, “I like to watch”.

Nihilism in very expensive suits. Nothing in grand style is still nothing. Only in America. And maybe not so ‘only’. I’ve claimed, and my betters have, that every populace deserves its leaders.

We asked for her, we got her. Others would have to pay for the spectacles – today was mild and celebratory.

Not to worry. She didn’t write those words; Michael Masser and Linda Creed did.

Carry on.

You all do realize that if Bush and Cheney both leave office abruptly, that Nancy takes over as President…

Pack it up and move on! This is what us Colorado conservatives say to ourselves everyday since the mid-term elections. This is a sad time to live in this state and this country. Nancy the commie, I am so scared of this plastic surgery lady who is probably the biggest moron to walk on 2 feet. I wish money didn’t give people power in this country. Lets hope Nancys ego does what it should, ruin her.

We’ve got an equivalent here in Ohio to Pelosi when it comes to PC, ego, being touchy feely, and more.

Emmett J. on January 4, 2007 at 10:54 PM

She has had so many face-lifts that she has the “Casper The Friendly Ghost” look.

She is a charlatan and a crook at the level of a sleazy used car salesman.

They think they can sell anything by saying its for the children.

Paleeez

Where is that Iraq War plan they all campaigned on?

ScottyDog on January 5, 2007 at 12:04 AM

Calm down.

This is the best thing to happen to the republican party since Ronald Reagan.

Labamigo on January 5, 2007 at 12:11 AM

I see nothing but evil white children around Her Majesty Queen of Botox.

Will the media point out this appaling lack of diversity?

After all, those of us who were edjumacated in the public school system know full well that white people are the cause of all the world’s problems.

This is the best thing to do. Let’s put some commonsense into ourselves or we’ll lose again. There is no need calling her evil. She earned her position. By the way, she smiles like my mom. So full of life.

Ouabam on January 5, 2007 at 12:55 AM

I’m always wary of people who say “it’s for the children”.

Don’t get me wrong..I”m a HUGEEEE child advocate..but it sickens me how they are used at times by gov’t to pass things that have little or nothing to do with them.

Although I’m not happy about the liberal bastards taking over Congress, I am looking forward to being entertained by all the stupid stuff they’re going to do.

JackM on January 5, 2007 at 6:27 AM

Did anyone else find it disturbing that her 5 year old granddaughter was carrying that tiny newborn granddaughter? Pretty negligent on someone’s part.

Reminded me of Michael Jackson hanging his child over the hotel balcony.

stenwin77 on January 5, 2007 at 8:26 AM

As speaker of the house I now decree all of my illegal immigrants that are picking grapes now legal. I hereby establish the first immigrant union, no dues.
Therefore my workers are now union members and legal.
signed Nancy Pelosi, speaker of the house, and most powerful woman in the world.

Addendum: All money found in freezers will be frozen, and cannot be thawed out and used as evidence.

Democrats then: A chicken in every pot.
Democrats now: Un burrito en cada placa

Good call, she reminds of the activist group in California trying to pass a law to increase the minimum wage. They were caught paying their employees less than minimum wage. The excuse? We couldn’t compete and get the votes needed to pass this bill if we paid them minimum wage, let alone more.
The democrats will sacrifice everything you have to achieve what they want.
I wonder why the dems in California are such avid supporters of Indian casinos?…Pelosi’s husband and slot machines? Naw, just another coincidence.

right2bright on January 5, 2007 at 11:00 AM

I have never understood this “I am proud that a (fill in the blank) was elected” comment. Shouldn’t we just be interested in the best person? Pelosi does not represent woman, she represents wealthy powerful people, married to wealthy powerful businessman. If she represented women, Jane Harman would be in the mix.

If you were a member of a group who had never had one of their own in this position, believe me you would think it was nice. I had the same reaction to Albright and Rice. Take a breath why don’t you.

Back off honey, you do not know what group (your word) that I belong to. Glad to know that you group people, most liberals do.
If you think having a women in a position of power helps you, fine…I just don’t understand it. If you think having a black in a position of power helps the kids in South Central great. I have never seen the connection. It helps their kids, Jessie Jackson’s kids have done well. But he hasn’t helped the black kid in Atlanta or D.C. And Pelosi and her husband have made a lot of money. Your daughter will be a doctor or an attorney or a hairdresser, regardless of Pelosi or Rice. There is no connection.

right2bright on January 5, 2007 at 12:13 PM

honora, I bow to Messrs Gutenberg and Einstein, and Madame Cury, for what they invented and did, not for their gender.

The ‘me first’ cheapens accomplishments. I’d love to see Nancy’s grade list, her personal accomplishments. Please don’t come back with “she was elected to bla, bla, bla”. That is the easiest part in her district, with her husband’s money and both their scruples.

I want to see reported all which happened in “Little Italy”, during that time, before she married well.

Empty speaker in empty suit, no matter how elegantly cut. Nothing in an expensive suit is still nothing.

I agree with you on women dressing well. Other than that I’m with right2bright because it serves us women and others better.
