Rangel kicks “son of a bitch” out of Capitol office

The new lettering on the door will make good B-roll for Olbermann tonight. Promises made, promises kept.

Rep. Charles Rangel has evicted Vice President Dick Cheney from his office in the Capitol, and the Harlem heavyweight is moving into the prime digs today, The Post has learned…

Sources said Cheney’s and his staff’s belongings were removed over the holidays…

Rangel was giddy at the prospect of giving Cheney the boot the day after Democrats delivered Republicans a crushing defeat on Election Day…

Rangel was so eager to bounce Cheney from the office, he phoned new House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) less than 12 hours after the polls closed to get her approval.

Charlie, James Brown called, he wants his hair back.

Wander on January 4, 2007 at 10:55 AM

How is that Rangel, a representative, gets to kick Cheney, the President of the Senate, out of his offices? Is this one of those deals where I have to actually click the link or something? Come on Allah, let’s spoon feed the morons here. One-stop blogging, please.

Fred on January 4, 2007 at 10:56 AM

Ahh, yes…the bipartisan,peace-loving,tolerant left.

vcferlita on January 4, 2007 at 10:59 AM

Well that’s an important first step, moving into a luxurious office with a panoramic view.

Makes ya feel important.

Sounds like something a super-rich, trample-on-the middle-class CEO would do.

And were movin on up ….. to the East Side ….. a deeelux apartment in the skyyyyyy.

fogw on January 4, 2007 at 10:59 AM

Ahhhh, that’s our Charlie. All class.

Kadnine on January 4, 2007 at 11:00 AM

In a way, the GOP set themselves up for this. Did they think the Dems wouldn’t be their usual vindictive selves if they won a mid-term?

What’s the usual place for the VP to hang his/her hat/pocketbook, besides being banished to the Naval Observatory? Is it customary for the VP to have an office ther?

flipflop on January 4, 2007 at 11:02 AM

I don’t know, maybe it just me, but everytime I see Rangel on TV calling the Vice President of the United States a “son of a bitch”, I’m reminded of George “Kingfish” Stevens.

“Holy mackerel, dere”

there it is on January 4, 2007 at 11:09 AM

The so-called compassionate conservatives had 6 whole years to right the ship. They had 6 years to stand for something. They did give a little, but only what the Dems “allowed” them to. They never acted like a party in power. They were weak and got beat up by the bully!

So “fat head” wants his new office, so be it! We gave the RINOs the chance to fix it and they didn’t. America wants change and unfortunately I think they are going to get change. I just hope we survive this tide.

robman27 on January 4, 2007 at 11:13 AM

When he leaves that office will it get the Clintonista treatment, trashing and stealing ?

bbz123 on January 4, 2007 at 11:15 AM

This is what you get from a low-rent, low-class, poverty-pimp, victicrat racist. I think I almost covered it with one sentence. Remember, this is the idiot who said that instead of the KKK wearing white sheets they now wear suits and ties and pass tax-cuts. He also said that America is bombing civilians in Iraq. Harlem gets exactly what they deserve when they continue to vote this village idiot back into office…..

ritethinker on January 4, 2007 at 11:15 AM

Some of the scariest words I have heard….

Rep. Charles Rangel, the incoming chairman of the Ways and Means Committee.

Run for cover boys and girls!

Ann on January 4, 2007 at 11:21 AM

I could be vindictive and spiteful like a Democrat and wish that he eats a lot of bacon and eggs, and smokes excessively. But I won’t do that.

But should I ever see him on fire, I won’t stop to piss on him.

JammieWearingFool on January 4, 2007 at 11:22 AM

I wonder if Cheney took all the Ds off the keyboards?

BohicaTwentyTwo on January 4, 2007 at 11:23 AM

What did they expect? The Republican Party abandoned their values over the last two years and tried move to the center to get re-elected and lost the support of their base. The independents who normally voted for the republicans voted for the conservative democrats because more and more it is hard to tell the difference between the two.

Maybe this is the kick in the pants they need to get back to the agenda that got them elected in the first place. If they do this, maybe Rangel will get the boot after two years.

jman on January 4, 2007 at 11:29 AM

I wonder if the brilliant electorate truely realizes the extent of their blunder?

rplat on January 4, 2007 at 11:30 AM

Believe it or not, they’re still contesting the 13th District in Flordua.

Big babies.

How is that Rangel, a representative, gets to kick Cheney, the President of the Senate, out of his offices?

I was confused by this as well.

However, I did find this story from 2000 that says Hastert had offered Cheney an office on the House side which he could use to meet with House members. I’m guessing Rangel & Co. have no interest in meeting with him there (or anywhere) and of course, the good chairman will need “appropriate” accomodations. But, no worry, they will surely bring bipartisanship back to the Capitol…right? no?

I would assume Cheney still has digs on the Senate side.

Sorry to disappoint, but I just can’t imagine the Republican leadership handing over reins to TRUE conservatives before next election. It’s ran by RINOs and moderates (i.e., Bush, McCain, Martinez, et al…

Get ready for a John McCain nomination from the RNC and a John Edwards nomination from the DNC.

2008 = McCain vs. Edwards

As an old friend used to say, ‘the stupid shall be punished’, which pretty much sums up how I feel about those who voted the Dems into office. Of course, the rest of us will be punished for their stupidity. Maybe even more than the stupid, as we are now targets of Democrat wrath. I want to puke, but they’d probably tax me for doing it.

pistolero on January 4, 2007 at 11:51 AM

I’d like to see how many democrats can be forced from office in the next two years. Turnabout is fair play.

A credit to his race.

Why? The democrats have cleaned hosue. There will be no (reported on) scandals for the next 2 years. Dems will walk on wind driven snow…well if global warming didn’t melt it all first!

lorien1973 on January 4, 2007 at 12:44 PM

Maybe this is the kick in the pants they need

Unfortunately, I think you can kick Dick Cheney in the pants all day long and that evening he will finish up what he started that morning when you started kicking his pants.

Too many of our Republican (all electives)electives actions are not guided by the citizens of America.
The electives aren’t listening and the citizens are tolerating not being listened to.

Our own apathy is could be our own greatest enemy.

Speakup on January 4, 2007 at 1:09 PM

If this is what it takes to get the Republican Party to see the light and grow some cojones, then I say kick his butt out of the office and then kick it to the curb…just maybe that will make some of them fight back and fight dirty if necessary !

DoctorDentons on January 4, 2007 at 1:41 PM

I’ll be staying home on that election day…

OBX Pete on January 4, 2007 at 2:23 PM

If this were true, wouldn’t the Republicans still be in office?

Are we sovereign in our own Nation? Secure and safe to pursue happiness as guaranteed by the Constitution?

Are we an open accommodating Democracy or a strong independent Republic?

Are the Political elite listening, are we in control of our own Government, as intended?

Apathy and convenience always carry high price tags.
Tyranny, is one such price to pay for absentee Citizen Governance.
Our forefathers have warned us this would happen.

This is our Nation it’s our for the keeping or ours for the losing, which is it?

Speakup on January 4, 2007 at 2:53 PM

Cheney still has a very nice office right off the Senate floor.

Coastian on January 4, 2007 at 2:58 PM

I would add that Cheney’s spokeswoman had a reasonable, classy reply when they were first informed about Rangle’s intentions.

Megan McGinn, a spokeswoman for Cheney, said: “We have not seen Congressman Rangel’s comments, but it has always been our understanding that the vice president’s office in the House of Representatives was on a temporary loan. As the president said this afternoon, we look forward to working with the new Congress on issues confronting this country.

Coastian on January 4, 2007 at 3:02 PM

Woah, there, a bit too melodramatic now… This is more symbolic than anything, an Dem-o-thug trying to score points with his supporters. Cheney must have a dozen offices in and around D.C.

Are we sovereign in our own Nation? Secure and safe to pursue happiness as guaranteed by the Constitution?

What are you implying? I know I am 100% safe and secure to pursue happiness… as is anyone else who wants to do so (as long as that doesn’t mean blowing people up and the like)

Are we an open accommodating Democracy or a strong independent Republic?

Do you work for Zogby? Not sure what you mean by open accomodating, but if you think an absolute democracy would work, you’re nuts.

Are the Political elite listening, are we in control of our own Government, as intended?

They’re listening to someone, but no they don’t listen to everyone all the time, I don’t see it as being any different now than it was 200 years ago.

Apathy and convenience always carry high price tags.
Tyranny, is one such price to pay for absentee Citizen Governance.
Our forefathers have warned us this would happen.

We are a long, long way from tyranny, again too much drama here.
This is our Nation it’s our for the keeping or ours for the losing, which is it?
I think we’re good.

About the only thing they don’t tax is premature ejaculation. But I think that’s coming quickly.

I thought status doesn’t matter to the libs and that they only serve to distribute all and care for the ‘poor’.

Oh, the humanity they exhibit. I’m with those who said already “what did you expect?”.

Politics is Machiavellian and about Power. Period.

x95b10 on January 4, 2007 at 5:58 PM

I hate to be the lone cynic shining the harsh light of reality on all your hopes and dreams, but the Republican party is boned for the next long while. Need I remind you that Mel Martinez is the RNC chair? Yeah, I’ll bet he’s going to be ferreting out conservatives to run for office all over the country. Of course, the possible consolation is that last time RINOs had so much control over the party, the worst president ever was elected, but then Reagan wiped the floor with him in the next election. I doubt that’s going to happen this time though.

Anyway, I have to give Allah credit for managing to fit such an accurate and perfect description of Charlie ‘Chainsmoking’ Rangel in the post title, even if it wasn’t used that way.

I’m amazed, with the way he apologizes for Harlem crimes, that he hasn’t been a victim of black on black crime.

*Kiss my chances of holding public office good-bye…. :-(

Tim Burton on January 5, 2007 at 12:21 AM

The only time I probably agreed with him is that he thinks that everyone should serve the country in SOME fashion (not necessarily militarily). Anything else that comes out of his mouth is usually worse than sewage.

Highrise on January 5, 2007 at 4:52 AM

I laugh at rangel. To think of how many people he has enslaved, to depend on him to breathe, to eat, to live. Drunk on power he is. Thank God I do not rely on him for my well being, I rely on myself.
