You know how it is.
Taliban chief Mullah Mohammad Omar has added to the mystery over Osama bin Laden, saying he hasn’t seen his ally and fellow fugitive since US-backed forces ousted the Taliban from Afghanistan in late 2001.
“No, I have neither seen him, nor have I made any effort to do so, but I pray for his health and safety,” Omar said in an e-mailed response to questions sent by Reuters.
The questions were relayed to Omar through his spokesman Mohammad Hanif, and a reply was received late on Wednesday…
Afghanistan says Omar is based in or around the southwest Pakistani city of Quetta, but Omar said he is in Afghanistan.
Apart from Zarqawi, it’s been an awfully along time since we bagged any big fish. Let’s hope Bush’s approval rating plunges another ten points and he’s moved to produce one from that super-secret federal pen the left’s just sure he’s holding them all in.

Slightly On Topic: Has anyone else ever hunted on a game farm? It’s real simple, they keep the game birds in a netted cage. The day of the hunt, the guides catch the pheasants with a large butterfly nets and put them in boxes for transport. They take the birds into the field, pull them out of the cage, twirl them around to make them dizzy, then stuff them into clumps of grass. The birds stay there until you come back later to “hunt” them. The dogs “find” the birds, then you kick the grass clump until they fly. That’s when your paying hunter blasts them. Not knowing the process before hand, the paying hunter is well satisfied.
The mental image of a couple marines pulling OBL out of a cell, throwing him in a box, taking him to a cave, forcing him to do “dizzy lizzy” with a baseball bat, and then Dick Cheney arriving later for part of his “guided hunt” leaves a satisfying smile on my face.
Especially the part where Cheney has to shoot OBL a dozen times because he’s using 20 guage bird shot.

I have long been in the minority saying OBL has been Purina Vulture Chow for some time now. But nobody has much of an interest in declaring it. We say he’s dead, and proof will be demanded, conspiracies spun, “we’ve won so bring ‘em home” fires up, etc. They say he’s dead and we look like we have kicked them straight in the wedding tackle.
So it is going to be a series of second hand statements from #2 for the foreseeable future.
Bah.

I am also one of those conspiracy theorists who say that OBL is probably dead, or being hidden in a secret prison (and happy about it). wouldn’t surprise me one bit.

“Gauge”, with respect to shotguns, is barrel diameter. Shot size is just a number – for quail/pheasant/etc, usually a #8 works fine.
