HOUSE ETHICS? Since when?
seejanemom on January 3, 2007 at 8:35 AM
The Crunchy Cons and Libertarians better start finding there way out of their burrows, or its six more years of “bi-partisan” shadow dancing.
seejanemom on January 3, 2007 at 8:38 AM
What rankles is that this air of “bipartisanship” is a one-way road. It takes little imagination to surmise what the reaction would be if a Republican had done the same thing that Conyers has: Donk and media page one/lead story caterwauling about the “culture of corruption” coupled with his fellow Republicans calling for (and getting) his pelt.
That’s the neat thing about being a donk, though:
- Since you don’t really pretend to have any moral compass to begin with, and
- Because you know that even if you do something unethical the major media will collectively yawn, and
- Because you know the Republicans will bizarrely rush to your defense even when they know you’d crucify them for doing the same thing;
– Then you know that the only operational ethical rule is that there are no rules. For you, anyway.
It’s gonna be a long, long two years.

What the heck have the Republicans been drinking? Been drinking at the Dems trough? I am more pissed off at the weak Republicans who are afraid to stand up and shout down these criminals. Giving Conyers a pass is stupid, let alone enabling. A party of wimps.
right2bright on January 3, 2007 at 9:30 AM
Throw the garbage Out Right on again Michelle……….gotta love her facts of truth but it won’t matter with the Demmi’s
bones47 on January 3, 2007 at 9:53 AM
Well, the Republicans will be in for a surprise when that “bipartisan” concept is thrown out the window tomorrow and Pelosi’s gang starts ramming through all sorts of nonsense while not allowing the GOP to participate.

Fox, meet henhouse…
Don’t EGG them on…
Mazztek on January 3, 2007 at 10:18 AM
Can I be in charge of the beer and wine supplies then?
Unbelievable. Only in Congress can you break the law and then be put in charge of the Judiciary committee.
When are the Republicians going to go on the offense? Start calling the Demo’s out on all their BS. We need a Designated Hitter to get in front of cameras to make the Demo’s cry “you’re not playing fair.” Where is the leadership? And I’m not talking about the wimps there now.
VikingGoneWild on January 3, 2007 at 11:20 AM
Bullseye on both counts.
It’s un-freakin’-believable that Dems can continue to get away with corruption like this.
And it’s un-freakin’believable that so-called Republicans in congress are too p***y to call them on it, instead adopting W’s “new tone”.
On an unrelated note, Michelle you need another bowl or two of chicken soup ;)

Sorry Michelle (and the rest of you), but I am not at all mystified by the “bi-partisan CYA syndrome” that we are all witnessing. I believe that the Republicans are cognizant of that old proverb:
“People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.”
The Republicans know they are guilty of PLENTY. Sure, the Dhimmicrats are most likely guilty of WAY more graft and corruption than our side, but the Republicans know that if they speak up, the Democrats will retaliate. The Republicans also know that if the Dhimmis can’t find any wrong-doings on the Republican side to “expose,” the unhinged leftists won’t hesitate to fabricate or manufacture something completely artificial. Furthermore, both sides know that by the time that the MSM finally owns up to (or finishes) fanning the flames of false charges, the damage will have already been done. Sort of like the Duke U. lacrosse team rape case that has been playing out in the media.
Politics is a very dirty business. Righteous people who possess some measure of integrity are not at all immune to being unfairly soiled by all of it. Perhaps that’s why we all hang out at blogs like HA — and why we find all of this stuff so fascinating.

Great Vent Michelle!
I believe that comments by (thirteen28 on January 3, 2007 at 11:55 AM) were right on. (It sure would be nice to have numbers on the commments to make reference easier.)
Hope you get better soon Michelle!

You know, Conyer’s wife (part of his illegal use of staff concerned her campaign) is now a Detroit City Council Member. SHE presented to city council earlier this year that the Detroit/Windsor tunnel be renamed in HIS honor. I guess that whas her “thanks honey.”
Carin on January 3, 2007 at 12:48 PM
That job used to belong to Newt and Trent. See where that got them? Hey now. That’s a team I could vote for. Gingrich/Lott ‘08!
R D on January 3, 2007 at 1:36 PM
Good Vent, perfect finish. It really should be that simple.
I’m just too pissed to say much here, she hasn’t really even started, and we have two more years of this crime spree?
Pelosi= I’ve been writing peloser but it might need to be looser= pelooser.
Her actions are clearly not helpful cleaning, but actually getting looser!
shooter on January 3, 2007 at 1:54 PM
I think you are right on the fact about glass houses. But the Dems have no problems throwing stones and it works for them. Being passive will not win you elections.
Oh and here is novel idea, how about cleaning our house so we can throw stones.
right2bright on January 3, 2007 at 3:10 PM
Launch the stones! The glass be damned! It’s time to start slitting throats. If the righties went on a rampage, in the end, they would win because truth will out. By holding ourselves back, we play their game and thereby lose.
urbancenturion on January 3, 2007 at 5:00 PM
Sorry, MM. Meant to say great Vent, very hard-hitting without pulling punches. I love it.
urbancenturion on January 3, 2007 at 5:01 PM
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
I seriously wish there was a viable 3rd Party. A Party that doesn’t only give lip service to conservative values and ideals.
I can only imagine how the Founding Fathers would react to what the nation they formed has become but I imagine they’d be tempted to grab a rifle and start another Revolution
Yakko77 on January 3, 2007 at 7:06 PM
Speaker Botox Clean House? Please! That’s what her illegals are for.
E L Frederick (Sniper One) on January 3, 2007 at 8:19 PM
This is too easy:
A pox on both Houses!
“the most ethical…” - on which planet?
Entelechy on January 3, 2007 at 10:55 PM
It appears we have a “culture of corruption” in Congress.
Rick on January 4, 2007 at 12:13 AM
Michelle - you’re assuming that Democrats are against corruption. How could their party survive a day without it???
