Saddam’s era has ended, we will have to wait and see what the future brings. For now, it doesn’t appear to be bright, to say the least….

Now that the world is rid of that particular demon, let’s see how much the “world community” can do to help the poor individual Iraqi. I doubt much. These brave guys and gals in our military should be sainted for all that they are doing and trying to do. If all of the naysayers in the UN would just contribute a very small amount to the rebuilding of a broken country (Iraq), then it would be a totally different story. What they say and what they do are two different things, sadly.

I don’t think the death of Saddam is going to make much of a difference to our heroes over there on the ground. I expect some celebration, but when you’ve lived like these Iraqis have for so long, you’re probably afraid still that it will come back and bite you; if you show any particular leaning toward any (political) group and you lose the gamble, you literally lose everything.

I can only hope and pray that some day these hopelessly lost people can come together and actually build something for themselves. I can hope but realistically, I can also pray at the same time for what’s to come.

No sympathy here for Saddam Hussein, only contempt. My sympathy, for now, goes out to the average everyday Iraqi, who just wants a life and a world in which he can build one. I hope Saddam enjoys hell.
