That’s a very good point. I do hope we’re taking advantage of the opportunity to kill as many jihadists as possible. Like I said … winning this war on terror is going to require a lot more brutality and bloodshed.

Yes, the war against Saddam was won. Quite handily, too.

As for the war against terrorism, its still going on. No one has claimed victory. Lets not forget that Bush did war early on that the WT would take several years. I know some of you have conveniently forgotten that, but those of grounded in “reality” and historical context haven’t.

Of course … the war is not over yet, but it’s looking doubtful that Bush will have the balls to do what it takes to win. If we’re going to win, it’s going to take a hell of a lot more brutality and civilian deaths. It’s also going to take a major war with Iran, and some type of action against Syria.

Yes. Even Israel says they lost. Why wouldn’t I?

Again, the soldiers did not lose the physical battle, but the leaders refused to allow them to actually conduct war. Therefore, they most definitely got their asses kicked. It’s not possible to claim victory when you run away, is it? Did Israel gain anything from the war? Did they accomplish their objective? Is Hezbollah weaker, or more powerful as a result?

Those answers are obvious, and make it impossible to deny which side lost that war.

Much the same questions can be asked of us.

Have we gained anything from this war so far? I don’t think so. Have we accomplished our objective? No way. Since the war was based on the concept of fighting “terrorism” … are there more terrorists now, than before? Or less? I believe the answer to that would be far more. Why? Because our inept President and Donald Rumsfeld have somehow been unable to stop the constant flow of hundreds of thousands of people, and massive shipments of weapons from crossing the border into Iraq. How is that? With our technology, our satellites, our numbers? A fourth grader can figure out that the way to win this war is to stop the flow of insurgents, and to disarm the enemy. We have the finest military in the world, and technology that can snap pictures of a zit on bin-Laden’s nose … but we’re unable to seal the borders in and out of Iraq. Please!

My personal opinion is that it is impossible to “win the war on terror” without taking out Syria and Iran.

As for Israel … as long as Lebanon, Syria, and Iran are controlled or influenced by Hezbollah, they have not won any war. I’m not really sure if you can find a single Israeli who feels they won the war. In fact, Israelis are pretty much unanimous in wanting Olmert chased out of town.

All it takes is a single bomb for Israel to be but a memory. That threat – in itself – is defeat.

Yes, we’re “kicking their ass” in number of deaths … but they are kicking ours as far as sheer will. To state that we’re kicking thier ass at the same time our cowards in Congress are debating how fast to run away … is a bit over-reaching. And Olmert is still feeling the pain in Israel.

Yes, militarily we are kicking their butts. As for “politically” it depends on who you want to believe – the MSM or History. Lets not forget, the same MSM claimed we were “losing the peace” and whined about German insurgents after WW2.

I doubt it considering that the press corps is too chicken to go out into a real war and see stuff first hand. They’ll get “stories” whether it happens or not. I don’t think Ethiopia cares much, and I don’t think they’d hesitate to “accidentally” take out any stringers.
