I’m just a simple unfrozen cave-man blogger. Your modern “diplomacy” and “negotiation” confuse and frighten me. So maybe someone can clarify this:

Somalia is largely run by an Al-Qaeda-linked Taliban-style Islamist theocracy that has declared war on Ethiopia. Today, Ethiopia strikes down upon them with great vengeance and furious anger.

Wow a reference to Phil Hartman and Pulp Fiction in a single post.

That alone is worthy of some creed.

As I understand it, there are many different groups fighting for power in Somalia. There's a possibility that open U.S. support for Ethiopia will play into the hands of the islamists in Somalia (and beyond). The islamists are doing everything they can globally to appear as the only ones who are capable of opposing the U.S. That might be why Alejandro Wolf is pussying out.

Someone earlier asked, aren't we fighting a war on terror? Yes, and that ended up being our first mistake. Terror is a tactic, not an enemy. The enemy of course is the jihadists, the islamo-fascists who commit the terror. In order to defeat the enemy you must do two things of many first; identify the enemy then allocate all resources to defeat this enemy. We have done neither unfortunately. We still can't see the enemey and what action we've taken is the equivalent of taking a knife to a gun-fight........

I hate to say it, but Bush's admirable "War on Terror" doctrine seems to be dead (or at least, on its last legs).

It has achieved some remarkable successes - demonstrated by the thwarting of terror plots across the world and the inability of Al Qaeda to launch a single attack on the U.S. since 9/11.

Groups like Al Qaeda & Hamas have been largely crippled by successful military action, effective security measures, good intelligence and the cutting of finances.

It's a bitter irony then, that this successful war on terror has not been mortally wounded by terrorists, but by the seditionary actions of domestic "liberals".

Five years of media pressure, Democratic party interference and general left wing moaning have made it increasingly uncomfortable for Bush to act.

The left will, of course, vocally deny any support of terror and extremism, but what other conclusion can one draw when their actions create tangible benefits for Islamofascists?

The impediment of the patriot act by the democratic party, the exposure of intelligence practices by the NY Times and the left's general mischaracterization of terrorist surveillance as "domestic wiretapping" are three prime cases in point.

It's also fair to say that the gusto with which the war on terror was initially pursued, dropped off dramatically with the somewhat tangential ousting of Saddam.

Of course Saddam was a tyrant and anyone with a conscience should be celebrating his demise, but Iraq was never as central to international terrorism as, say, Syria & Iran.

Had those regimes been neutered beforehand, the liberation of Iraq would have been a lot more straightforward.

Much as I admire Bush for being the only leader with the integrity to take the war to the Islamofascists, I think it is a crying shame that he feels the need to temper his policy with consideration for Liberals (see immigration). It doesn't work anyway. They still hate him.

Ethiopia is not bothered by irrelevancies like the desire to please Liberals. Perhaps we should let them conduct the war in Iraq and against Hezbollah!

It does actually strengthen the case that the UN is nothing but a body sheild for the Militant Muslim movement that's trying to over run africa, Europe, and the middle east. It won't be long till they'll turn on Russia ... more than they already have.

Congrats, See-Dubya, on joining the HA team.

We definitely need to support the Ethiopians... no, they're not perfect, but I think fighting Islamofascists will be similiar to fighting Communists, to wit: "The enemy of my enemy is my friend".

When are we going to kick the UN out of our country? If I want a limp dick, child raping, money stealing and corrupt organization trying to do something I'll turn to the UN.

How much more money could we pour into our military budget for increasing the pay of the troops, lowering our taxes or building a secure border fence?

As a bonus we can turn the UN building into waterfront condos and increase the liberal tax base. Eminent domain, a case that works.

BTW, shouldn't it be "UNAF"? United Nations Against Freedom

Great, with this going on the price of babies for Hollywood is going through the roof. U.N. needs oil for babies program, and a oil for slaves program.
One Solution: Ship lost of arms to both nations and make a few bucks. As someone once said "Let God sort them out".

I'm wondering why we - with the supposedly greatest military in the world, no? - let the situation get so out of hand in Somalia? Aren't we fighting a war on terrorism, or is that now so yesterday? Why do I get the sinking feeling our leaders (hello W, where are you?) are just wishing this would go away, instead of preemptively making sure it never happened in the first place? Are we that paralyzed now??? that scared of what stupid names the "anti-war" moonbats will call us?

Diplomacy without teeth is bullsh*t. All we've got now is diplomacy with teeth-gnashing.

Remember how well diplomacy worked in the '30s when Japan attacked China, Italy attacked Ethiopia(!) and Germany grabbed the Sudetenland?

I expect America's treason class (the MSM, liberals, and the Democratic Party) to object strongly to Ethiopia's war on Al Qaeda in Somalia. I expect them to demand that Ethiopia withdraw unilaterally and unconditionally from Somalia.

Why?

Because all their actions since March of 2003 has been to sabotage America's war against Al Qaeda and the other Islamofascist states including Iraq. And now they are DEMANDING that there be no "surge" of troops in Iraq, but a unilateral withdrawal -- cut and run!

So why wouldn't they attempt to undermine and sabotage the destruction of Al Qaeda as it tries to take over Somalia?

We have a sizable military force next door and we should be prepared to give Ethiopia what ever assistance it needs, though at this point, they have the Islamofascists on the run. Al Qaeda running Somalia will turn Somalia into Afghanistan and become a base for planning and executing attacks upon the United States. We cannot allow that to happen.

Ethiopia is exercising it's right as a sovereign nation to defend itself from an imminent threat. Their efforts should be applauded, encouraged, and supported; as opposed to being THWARTED by useless diplo-speak at the United Nations.

Somalia has been a cesspool for some time now. Any change there would be an improvement, and any action that slows militant Islam's growth in Africa, or anywhere else, is a Godsend.
