KNBC gives Kwanzaa full treatment, doesn’t explain Christ in Christmas

LAist sends news KNBC in Los Angeles gave Kwanza the full treatment in a explanation of the holiday. However, when it came to Christmas, the station seemed ignorant, or willfully ignorant of the meaning behind Christmas.
He broke down the number of times Christmas was uttered and the usage various other words, but there was no mention of Jesus or Jesus Christ:
“Christmas” was uttered 30 times.
“Holiday” was said 10 times.
“Santa” – twice
“pope” – twice
“tsunami” – three times
“savior” – once
LAist counters the “but everyone knows Jesus” argument:
And if their argument is “everyone knows today is Jesus’s birthday”, we would argue back that everyone knew it was nice outside and yet the weather guy got a hearty amount of airtime to tell us just that.

My neighbor sent me a Kwanzaa card. I’m not sure why. Yes, she’s black but she is Catholic and goes to mass every day.

it’s trendy to shaft the Christians
didn’t you know?
One Angry Christian on December 27, 2006 at 2:25 PM
Did the card still have the “markdown monkey” sticker on it?
(If it did, get a clue.)

Don’t have time for both links, hafta go take a Kwanzaa.
infidel4life on December 27, 2006 at 2:31 PM
Kwaanza is just a made up holiday for African-American to further segregate themselves. They want equality in every way, but then at every opportunity want things for ‘their own’ – cake and eat it too.

Heres an interesting article on the ‘founder’ of Kwanzaa also.

Another Liberal plot to reduce the importance of Black people to The United States of America.
Black people were riped from Africa and striped of all African identity. In effect we are a new race of people. Our experience is so unique and interwoven into American history and culture it is self defining.
Isn’t it about time we own it? Our strength and perseverance are the epitome of the American dream. The human rights struggle is an undeniable legacy to the Greatness of America.
Liberals resent this and try to turn it into a negative. It is proof of “bad America”. It is proof of “racist America”.
Kwanza is another form of segregation and confusion – like the Nation of Islam, Black Jesus, Black Jews – etc.

ummmm…. I hate to be technical, but Jesus’ birthday isn’t actually given a date in the Bible, and something tells me there wouldn’t be any shepards out grazing sheep at night at during the winter solstice…

True, but that’s not the point. Christmas is the time that Christians have designated to celebrate the birth of their chosen deity. Doesn’t much have to do with the date anymore, and yes it’s pretty obvious Christ was probably born in the spring.
Stay on topic, or I’ll sentence you to ten years in diversity training.
One Angry Christian on December 27, 2006 at 3:00 PM
that by the way … was a joke.
Just incase anyone missed it.
One Angry Christian on December 27, 2006 at 3:00 PM
You know, I feel sorry for Kwanza. The problem is that Kwanza was created by an atheist Marxist in order to replace Christmas. It should have been created as a celebration of African culture. I have no problem celebrating another’s culture. I drink Guiness on St Patrick’s Day. I drink Corona on Cinco de Mayo. Find me a good African beer and I will be more than happy to celebrate Kwanza.
BohicaTwentyTwo on December 27, 2006 at 3:05 PM
I thougth everyone knew that Kwanzaa is a made up “holiday” conceived (but not of the Holy Spirit) by a black racist?
Just like everyone knows that Jesus (the Jew, not the illegal) wasn’t born on Dec. 25th, right? And that the date was choses in accordance with some Pagan day celebrating the Winter solstice?

Waaahhh! You said a bad thing. Just wait until the trolls see your post. They’ll be OUTRAGED!
So tell us. What did you do to p*ss your friend off so that she sent you a Kwanzaa card? Or does she just have a well developed sense of humor?
CyberCipher on December 27, 2006 at 3:10 PM
I would agree with you about the specious origins of Kwanzaa, but notice the venom in your post, “they want equality in every way”, is there somethng wrong with that? Does that take something away from you? You see this as “divisive” and see us “wanting things for their own” as a problem? Since when does not wanting to be oppressed or as you put it, “wanting equality in every way” mean that we want to be White? Don’t you have St. Patricks day? Isn’t that about as exclusively “white” as a holiday can get? I don’t see blacks having a problem with that, in fact many of us get drunk with you! So, why the venom? Look, I think Karenga the founder of Kwanzaa is a piece of shit, and I would never celebrate ANYTHING started by a liberal in the first place. But your post speaks to deeper and uglier feelings about others than is warranted. Don’t Whites “have their cake and eat it too” every damned day? Jeez. And for your information we dont “want” equality in every way, we are equal to you in every way, made so by God, our “WANT” has been for White people to finally live up to the creed of the constitiution and stop HARMING us “in every way”. Our want has not been to “BE EQUAL” you can’t reasonably wish to be something that you already are, our “want” has been for the depraved white society that saw itself above all other races on earth, to WAKE UP. Our desire has been for Whites to finally become civilized but you make even that wish seem like a crime. It’s almost as if you don’t realize that Whites were WRONG, Depraved AND perverted for having or even WANTING a society where they,….had all the cake.
BTW: What made you think that Kwanzaa was an exclusively “Black” holiday? Just because it was started by a blackman? There are White people who celebrate Kwanzaa as it’s principles of “Unity” ,”empowerment”, blah, blah, are universal, though sickeningly liberal.

The best article written on it is from Tony Snow here:
http://www.jewishworldreview.com/tony/snow123199.asp
Tony said: “There is no part of Kwanzaa that is not fraudulent.” And then he goes on to rightly mock the stupid observance of the ears of corn by pointing out that corn was never indigenous to Africa.
BelchSpeak on December 27, 2006 at 3:28 PM
Just imagine if you were an African American child with one Jewish parent and one Christian parent. The whole month of December is a holiday with gifts everyday. I see a little bit of time at the begining of the month in case the Muslims want to invent a quick holiday to stick in there so they can act all outraged when it doesn’t get the same attention as other holidays.
LakeRuins on December 27, 2006 at 3:30 PM
Actually, according to this article, the date was chosen in accordance with the ancient Jewish tradition that said the prophets died on the same date as their birth or conception. The pagan festival of the sun was established as Dec. 25 by Aurelian in 274.

Hey AP, it seems that you take time out to chastise me on the vitriol against homosexuals and profanity etc, but RACIST posts like the one above go unchallenged, what’s up with that? But when I call this butthole a racist, I become the bad guy? And have to wade through dozens of posts calling me Al Sharpton? Is that kind of “comment” okay? I don’t think you’d like it too much if I said some racist things about Whites would you? But then, I’d probably just get censored while the racists are allowed to remain, huh? Thanks…Merry Christmas.
BTW: I realize that you are tremendously busy and don’t have the time to examine every post especially ones not flagged by the filter. If this is the case no harm no foul. I guess my overall point is that when I call someone a racist I do not do it without a damned good reason!

You presume that I made a racial slur. Only I know my true motivation. I apologize that the post “appeared” to be a racial slur. I only used the “markdown monkey” analogy since that is precisely what the HA sight uses to signify that something has been devalued. I can see how this might have been mis-understood. I was only trying to imply that the card had been “marked down,” and that is why EF received it in lieu of a Christmas card. Again, I apologize for the misunderstanding. I’ll try to be more careful, but rest assured that my reference to “markdown monkey” was in no way intended to slur EF’s friend.
CyberCipher on December 27, 2006 at 3:41 PM
I just scanned the responses here, but I caught something funny.
Doesn’t anyone get that the white race is the one race that really hate’s itself? The white race is the one race that it’s popular to denegrate your own people as the worlds worst populace in existance. It actually increases your chances of being seen as “tolerant” and “diverse”.
Whites can be racist … against their own kind. It’s actually rather common on the left.
If you don’t get that there’s no help for you.
sorry.
One Angry Christian on December 27, 2006 at 3:51 PM
Hey Soothsayer
I read that post and my thought was that CyberCipher was making a joke about your friend not wanting to spend a lot of money on your card…i.e. if there were leftover Easter cards for a dime that’s what you would have got. No race involed. And I saw no mention of “Al Sharpton” here. Perhaps their is a hidden meaning to the “markdown monkey” I have never heard of it I guested it was from a chainstore out east somewhere. I think you may have read into it more than what was there.

Kwanza is a conceived event to ride on the back of Christmas demanding equal time under some liberal marxist doctrine. On its own it would be a non event, not worth the time of day. It only lives through the lunacy of multiculturalism and their diversity indoctrination.

BohicaTwentyTwo on December 27, 2006 at 4:28 PM
When I look at black Americans, I see a long history of persevering against oppression, and I think about the courage that they showed working toward their long-deserved civil rights.
When a typical lefty liberal look at black American history, they don’t learn (nor can they really understand) that the perseverance was noble per se, as evidenced by the good it did and the rights it won; their tunnel-vision perspective only allows them to think about how evil and unfair the oppression was.
My apologies if this sounds even the least bit condescending; God knows I don’t mean to condescend to a fellow American.

Why isn’t Jesus Christ or Christ mentioned? We Christians know why.
There are several statement in the bible regarding this. Let’s see who can list one.

According to the now famous geneticist Spencer Wells, an American/Stanford Ph.D.employed at Oxford, white people haven’t been around for very long. For more info do a search on the book entitled “The Journey of Man” I highly recommend the National Geographic Special presentation of the same material and same title available on DVD.) Humans built on the current “software version” of our DNA have been around for roughly 60,000 years or (probably more accurately) roughly 2000 generations. But the DNA evidence in our blood samples indicate that the Europeans or Caucasions have only been around for about 20,000 years. African bushmen are the oldest race of humans on the planet, followed closely by the Aboriginies of Australia. The east asian races are older than white people as well. So white people are sorta’ like the “new kid on the block.” Would it be less than magnanomous of me to say that it appears that they have sometimes had a bit of difficulty “fitting in” with the rest of the “more established” peoples of the earth? But the statement that “they hate themselves” should probably be used exclusively in reference to white liberals. I’m not sure that I ever remember seeing a conservative that subscribes to that kind of self-denigration.

John 15:18
Romans 1:21-22, 28-32
There’s two, for openers.
From the political angle, it’s a simple matter of what is and isn’t PC to be spoken of. It’s ok to talk about the “underdog”, because it isn’t likely to threaten the mighty wall of separation of church and state.
At least the media hasn’t (yet) censored “A Charlie Brown Christmas”. A child gets more truth in that hour than they would from ten years of watching TV news.

Just more libbie rubbish, of course.

Soothsayer won’t be back now that he’s been busted race baiting and jumping to conclusions, calling people racists.
That said, he’ll probably assume the same about this, just because he’s a raging lunatic who will totally miss the joke and assume it’s a dig at black people…

In spite of attempts to make this celebration multicultural, Kwanzaa was clearly created with the intention of this being a “Black Only” cultural event. This would explain stories regarding white parents of black children who have been banned from entering Kwanzaa celebrations (”White Mother Unwelcomed at Black Gathering,” San Francisco Chronicle; San Francisco, Calif.; Dec 29, 1993).

Kwanza offends me as a Christian by glomming on to tradition associated with the holiday for Christ’s birth. Where they make it comically obvious is the rip-off of the menorah at Hanaka.
