Andy Williams, Perry Como, Bing Crosby, Johnny Mathis, these were staples at Christmas time.

Karen Carpenter’s voice was mesmerizing during Christmas time as well.

Mel Torme, “The Velvet Fog,” wrote the lyrics and music for “The Christmas Song.” Mel’s is my favorite version, but Nat “King” Cole, Johnny Mathis, Andy Williams, and Perry Como are right up there.

Who can ignore the song “White Christmas,” from the movie of the same name sung by Bing Crosby?

Alastair Sim as Ebenezer Scrooge in the 1951 movie “A Christmas Carol” was my favorite of the Dickens “A Christmas Carol” movies. The credits list Charles Dickens as the director.

Also in that movie is John Steed, AKA Patrick MacNee (Actually, it was Patrick MacNee playing John Steed).

Nevertheless, Patrick MacNee appeared in the movie “A Christmas Carol” with Alastair Sim. Patrick MacNee played a young Jacob Marley in that movie.

I saw “A Christmas Carol” in black and white as a grade school child in the small school hall on those old projection machines projected onto a pull up movie screen. I remember it to this day, and I LOVE it!

The black and white version, the original, is my personal favorite.

My wife and I enjoy “A Christmas Story.”

Our small children, ages nine, six, and twelve years of age, enjoy it now also.

We did watch it a few times while it was on TBS cable station 24 hour marathon.

It reminds me of my childhood.

I’ve always thought that R. Lee Ermey should have gotten at least an Academy Award nimination for his role as Gunny Hartman in “Full Metal Jacket”.

It seems only right, since R. Lee had been hired as a Military Advisor for the film and was offered an on-the-spot audition by Stanley Kubrick for the role after Bruce Willis, who’d been hired to play Hartman, walked off the set due to “artistic differences”.

“Batman: The Animated Series” finally got The Dark Knight right!. “Holiday Knight” is a favorite of mine.

Always confused about How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Why did he give the Whos all their gifts back? They were perfectly happy without them…..

Though not a Christmas tale per se, always love the movie and book A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and the O’Henry story The Gift of the Magi.
