Well, it’s not even that I want to go, I was just curious how New Yorkers view such things. Like I lived in Nashville for about 5 years and people are always like “who did you meet!?” (for country stars), which was kind of weird to me. I didn’t go to any (big) concerts the entire time I was there, but met a bunch when I worked at one tourist trap, etc. But it’s like I didn’t devote a fraction of a second to “meeting” anyone famous or doing anything particularly “Nashville”…

So anyway, I probably wouldn’t waste my time at SNL, but might consider going to see Conan… but really I was just curious if New Yorkers ever go to these tapings or if it’s entirely tourists.

You NYC folks are lucky. There’s so much to see for visitors. Yes, Houston is an oil and petrochemical giant. But there’s really not much else in this area. However, I’ll be the first to admit that the viscous layer of brown atmosphere does make for some spectacular sunrises.

I would say they are “touristy” things to do….thats what I heard from the people I was living with there…not that I actually ever wanted to go…there is just too much to do in NYC to worry about Conan etc.

Saturday night, our whole family watched “It’s a Wonderful Life” — I’d never seen the beginning of it. When it was over, I told my wife about the SNL “lost ending” version, which I think was genuinely in the Yuletide spirit. I mean, what could be more Christmas-y than kicking the crap out of Old Man Potter?

Right Winged: I’m a New Yorker and they tape the “Colbert Report 1/2 block from my apartment…same place they once taped Jon Stewart…have never been to one of their tapings.Directly across the street is Sony Studios…never been there. All too “touristy”.
