Napolitano asks why the administration didn't aggressively prosecute Berger. Isn't it the job of FOX news to answer that question? They do have a White House press correspondent, last time I checked.

If it was a Republican stealing documents, you know David Gregory would be raising hell and wouldn't drop it until he found out what happened.

Good grief. You're right, to my total lack of surprise.

That attempted redirection was almost of Lawrence O'Donnell quality in its ineptitude and transparency.

Bush has made a huge, concerted effort to shield Clinton from any blame regarding 9/11. He did this for several reasons but I believe chief among them is the “boys club” mentality that is so pervasive among our government officials

My rule would be to hold this till the other side reneges then I would... "Leak" out a little bit of info the Clinton's wouldn't want to see public. Just to remind them who hold the Office now. If they didn't fall back in line I would forget about the "boy's club" and have at them!!!
But that's just me, what do I know?

The only mistake Berglar made was getting caught. Again Bush comes to the rescue, in essence giving Berglar a pardon.

Meanwhile a couple of Border Patrol agents are being sent to prison for shooting an illegal alien drug smuggler fleeing back south, after driving 800 pounds of MJ into this country.

"absurd and embarrassing" ?

You brought it on yourself you fool!

If I recall correctly, Burglar was a former patent lawyer prior to Bubba tapping him.

What is absurd and embarrassing is the slap on the wrist this jackass got.

What is absurd and embarrassing is every sniveling libtard whining about Joe Wilson or his bimbo wife, yet totally ignoring this mess.

I have held a security clearance before, and will never forget how serious it was to handle classified material appropriately. I wonder how many former military members, who likely held much lower clearances than Burglar, were drummed out of the military or prosecuted for much lesser violations.

"The notes said Berger had not been aware that Archives staff had been tracking the documents
he was provided because of earlier suspicions from previous visits that he was removing materials."

Just saw this quote, and now I'm all fired up again. What were they tracking? How many previous visits? How did he still manage to get stuff out? How much stuff did he steal?

Seriously though, does anyone think Clinton wasn’t involved in this Berger thing? Does anyone think that whatever documents he stole were to cover his own ass alone? I have no doubt this went to the top.

Had to come from the top. If word got out he screwed up, he'd lose face, if he got caught stealing classified documents....oh...wait, nevermind.

(Still, he couldn't have known he'd get away with it so easily, it must have felt like a big risk initially, had to be some great incentive)

There have only been 43 presidents, a very select group.
Actually, there have only been 42, because Grover Cleveland served two non-consecutive terms. (Unless you want to include the Presidents of the Continental Congress after the Declaration of Independence, in which case you'd have more than 43.)

I mention this quibble because Cleveland is my ideal for term limits. Rather than limiting politicians to a certain number of terms as entrenched encumbents, followed by one as a lame duck, I like the idea of them going up for fresh air.

Shameless. They should all be charged and tried. Bill Clinton for his pardons-for-cash, pardons-for-votes, Chinagate, etc.; Hillary for Travelgate, the FBI files, the Rose Law Firm files; Gore for his “no controlling legal authority”; Reno for Waco, Elian…getting typer’s cramp.

And I agree with ritethinker about the "boys club", and Bush family's respectful ways. And I'd add, why doesn't he hammer the Dems with their WMD quotes while they still constantly call him a liar? All these Dems who made a stronger case for 13 years leading up to the war! That's just scratching the surface, but I think he could actually have done much better for himself if he hit back hard against the Dems on that and every other bogus scandal they create, seemingly weekly.

fogw, what is going on is the oppositeof "The Star Chamber": Here and now, in the Clintonized America, the guilty don'tget punished. The Clintons openly and blatantly committed serious crimes & misdemeanors, but somehow nothing happens

Bush has made a huge, concerted effort to shield Clinton from any blame regarding 9/11. He did this for several reasons but I believe chief among them is the “boys club” mentality that is so pervasive among our government officials

Did Jimmah have his membership revoked?

Ya know, there was a movie years ago called “The Star Chamber”, where a handful of judges and lawyers exacted their own “punishment” on criminals who managed to skirt an incompetent and corrupt judicial system. We should look into instituting this policy in the real world for the likes of that scumbag Berger who bows to the Clintonistas, and moons our laws and constitution.

Sandy Berger; friend of the Clintons, ally of the terrorists, enemy of the state. This nation has hanged people for far less offenses.

lorien- You can go here and download Quicktime 7 (for free) and then you shouldn’t have any more problems. It’s the official site, so no worries about infections.

Here comes the judge! I love him. That Dem-strategist was too funny. First Rove, then Plame, then WMD. Did he realize what the topic of conversation was?

Must have been bigger than the guesses. What would compel a man of his political stature to stoop to petty ante theft? He was the only one that had the credentials to get in the door, and the cover when he got caught to do the job?
If Clinton was a Republican, they would be screaming for his political head, based on the actions of his subordinate, but the whole crew involved is Democrat. The "Watergate" sledgehammer is only used as an offensive weapon against Republicans. (We'll see it wielded soon, swinging for Bush - God help us all).
Amazing how so many Clinton associates end up ruined. "In thrall" keeps coming to mind ...

Where are all the Pulitzer-wannabees, seeking fame and glory digging up the story? This is the Clinton era all over again, with murders and rape and ridiculously obvious corruption ignored or barely covered.

As much as I hate Berger and other Clintonistas, I hate the press more: the media are the 'enablers': without their complicity and Convenient Silence, the Clintons can't be themselves.

lorien- You can go here and download Quicktime 7 (for free) and then you shouldn't have any more problems. Is he suggesting that it's acceptable to break federal law because GW hasn't captured Osama and (in their decayed neurosis) lied about WMDs. Hell, open season boys!!! I'm going to tell the police that when I get pulled over. Un-be-lievable!@#

I always assumed Berger was working for Clinton. Maybe he was working for Al Qaeda

How dare you question Sandy Berger's patriotism. Smuggling classified files out of the national archive is protected by the First Amendment. Speak truth to power! Sic semper tyrannis! Insh'allah!

The Judge is correct. Two crimes here, Berger's and the Justice Department's failure.

What do we do about an America with two justice systems, one for the masses and one for the political class?

I have a great deal of respect for the Bush family, they are American through and through. The new world order lingo of the elder Bush troubled me, still troubles me, as does Bush 43's immigration views. But on the whole, they are legitimately good people. This being the case, I've always believed that from the moment the planes impacted the WTC, the Penn. field, and the Pentagon, Bush has made a huge, concerted effort to shield Clinton from any blame regarding 9/11. He did this for several reasons but I believe chief among them is the "boys club" mentality that is so pervasive among our government officials. There have only been 43 presidents, a very select group. It is my belief that Bush made it clear to the DOJ that it was to treat Berglar with kid gloves..a proverbial slap on the wrist. Can I prove it? Of course not. However, logic, tradition, and patterns of behavior certainly lend creedence to this theory. How do you explain the bizarre and to my mind unfair treatment of Scooter Libby, especially in comparison to the treatment of Berglar? Look at all the leaks over the past 4 years, from the foreign surveillance program to the Gitmo circus to the pinching of financial accounts suspected of terrorist activity funding. What punishment has been meted out here? Armitage confesses to being the Novak source and no one in the DOJ seems to care. No, it's full steam ahead regarding Libby. The entire 9/11 report was compromised from the beginning by the presence of Jamie Gorelick. The very woman who instituted the policy of the "wall" in the DOJ during her time there. This wall prevented the connecting of the dots, the very dots that led to 9/11. The FBI and the various Intel Agencies were not allowed to share information. The left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. A recipe for disaster if ever there was one. Gorelick on the panel was there for one purpose; to shield the Clinton administration from blame. This is in keeping with Berglar's mission to steal, replace with false documents, or whatever else deemed necessary to accomplish the mission of absolving Clinton. The only mistake Berglar made was getting caught. Again Bush comes to the rescue, in essence giving Berglar a pardon. This whole thing with leaks, former Clinton officials getting free passes, Joe Wilson, it all has stunk to high heaven from the get-go......

Just think about this for a moment; look at all the chances the elder Bush had to slam Clinton during his eight years of fraud, deceit, corruption, and incompetence. Did he take this opportunity? No, he played the traditional role of ex-prez, remain silent in your retirement when it comes to critiquing your successor. It's the Bush way, don't embarass fellow public servants. I respect the idea but damn it's a frustrating reality.............
