fogw on December 20, 2006 at 5:18 PM - nailed it again! We must have heard, and will continue to hear until Nov. of 2008 "sex...private matter...between husband and wife...basta...amen...not our business".

How does this compare with what Sandy Berger was hiding under construction trailers? Where is the media outrage? Where has it been since 2003 on this?

The Washington press corps is the most profoundly selfish and self-absorbed congregation of human beings, short of possibly the court of Louis the 16th, that I can think of.

Leave Laura Bush alone, you vultures.

I don't know how the guy can keep from getting sarcastic. I would be saying, "You're right guys, there was a cover-up. I have crumbled before your hard-hitting questions--you have uncovered nothing less than Mole-gate, and to anticipate your next question Helen, yes, we should have special prosecutor look into this." And then I would be fired as press secretary.

<blockquote>Monday’s revelation was the second case this year of a belated White House announcement. In February, the White House waited almost a day before disclosing that Cheney had <strong>accidentally</strong> shot a fellow hunter during a quail-hunting trip.</blockquote>

Needed some fixin'

In other news, Bill Clinton waited years, until every cabinet member, every media outlet, everyone on this planet knew about his adulterous affair with cigar lady, before admitting his infidelity to his loving wife and his adoring public.

*sob*sniffle*bite*lip*

MSM's take on that one ....... best liar ever! Yeah! .... and it was a "private matter" anyway.

No bias. Nah.

<strong>How it was spun in my newspaper...
<blockquote>White House defends Laura Bush's decision not to reveal skin cancer tumor removal

By: TERENCE HUNT - Associated Press

WASHINGTON -- The White House on Tuesday defended Laura Bush's decision not to disclose she had a skin cancer tumor removed from her right shin in early November.
Presidential spokesman Tony Snow said Mrs. Bush told him that she is doing fine and that she did not publicize the condition because, in her words, "it's no big deal, we knew it wasn't a big deal at the time."
Snow said that, unlike her husband, the first lady is not an elected official. "She's got the same right to medical privacy that you do," he said. He likened her skin cancer to colds, the flu, stomach aches and other non-life threatening conditions.

<strong>"You guys are really stretching it," Snow said.</strong>

The cancer was a squamous cell carcinoma, the second most common form of skin cancer, said Susan Whitson, her press secretary. She said the troublesome patch was about the size of a nickel.
Mrs. Bush, 60, decided the cancer was a private matter and did not reveal it publicly. On Monday night, the White House acknowledged the first lady had the tumor removed after Mrs. Bush was noticed with a bandage below her right knee.
Whitson said the first lady was still wearing a bandage more than five weeks after the incision because the skin on that part of the leg is thin and "it takes a little while to heal." Asked if plastic surgery might be required, Whitson said, "No further procedures are needed at this point."
A squamous cell carcinoma is a tumor that affects the middle layer of the skin. It is more aggressive than basal cell cancer, the most common form of skin cancer. Squamous cell cancer is more likely than basal cell cancer to spread to other locations, so patients need to have lymph nodes in the region near the tumor routinely examined, according to the National Cancer Institute's Web site.
"I think you guys are trying to whip this up into something much larger than it is," Snow told reporters who questioned why the procedure had not been revealed earlier.
He said that while President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney make medical disclosures, "Other members of the family, not being elected, do not do so, and have not done so in prior administrations, and are not likely to do so."

But there is a history of some public disclosure of health problems involving the first lady. Nancy Reagan in 1987 revealed that she had breast cancer and underwent a mastectomy. Betty Ford checked herself into a treatment facility for drug and alcohol addiction after leaving the White House and later wrote about her dependence.
More than 1 million cases of basal and squamous cell skin cancers are diagnosed annually, according to the American Cancer Society, which says that most but not all of these forms of skin cancer are highly curable.
Explaining why the procedure was not disclosed until now, Whitson said, "This medical procedure was a private matter for Mrs. Bush, but when asked by the media today, we answered the question."
The first lady was noted wearing a bandage on her right leg before the election. At the time Whitson said Mrs. Bush had a sore on her shin.

In late October, Mrs. Bush had a biopsy because the sore was not healing, Whitson said, and it was determined to be a squamous cell carcinoma.

Whitson said Mrs. Bush's tumor was removed under a local anesthetic. She called it "a little surgical procedure. It's no big deal. She detected it early. She caught it early." No further treatment was needed.
Whitson said the patch became a matter of concern just before Election Day, Nov. 7.
"It's healing fine and it has not interrupted her schedule at all," Whitson said. In the same month she had the operation, Mrs. Bush accompanied her husband on a trip to Singapore and Vietnam.

In 2001, President Bush had four lesions removed from his face, including two caused by a common skin ailment that can lead to cancer if left untreated. None of the four were cancerous, the White House said.

People with fair skin and prolonged sun exposure are more likely to develop squamous cell carcinoma, and it is more common in the southern latitudes of the northern hemisphere. Mrs. Bush is from Texas.

Squamous cell carcinoma shouldn't be confused with melanoma, the most dangerous form of skin cancer. Together, basal and squamous cell carcinoma are responsible for less than 0.1 percent of cancer deaths, while the American Cancer Society estimates almost 8,000 Americans will die from melanoma this year.

If Mrs. Bush had had a melanoma excised, it would have been newsworthy, but a squamous cell carcinoma? I'd have been happy if she'd informed us anytime in November--of 2016. A squamous cell carcinoma is barely above the level of "unsightly mole."

What liberal media!? This is truly sickening. Not just because these people are clearly insane, but because they are the ones who write the news that dictates all other White House news coverage around the country. Psychos.

Can somebody explain to me why he doesn't just end the presser? He needs to start punishing them for bad behavior just like children.

Has anyone checked DU to see how big the "I Hope She Dies" thread is? I'm sure there's at least one there. They're sick, and the media is clueless on sooooo many levels.

Where's the footage of the black helicopters taking Tony Snow back to the shadow government secret headquarters where Mrs. Bush is in cryostasis?

Oh, wait...<em>skull and bones secret.</em>

Why do they insist on actually answering these types of questions? Snow should bluntly tell them to get %$*&ed.

I earned my bachelor's degree from Indiana when Bob Knight was in his decline and my master's degree from Indiana when his replacement was at his peak. Accordingly, I'm biased, but I would LOVE to see Bob Knight as WHPS for a day. As an added bonus, all of the press corps should be have to wear referee uniforms that day and have to signal questions by showing the sign for a technical foul. Just to clarify, I am only speaking tongue in cheek here, but I'd bet he'd end up throwing a chair at the press corps. Perhaps its impact would knock some sense into someone?

Seriously, though, I'm glad the first lady is okay.

I had always thought that becoming a member of the White House press corp was reserved for the 'best of the best'. What the hell is wrong with these people; wasting all this time on a freakin' mole? If I was the manager of any of these worthless-excuse-for-a-reporter, I'd fire them immediately.

<blockquote>The Whitehouse press briefing is like a wildlife park where you get to see the MSM in its natural state.</blockquote>

I am under the impression that the White House press corp is the "best and brightest" collection of journalists. Either I am sorely mistaken, or the quality of journalists is in a much sadder state than previously realized.
