Video: Ros-Lehtinen caught lying about calling for Castro’s assassination
posted at 1:58 pm on December 20, 2006 by Allahpundit
She claimed the clip that was posted to YouTube had been tampered with to make it look like she was saying something she wasn’t.
The filmmakers have now released the full video to the Miami Herald, and to quote another famous Cuban, she’s got some ‘splaining to do.
There’s been no comment yet from her about the new clip. No doubt the Cuban-American community will be heartbroken to learn she really does want Castro dead.

Oh well, the truth hurts.

Isn’t it a little late in the game for an assassination?

I doubt that this is going to hurt Ros-Lehtinen with the, er, base in Miami. The Herald will have its fun for a day or two, but nobody is going to challenge Ros-Lehtinen’s seat in two years by claiming that she shouldn’t have lied about wanting Castro assassinated.

I’m in Ros-Lehtinen’s district, btw.

really. this should be used by anti-communists to expose the left as phonies in their pretentions of “revolution” and “resistance” or devotion to the people except when “the people” is meant as a euphamism for the state.

Other than backing down from the obvious lie, Ros-Lehtinen has nothing to worry about. Her position, while repugnant to the commie symps in the mass media, is still very popular in the 305.

What about your lip-reader?

While it might be hypocritical of a liberal to call for an assassination … I for one am quite impressed. The sad thing is that she had to lie about it. She should have come right out and admitted it. The following line would have worked nicely in the press conference she SHOULD have held …
“Yes, I said it and I still stand behind the assassination. In fact … I volunteer for the job.”
She might be running for President if she had been so brave.

How stupid is she? Let alone planning an assasination on an 80+ year old with terminal cancer.
It pains me but I agree with Gregor, even the president of whatever fast food resturant is poisoning us this week goes on TV and admits it. Don’t they ever learn? The only one that can lie about what they do is a democrat.

Is this the same Castro who allowed the Russians to base missiles, the kind intended to wipe out American cities, a few miles away from Florida?
Seems to me the shame is on those who have neglected to violently remove Castro from the face of the earth, if we are a country that has serious intentions of surviving that is. Yes, even if on his death bed, out of sheer principle. It’s no wonder the psycho leaders in Iran and Venezuela think they can threaten the US with annihilation, Castro went much further without any consequences.

If you’re questioning the timing, I already did that the last time Allah posted this clip.

Good question. I still maintain that it seemed off and did not seem to be what her lips were saying.
But also, the way she says it is so matter-of-factly that it doesn’t make sense for her to deny it later. She answered the question in response to a question about Hitler.
Yeah, I can admit that I would be glad to know of someone assassinating a Hitler-like individuals.

I’m still wondering why she lied at all about it. The Church commission was a poor idea to begin with.
spmat on December 20, 2006 at 4:03 PM
Esthier, I agree the video on YouTube did look messed up.
I wanted to see the whole thing and now she’s pretty much hung herself on this one, not that anyone seems to be upset about what she said.
Didn’t she say she was out of context. She does seem to say that she would welcome someone killing Castro but didn’t say the US should do it. That may be her only next move, I dunno.

Uh … liberal? I think she’s on our side. As for the story, who gives a rats patut? We should’ve popped this sob 40 years ago; then we might’ve been spared Steven Spielberg’s whining.

That’s my girl…
As long as she wants her job we won’t have to worry about an
idiot democrat in her district!
