Video: “Brokeback to the Future”

I know it’s old. I went looking for new Brokeback remixes after yesterday’s “Plane, Trains, and Automobiles” clip, but this one remains far and away the best. And there’s an odd chance that maybe three of our readers haven’t seen it yet.

There’s a whole little subculture of Brokeback-ized trailers on YouTube, incidentally. It’s probably the second most popular remix genre next to GoodFellas overdubs, one of which that I watched today features Sesame Street with snatches of dialogue from the “what am I, a clown?” scene put in the mouths of Grover and Big Bird.

That clip will not be appearing on this site, needless to say.

Update: I guess this was inevitable. Content warning.

Love the GoodFellas one. Wish I thought of it.

Brokeback to the Future is the gold standard–perfect pacing and editing. That Goodfellas one was too slow and boring.

Brokeback to the Future is the gold standard–perfect pacing and editing.

I agree. That’s the flaw with most of them — they drag on for three or four minutes. The joke’s made after 90 seconds. Everything else is overkill.

Agreed – Brokeback to the Future is brilliant. The Goodfellas one was okay, but not great. It did make me want to watch the actual movie again, though.

Slublog on December 20, 2006 at 11:04 PM

Lol, oh man! That Goodfellas one seemed stupid at first but it just got better and better right up ’til the end!

One of the best lines though… Pesci: “Wanna make sure I don’t wind up kissing fu**ing Nat King Cole ova here”

Spongeback Mountain wasn’t too too bad.

Haven’t seen any of these before (I guess I’m sheltered), but the Brokeback to the Future was freakin’ hilarious!!!

dalewalt on December 21, 2006 at 12:21 AM

Man, where’s the love for the Goodfellas one? At first I thought it was lame, but figured I’d give it a chance and watch it all the way through and it got better and better after about the half-way point.

RightWinged on December 21, 2006 at 12:30 AM

They were both funny, but I gotta go wit Brokeback to the Future. Yous gotta a problem wit dat??

Rick on December 21, 2006 at 12:45 AM

Vincenzo on December 21, 2006 at 1:05 AM

…or the Brokeblack Dahlia? How about a TV series, like Welcome Brokeback Cotter? Or a gay boy band, like Brokebackstreet Boys?
