TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad suffered an embarrassing blow in local council races, according to partial election results Monday, in voting viewed as a sign of public discontent with his hard-line stance.

The balloting represented a partial comeback for opponents of Ahmadinejad, whose Islamic government’s policies have fueled fights with the West and brought Iran closer to U.N. sanctions.

Former President Hashemi Rafsanjani, a relative moderate, polled the most votes of any Tehran candidate to win re-election to a key assembly post.

I am not disagreeing with your sentiment, but if I was going to have American school children memorizing ANY religious texts, the Koran would be other than on the top of the list. If it’s illegal to acknowledge the existence of the Bible on government controlled land, then the same must apply to all religious texts

Christ doesn’t judge governments, He judges people individually based upon their walk of faith.

When Christ returns, no other power or authority will rule. They will either be destroyed or rendered impotent.

We can only each answer for ourselves. As for me, I choose to follow the Lord today, tomorrow, and into eternity.

I must’ve missed this in the New Testament. So it’ll be Jesus and His Islamic friend who will return. I think this “Mahdi” character will appear first, as others have before him (John 4: 1-4).

Children will learn who their allies and enemies are, in both the physical and spiritual sense, through an understanding of the Holy Bible long before they would using the Koran.

If Iminnadinnerjacket doesn’t believe that, then he has no viable answer to the question. To think that the Architect of the Earth is nothing more than a prophet, and of no more importance than Muhammad (MHRIH) is his right as a thinking individual. But Jesus’ own words don’t allow that position.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Either Jesus believed those words, or he did not. If he did not, then he was a fraud when he spoke them, certainly no prophet of God, and unworthy to be considered alongside any other religous person.

If Jesus believed those words, then they were either true or false. If false, then he was either a megalomaniac, or mentally deranged, and again, unworthy to be called a prophet.

C. S. Lewis explained it better than anyone, and allowed but three choices of who/what Jesus is based on his own words: Liar, lunatic, or Lord and Messiah. To claim that He was simply a good religious teacher, leader, prophet, etc. is not an available choice, because a good man wouldn’t attempt to make people believe that he was God incarnate.

Nothing mystifying about this question. Christians can answer this one confidently without hesitation. The Holy Bible makes it clear that when Jesus returns, He will gather HIS people to Himself from ALL nations, not a select few. Furthermore, at that time, ALL earthy powers or nations will cease to have ANY authority over ANYONE, and EVERY sensient being on earth shall get on their knees and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. From that time forward, there will be no other recognized power or authority on earth or in the heavens other than the Lord Himself.

He would say something like “Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them,” or even “And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not: For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect. But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.”
