Dan Rather shares a commonality with Joy Behar: both of them have reached a point of such fanaticism that they have achieved an unshakable degree of certainty. They don’t “suspect” things; they know.

Behar can baldly accuse Republicans of causing Senator Johnson’s brain injury, because she “knows” what that party is capable of. Rather can accuse Fox News of being a stooge/megaphone for the Republicans in the White House because he just “knows” it to be true.

Neither one of them has to offer any evidence to support what they just “know” to be true. Just like both of them know that anybody who challenges their absolute knowledge must also be some stooge/shill for the Republicans. The beauty of it all is how self-justifying and self-perpetuating it is, like some mental Rube Goldberg machine.

It’s equally fascinating and disturbing to observe such behavior: not to debate the “arguments” themselves, but rather to try to fathom what kind of mental illness underlies them. Rather might as well be saying, “George Bush is Satan, and Roger Ailes is the anti-Christ!” – he has just as much evidence to support those claims as he does that the TANG memos and the Fox News “talking points” are “real.”

1) In the first Rather clip, if you listen right after Danny says that Fox has their talking points, you can hear laughter. Maybe from stagehands, maybe the voices in Danny’s head, who knows.

I heard that too…some unbelievers in Dan’s crowd maybe? Or maybe someone hit the “fake laughter” studio button by mistake.

Not to say that Rather doesn’t hear voices. I’m betting on it.

Couple of things:
1) In the first Rather clip, if you listen right after Danny says that Fox has their talking points, you can hear laughter. Maybe from stagehands, maybe the voices in Danny’s head, who knows.

2) Is it just me, or as O’Reilly was setting up MM, did it look like she was thinking what the rest of us were thinking: “Bill, shut up and let me talk!!”

Not really arguing with you, but I have a slightly different take. It isn’t about a political party, per se, but about a philosophy, socialism. It comes out as you said because there’s only one major political party that stands on the side of socialists. It isn’t reporting that is in opposition to Democrats then that riles such as Rather, but opposition to socialism, under which the truth is always the first casualty.

Anyone with the unmitigated nerve to broadcast a fact which rebuts the socialist agenda, is clearly under orders from the VRWC. Rather is a true believer in this mode of thinking, and why not. It has been pervasive at all of the major journalism schools since before Rather would have attended.

Thing is, the Rathers still have the power, and they know it. November 7th proved it. No way a nation at war and under attack could elect a Treason Party without the insidious power of the MSM paving the way.
