We are raising little selfish hedonists as it is. This is pitiful.

Well done, as always.

seejanemom on December 18, 2006 at 8:27 AM

PLEASE won’t some CONSERVATIVE geeks come out of hiding and create a YOU TUBE alternative?

We could call it TRUE TUBE !!!!!!

If I could only write code, I would treat it as a calling and religious vocation for the rest of my natural life, but alas, all I can do is opine.

seejanemom on December 18, 2006 at 8:31 AM

Other than noticing the correctness of their recognition of the general “us,” I don’t think I’ve even read TIME in a doctor’s office, much less anywhere else.

Of course they won’t notice conservatives. That’s okay. Less money for them.

beatcanvas on December 18, 2006 at 8:39 AM

Well, I looked, and of course TRUETUBE.com is taken. But come on folks…there has to be somebody who wants to make a gajillion dollars…anyone???? A capitalist pig who can write code and loves the truth….

seejanemom on December 18, 2006 at 8:55 AM

(heavy sarcasm) I’m shocked, utterly appalled, and amazed that Time doesn’t recognize conservatives. It’s never happened before, because they are such a pure and good magazine.

Vanquisher on December 18, 2006 at 9:10 AM

Man.. I was overjoyed at being Time’s Man of the Year. Michelle had to ruin it for me. Thanks Lady!

My 15 minutes is GONE! GONE I TELL YOU!

GoodBoy on December 18, 2006 at 9:12 AM

I think THIS IS the alternative seejanemom!
TIME isnt something I read or even care about. This just smacks of pandering. In a year when so many things happened, this is all about “inclusiveness”. Spare me.

labwrs on December 18, 2006 at 9:12 AM

I kind of like Tila Tequila….anyway…moving on…yeah TIME sucks.

EnochCain on December 18, 2006 at 9:16 AM

The good news is that, leaving aside their choices of concrete examples to show, they do recognize that the dinosaur media (including the dead-tree edition of Time itself) has been supplanted by this new medium, which turns the traditional publishing and broadcasting paradigm on its head. No longer can the editors at the NY and LA Slimes, Washington Compost, See BS, Communist News Network, etc. decide what the news is. Long gone is the day when Walter Cronkite could sign off with “that’s the way it is” and have 90% of the country believe him.

The cultural elites try to put down ‘Faux News’, despite the fact that it obliterates them in the ratings, but they can no longer ignore what talk radio and the Internet have brought to the game. Dan Rather may still maintain that his TxANG story was accurate, even if his proof was fake, but neither he nor Mary Mapes is working at CBS anymore. Reuters has made substantive changes to their operations to try to avoid any future Fauxtoshop scandals.

So they didn’t profile Charles Johnson or any other representatives of the Dextrosphere (in the case of Zombie, who is anonymous for security reasons, you really can’t expect a profile). Of course they’re going to put the Foley whistleblower and Macaca up as examples of ‘YOU’ – they beat those stories to death. Not only are they closer politically to the MSM, but they won the election. Our side didn’t exactly win the Hizbollah-Israel war.

The Monster on December 18, 2006 at 9:20 AM

I thought about maybe putting:

Named “Person of the Year” by Time Magazine – 2006

on my business website in my “Bio” section. But even though it’s all in good humor, some potential clients might find it a bit too snarky.

asc85 on December 18, 2006 at 9:21 AM

I always liked LubeTube as a name.

But in all seriousness, why not take ConservaTV.com. It’s available. I just want credit for the name and a link to my most righteous blog.

Nethicus on December 18, 2006 at 10:02 AM

Once again, from the top:

“I’d never join a club that would have me as a member…” - Groucho Marx

For anyone who ever needed proof as to how irrelevant TIME Magazine is, I submit Exhibit A for your consideration.

And liberals have a reputation for whining?

JaHerer22 on December 18, 2006 at 10:37 AM

This isn’t whining. It’s mocking. Learn the difference, JaH

Bryan on December 18, 2006 at 10:43 AM

Most people have the tendency to whine. But pointing out journalistic inconsistencies and (intentional) omissions is not whining, just stating the business as usual facts.

Vanquisher on December 18, 2006 at 11:01 AM

I am feeling SO inadequate and inferior since, as far as I know, I have not yet been banned by anyone, anywhere.

CyberCipher on December 18, 2006 at 11:07 AM

Time is running out, and Time is winding down, but since Time is an illusion anyway, it real won’t matter once Time is gone (thanks to us).

RalphyBoy on December 18, 2006 at 11:08 AM

Our side didn’t exactly win the Hizbollah-Israel war.

The Monster on December 18, 2006 at 9:20 AM

We didn’t win the battle, to be sure. But I liked the observation I heard some weeks back that the lefties won by pretending to be righties. As a result, both parties got more conservative. The Dems ran blue-dogs, and several left-leaning (R)’s got weeded out. We may have lost the battle, but the war is perpetually (though not strongly) in our favor. The US is essentially (moderately) right-leaning.

urbancenturion on December 18, 2006 at 11:18 AM

I can’t remember the last time Time was relevant.

It came as quite a pleasant surprise to win this coveted award, as I’ve only been in the blog business since early November. Must be the quality of my work that did it, or my irrepressible charm, wit and candor. If none of that, then it was the Tara Conner threads.

JammieWearingFool on December 18, 2006 at 11:20 AM

Great Vent Michelle!

More proof of Left Bias by the MSM. It makes me thankful we have Hot Air and Fox News to balance the scales – at least somewhat.

Michelle and the Hot Air folk are doing an invaluable service by keeping us updated, and making us more well informed, of details of the Left Bias of the MSM. They are not “preaching to the choir” but giving verifiable facts and solid commentary on the MSM that show us how they are attempting to manipulate the electorate to their agenda.

omegaram on December 18, 2006 at 11:25 AM

“PLEASE won’t some CONSERVATIVE geeks come out of hiding and create a YOU TUBE alternative?”

The left would take it over.

Just look at the leftt-ization of REDDIT and DIGG.

purpleslog on December 18, 2006 at 11:30 AM

That must mean that I won it twice! 2003 and 2006. It has been a good millenium so far. :D

JasonG on December 18, 2006 at 11:56 AM

I am feeling SO inadequate and inferior since, as far as I know, I have not yet been banned by anyone, anywhere.

CyberCipher on December 18, 2006 at 11:07 AM

Keep trying, CC. Hopefully one day you too will be able to say, “I’ve been thrown out of better places than this!”

(Is it bad that I’ve said that in church?)

ReubenJCogburn on December 18, 2006 at 1:05 PM

It’s not quite ready yet, but Bullwinkle is working to create a video hosting service. He seems to be willing to collaborate with anyone who has some know-how.

On a related note, I posted a video clip of Lou Costello being interviewed by a reporter that I thought is very fitting.

JohnJ on December 18, 2006 at 1:16 PM

This is such a cop-out. Who would want to be crowned by Time anyway. I mean Hitler won and Stalin won twice. I think the computer won once. Please!

Drtuddle on December 18, 2006 at 1:24 PM

Just a little correction to the Oprah part of the story – SHE did not give away the cars, GM did. Oprah just took credit for it. Just a little pet peeve of those of us living just a few miles were all of those cars were built.

jeannedb on December 18, 2006 at 2:20 PM

I would like to thank the previos winners that so influenced me.

1938 Adolf Hitler, 1939 Joseph Stalin, 1942 Joseph Stalin
1957 Nikita Krushchev, 1979 Ayatullah Khomeini,1991 Ted Turner, 1992 Bill Clinton, 1998 Bill Clinton and Kenneth Starr.

Without you I would just be sitting here drinking a coffe with no milk.

No Thanks…..don’t include with me with those stiffs!

Sarcasm, Just one more service I offer.

VikingGoneWild on December 18, 2006 at 2:39 PM

Remember Times is just for old and miserable liberals who think what was once the truth tellers are still the truth sayers and have’nt seen past their bifocals.
Times is trying to survive like network news is trying to breathe the same Oxygen as cablenews, ha ha they should turn over and die!!!!!
Michelle and Hotair are the next generation for the only true news..Viva Hotair, Viva Michelle

alyce on December 18, 2006 at 2:53 PM

Time doesn’t want to offend anyone by picking a single person, so they nominate everyone.

What a weenie cop-out.

Time should be embarrassed by this, but they won’t.

Lawrence on December 18, 2006 at 3:47 PM

And liberals have a reputation for whining?

JaHerer22 on December 18, 2006 at 10:37 AM

This is not whining, but if you realize that they have a reputation for good reason, then acknowledgement is always the first step toward recovery.

Time and “You” – global socialist kumbaya – fortunately still a utopian dream.

Entelechy on December 18, 2006 at 4:38 PM

I was so elated to have won this award !! I want to thank Hot Air for opening up the comment section so I could finally comment. Winning this award was all because of Michelle and AP for allowing me a chance to make a comment. Thanks for helping me win this award, I am having a frame made to dispaly it neatly on the back of my pc. I know the future will bring this site and the wonderfull people on here that I enjoy reading about but I always don’t comment. Thanks Hot Air

bones47 on December 18, 2006 at 5:34 PM

I was out dodging the paparazzi all day. Being person of the year is so exhausting…Jane..over here…JANE!…Smile Jane!! Janie, baby…look over here… a day in Hell, I tell you.

But in response…you guys are right, the Lefties would take it over. There are just more of them in the ether…

BUT WON’T SOMEBODY PLEASE DO IT ANYWAY?????? I want to be able to post my videos of defiling the Iranian flag at my front door every day… I am certain GOOTUBE won’t allow that….you think?

seejanemom on December 18, 2006 at 6:01 PM

Not sure why O’Reilly or H&C or Glenn Beck or any of the other legitimate news analysis shows haven’t thought to syndicate Michelle’s ‘Vent’ thereby entertaining and informing their audience while promoting honest reporting. Maybe Bret Hume? Whomever jumps on, it would be refreshing to see a blend of television and webovision. You really do deserve a wider exposure Michelle. Great vent this week. So many were patting themselves on the back and overlooked the agenda.

Griz on December 18, 2006 at 6:17 PM

Time’s pandering stunt isn’t going far enough. They could learn a thing or two from Wheaties!

There’s a website where anybody can send in a payment along with a photo of your kid (or yourself, for that matter) and in return you’ll receive your very own Wheaties commemorative box.

Not sure if there’s any cereal inside the box or not.

Dave Shay on December 18, 2006 at 8:27 PM

Michelle, this has to be the most powerful VENT you’ve done. The hypocrisy of Time’s “person of the year” award exposed, yet again, to support the very liberal agenda of the editors, themselves. And, by the way, mega-kudo’s to you for finally stating the obvious about Oprah’s (*cough*) generosity (oops! I may have vomited a little in my mouth). I have believed for YEARS that this isn’t about being generous – it’s about Oprah. I’m so glad someone in public view finally said it.

thedecider on December 19, 2006 at 12:12 AM

GREAT VIDEO MM. TIME mag is dead and they had to say something to get mags sold, so they went with this WE are the “person of the year” to sell mags. I AGREE 100% with what you said, not reading the mag I take your word on it, 50% complete and 100% disingenuous. The only correction was you comment about the GUY who’s video torpedoed Senator George Allen’s campaign for election. Correction, George Allen sunk his own ship. Allen is a racist and than lied about it, making lame excuse after another as they came in to his duplicitous racist head. Let’s not give him a pass because he’s republican. Michelle he would call you some choice names behind your back, I am sure. I have no use for him and glad he is done. It would be like blaming the people who uncovered Dan Rather’s Bush record lie or the picture doctoring. ON you point, it works both ways and TIME left off the conservative side of the Internet revolution. That’s why TIME is irrelevant and no one is reading it anymore. Like the extinction of racist politician dinosaurs like George, TIME mag is sinking into the tar pit of history. They might have well put TIME mag person of the year because we will not be here much longer.

One grand prize split several million ways ….

Instead I will give my praise to our Founding Fathers, who protected our free speech, and in many ways are the ones responible for the patriotic blogosphere. It is THEY who created the internet, by preserving, and nurturing it’s soul, before it was even born.

Thanks to all those who keep dumping the MSM’s tea overboard. I’m sure our Founders are smiling :)

USA, all the way!
